Opis:: This text confronts two images of a small episode from the First World War and the struggle of Poland to regain its independence. The literary image, Hospital in Cichinicze, is the story of Melchior Wańkowicz (1926), and the film picture is The Gateaway of Europe by Jerzy Wójcik (1999). The film work was an adaptation of literary material; however, the ways memory is created in the two cases are different. Wańkowicz created a somewhat reporter-like, realistic, non-stereotypical record of events, while Wójcik’s story was more universal and at the same time more rooted in national symbolism.

Opis:: The author presents the ways in which “Peiperism”, i.e. a model of thinking about the avant-garde as exemplified by the reception of Tadeusz Peiper’s works, is disintegrating today. Research on avant-garde poetry which privileged a theoretical perspective resulted in the distorted reception of texts, thus building a doctrinal model of the first avant-garde that marginalized or objectified literary works. However, the restoration of the superior role of poetry which was absorbed and dominated by the structural concept of poetic language compels readers to “leave the beaten track” and try to read Peiper’s works in a different way. At the same time, established opinions on the intellectual and nonphysical as well as fully expressible and complex model of the Cracow avantgarde are redefined. A closer look at the texts reveals interpretational differences and shows that avant-garde authors’ utopian projects are not necessarily congruent with their output.

Opis:: The article presents the late authorship of Miron Białoszewski, especially his poems collected in the book Odczepić się (1978) and a diary Chamowo (2009) that are a document of the poet’s life in the block of flats after his removal to the flat in a tower block at the Lizbońska Street in Warsaw in 1975. In these texts we may notice the new way of writing that was formed by new accommodation and living arrangement that influenced the poets’ life. On the other hand the room on the ninth floor occurs the place that was marked with sacrum and it puts an impact on the poets’ metaphysical and supernatural experience. The flat in the tower block has also influenced the author’s perspective and the way of writing, so that Białoszewski has experienced terminal situation – being between the two forms of living, balancing between the earth and heaven, profanum and sacrum. The removal starts to resemble a ferry across Styx, and the ninth floor becomes an unwanted porch of eternity. The titled word odczepianie się (disconnecting, separating) from the past and being at the top of the tower block means the new beginning for the poet, and writing becomes an imitation of the God’s act of creation that helps Białoszewski to accommodate in the world after heart attack and removal.

Opis:: Praca zawiera pogłębioną refleksję nad zakresem przedmiotowym geografii człowieka. Najważniejszym celem jest analiza zmian rozumienia zakresu treści jednej z podstawowych kategorii teoretycznych w geografii człowieka, którą jest pojęcie „miejsce”. W artykule rozwijana jest teza o historycznym rozwoju pojęcia miejsca. W różnych okresach przemian dyscypliny i w ramach odmiennych ujęć jej przedmiotu zainteresowania istniała określona koncepcja miejsca. Współczesne zróżnicowanie pojęcia miejsca w geografii człowieka wynika z ewolucji ujęć klasycznych, a często i wcześniejszych, oraz tych stymulowanych nowymi wzorcami teoretyczno-metodologicznymi w naukach społecznych. Kwestia miejsca jest jednym z kluczowych podejść do przedmiotu badań w geografii człowieka. Współczesne modele geograficzne badania miejsc mają przynajmniej dwie główne odmiany. Pierwsza, tradycyjna, związana przede wszystkim z geografią człowieka wywodzącą się z tradycji nauki chorologicznej i regionalnej, odnosi się do wyjaśniania porządków przestrzennych w kontekście globalnym. Druga wynika w szczególności z zainteresowania geografów człowieka współczesnymi ujęciami metodologicznymi nauk społecznych i humanistycznych (teorie rozwoju społecznego i kulturowe podejścia do przestrzeni).
The content of the work includes an in-depth reflection on the subject scope of human geography. The most important goal is to analyze the changes in understanding the content scope of one of the basic theoretical categories in human geography, which is the concept of place. The article develops a thesis on the historical development of the concept of a place. At different times of the discipline’s transformation and within the framework of different approaches to its subject of interest, there was a specific concept of place. The contemporary differentiation of the concept of place in human geography results from the evolution of classical approaches, and often earlier ones, and those stimulated by new theoretical and methodological patterns in social sciences. The question of place is one of the key approaches to the subject of research in human geography. Contemporary geographic models of the study of places have at least two main varieties. The first, traditional one, related primarily to human geography derived from the tradition of chorological and regional science, refers to explaining spatial orders in a global context. The second model of researching places is primarily related to the interest of human geographers in contemporary methodological approaches to social sciences and humanities. Researchers representing this field of study emphasize that the concept of place results from geography’s interest in the theory of social development and a cultural approach to space.

Opis:: Artykuł omawia miejsce i zadania poetyki w uniwersyteckim kształceniu polonistycznym, która wprowadza studentów w podstawy teorii literatury oraz przygotowuje do praktykowania sztuki interpretacji. Szczególną uwagę autorka poświęca roli wersyfikacji w edukacji filologicznej, podkreślając jej strukturalistyczne tradycje oraz dążenie do semantyzacji i antropologizacji wersologicznych chwytów. Dzięki badaniom form wierszowych możliwe jest pożądane zbliżenie teorii do literatury, które pociąga za sobą sfunkcjonalizowanie wyborów wersyfikacyjnych w konkretnym, historycznie i społecznie określonym kontekście, tym samym włączając wersologię w przestrzeń współczesnej refleksji humanistycznej. Konieczne jest także dowartościowanie tej problematyki w kształceniu akademickim i jej dywersyfikacja poprzez przywoływanie również na przedmiotach historycznoliterackich.
The article discusses poetics’ significant place and role in the university literary didactics – it is a subject which introduces students into rudiments of literary theory and prepares them to practice the art of interpretation. The author focuses on the role of versification in philological education and underlines its structuralist tradition and tendency towards semantization and antropologization versificational devices. Researching verse enables desirable closeness of literature and theory which results in functionalizing versificational choices in concrete, historically and socially definite context – in this aspect versification becomes an object of modern humanistic thought. The author proclaims the necessity of enhancing the status of this problematics in academic training as well as its diversification through discussing versology also within historic-literary curricula.

Przemyślenia zawarte w artykule dotyczą problemu wyborów, przed którymi stają badacze w projektowaniu i prowadzeniu studiów funkcjonalnych oraz pokrewnych im kierunków. Poruszono takie kwestie, jak relacyjność i desygnaty funkcji, problem czasu i skali badań oraz dylemat porządku przestrzennego i spójności. Autorzy postulują rozwój koncepcji krytycznych opartych na neofunkcjonalizmie. Stwarza to możliwość rozwoju badań, które zwracają uwagę na lokalne wymiary życia społecznego i gospodarczego. Podejście to może być bardzo twórcze dla planowania przestrzeni lokalnych i podstaw społecznego zaangażowania w proces podnoszenia warunków życia, wzmacniania tożsamości kulturowej oraz kreowania samych miejsc.
The content of the work includes an in-depth reflection on the issue of functional research in geographical studies of rural areas and related disciplines (mainly spatial management). In human geography and spatial management, the functional concept has played an important role in describing and explaining reality, laying the foundations for various research programs. The most important goal of the paper is an attempt to identify the basic cognitive and practical dilemmas in functional studies of rural areas. The considerations contained in the article concern the problems of choices faced by researchers in designing and conducting functional studies and related fields of study. Issues such as relationality and function designations, the problem of time and scale of research, and the dilemma of spatial order and coherence were raised. The development of critical concepts based on neofunctionalism is postulated. This creates an opportunity to develop research that draws attention to the local dimensions of social and economic life. This approach can be very creative for planning local spaces and social involvement in the process of improving living conditions, strengthening cultural identity and creating the places themselves.

Opis:: Julia Fiedorczuk’s academic, journalistic and critical activity invites readings of her poetry in the context of ecopoetics, which she actively promotes. Her ecocritically oriented poems explore the links between poetry and natural environment, proposing an interdisciplinary practice of cocreation of the human and non-human world, as well as a re-evaluation of our understanding of the relations between them. It is, at the same time, a type of poetry that exposes its gender affiliation; it evokes and deconstructs the culturally instilled associations between femininity and nature, and formulates questions pertaining to identity and metaphysics. With her “woman and world: user’s manuals” project, poetically original yet deeply rooted in (post)modern contexts, Fiedorczuk represents one of the most interesting currents of contemporary – and not just women’s – poetry.

Bliskie czytanie tekstu, zwłaszcza w jego wymiarze wersyfikacyjno-kompozycyjnym oraz symbolicznym, demaskuje psychologiczny czwarty wymiar architektury modernistycznej, zaś analiza psychosomatycznej i percepcyjnej sytuacji podmiotu umożliwia odpowiedź na tytułowe pytanie wiersza, które wykracza poza społeczno-polityczną prawdę konkretu, stając się pytaniem tożsamościowym, egzystencjalnym i metafizycznym.
The article is an interpretation of the poem by Stanisław Barańczak, "Where Did I Wake Up" from the "Morning Diary" volume, based on the author's poetry and the research reflection on this subject. A close reading of the text, especially in its versification-compositional and symbolic dimensions, exposes the psychological fourth dimension of modernist architecture, while the analysis of the psychosomatic and perceptual situation of the subject enables the answer to the eponymous question of the poem, which goes beyond the socio-political truth of the concrete, becoming an identity and existential question, and metaphysical.

Opis:: Artykuł stanowi rozbudowaną, opartą na analizie trzech zagadnień interpretację pojęcia końca religii w filozofii G.W.F. Hegla. Po pierwsze, relacji religijnego wyobrażenia i filozofii spekulatywnej – tj. problemu zniesienia religii w filozofii. Po drugie, Heglowskiej wykładni chrześcijaństwa (przedstawionej w Encyklopedii Nauk Filozoficznych i Wykładach z filozofii religii) zogniskowanej wokół koncepcji wcielenia jako kenozy, która jest odczytywana przez pryzmat propozycji interpretacyjnej Catherine Malabou. Po trzecie wreszcie, idei śmierci Chrystusa jako śmierci samego Boga, która stanowi, zdaniem Slavoja Žižka, autentyczny rdzeń chrześcijaństwa dla Hegla. Interpretacja tych problemów prowadzi do następującej konkluzji końca religii u Hegla: uśmiercony Bóg zmartwychwstaje w Duchu Świętym, którego historyczną postacią jest „duch obiektywny‖ – rewolucyjna wspólnota czynów miłości.
The article is an interpretation of the concept of the end of religion in Hegel’s philosophy, based on the analysis of three issues:1. The relationship between religious imagination and speculative philosophy – i.e. the idea of the sublation of religion into philosophy.2. The Hegelian understanding of Christianity (presented in Encyclopaedia of the Philosophical Sciences and Lectures on the Philosophy of Religion) focused on the idea of incarnation as kenosis, which is interpreted by Catherine Malabou’s theory.3. The idea of the death of Christ as the death of God himself that constitutes the authentic core of Christianity – as Slavoj Žižek has claimed.This interpretation leads to the conclusion: the outcome of this death is God qua Holy Spirit, whose historical embodiment is ―objective spirit‖ – revolutionary community of the acts of love.

Opis:: The paper investigates manners of linguistic description of psychosomatic, autobiographically interpreted experience in contemporary women’s poetry, which is analyzed in the context of the poetics of the moment, with reference to Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht’s concept of “poetry as a mode of attention.” The authoress is particularly interested in the figure of paronomasia, evoking homonymic, parallel spheres: the material and the transcendental one. The article contains close reading interpretations of poems by, among others, Krystyna Miłobędzka, Teresa Ferenc, Bogusława Latawiec and Ludmiła Marjańska, in which paronomasia introduces the reader into a dual dimension of existence, both anchoring the subject in the physical, bodily reality and provoking metaphysical questions.
