    Immigrants make up only 2% of the total population in Poland. Over 80% of such immigrants reside in cities. Poland is only a transit point in their migration to the West or a temporary place of work or education. The paper focuses on the structure of the several-thousand, heterogeneous immigrant population in Poznań and the institutions within which they function and pursue their particular adaptation and integration strategies. Foreigners in Poznań live to some extent “next to” the receiving society and are hardly visible in the city space. Their migration is circular and often seasonal. A significant percentage is made up of the so called privileged migrants (students obliged to pay tuition fees at public and private universities and business professionals). Poznań, which is not a multicultural city, is not an important centre in the transnational network and can be defined as a typical “national” city based on local forms of socio-cultural relations.

    Przedmiotem rozważań podjętych w artykule są: powody, dla których wielokulturowość budowana poprzez przyjmowanie imigrantów jest niezbędna Polsce i Polakom, diagnoza wielokulturowości w wymiarze deskryptywnym – jako rzeczywistości społeczno-demograficznej oraz świadomościowym – jako formy percepcji społecznej odmienności kulturowej, wreszcie stan zaawansowania prac na budowaniem ideologii/polityki multikulturalizmu w naszym kraju. Wyżej wskazane kwestie zostaną omówione poprzez odwołanie się do danych demograficznych, analiz antropologicznych, socjologicznych i politologicznych, a także różnego typu dokumentów urzędowych, w tym aktów prawnych.
    Poland is per saldo an emigration country (over 3 million people left the country between 1980 and 2014). Demographic analyses predict significant ageing of the population and a population decline in the next decades. Immigrants constitute less than 2% of the Polish populace and for many of them Poland is a place of seasonal residence or transit point in their journey to Western Europe. Therefore, Poland and the Poles need cultural diversity that results from immigration. Poland needs its own policy/ideology of multiculturalism that would include the long-term goals of the state and all its present and future residents. This policy should integrate legislation with development of social awareness (the level of positive tolerance) through education and increased use of expert knowledge. It should also use positive and negative experience of multicultural states of the ‘old’ European Union. Polish migration policy needs a serious social debate that goes beyond the development of tools to respond to the phenomenon of migration. Currently, immigrants in Poland encounter manyadaptation and integration problems. They live separately from the host society and remain 'invisible'. Poland has just begun a long journey to build a modern open society and Polish inhabitants, using the Charles Taylor’s words, face the challenge of negotiations over the so-called space of recognition.

    The article concerns the child from an alcoholic family in a pre-school environment. The author presents a theoretical introduction on definitions important for understanding the subject, then addresses the subject of social pathology as a factor disturbing the durability of the family system. The topic of social roles in the alcoholic family and their impact on the child’s socialization process continue to arouse interest. Another issue raised in the article is the topic of co-dependence, starting from the general definition and understanding of the concept and ending with the impact of this phenomenon on the child’s functioning. The issue analyzed and reflected is as follows: a child from an alcoholic family as a student – in particular in relationships with teachers and peers. The author reflected moreover on the possible difficulties a child in a pathological family may encounter in the school environment, as well as on suggested practical solutions and a support network that may help the individual and its immediate environment to fight against difficulties and to motivate change. The article has an introduction and ending, which aptly sums up the issues dealt with.

    Nowadays, the subject of a family is often mentioned and researched. It’s needs, transformations, crisis, roles and functioning are widely discussed. It is indeed a very complex issue. The article present the theoretical background and mention diverse sources concerning issues such as: single families, preschool environment, child development, single parenting – definitionsand models, pre-school environment, child development, challenges and support for a child from single parent family in a kindergarten. The great role of teacher-educator and other specialists, but also working with institutions in the process of supporting the family. In the text the organization of comprehensive assistance for the child was also highlighted. In conclusion, the author referred to the results of her mini-resources and pointed to the need to support the child in the area of emotional and social functioning, which in case of children from single parent family is particularly vulnerable and shaky.

    Nadzorowana przez Straż Graniczną przestrzeń ośrodków detencyjnych dla cudzoziemców jest niedostępna dla obserwatorów z zewnątrz. Z tych samych względów nie mamy wglądu w praktyki związane z administrowaniem tą przestrzenią, regulowaniem zachowań personelu i pensjonariuszy. W latach 2018–2019 przeprowadzono w ośrodkach pierwsze w Polsce eksploracyjne badania naukowe, które były ukierunkowane na rozpoznanie zasad i standardów organizacji przedmiotowej przestrzeni i funkcjonowania w niej wszystkich kategorii aktorów społecznych. W artykule zaprezentowano wycinek tych badań, jaki stanowią wyobrażenia funkcjonariuszy reprezentujących władzę na temat tego, jak powinien wyglądać i funkcjonować idealny ośrodek detencyjny dla cudzoziemców. Dane wynikowe pozyskano w trakcie serii wywiadów fokusowych, które przeprowadzono we wszystkich ośrodkach strzeżonych w Polsce.
    The space in detention centers for foreigners in Poland is guarded by the border guards and it is unavailable for outsiders. Therefore, there is no opportunity for researchers to observe the practices related to administering this space and regulating the behavior of the staff and the detainees. Between 2018 and 2019, a first exploratory study in Poland targeted at the identification of rules and standards of the material organisation of the centers’ space and the performance of all the categories social actors. This article presents some results of the study regarding the centers’ management’s image of how the perfect detention center should be designed and organised. For data collection, the study used focus group interviews (FGI) in all Polish guarded detention centers.

    The future teacher, wanting to understand the child’s needs, his pursuit of self-realization and autonomy must build himself not only on theoretical knowledge, but also learn how to use this knowledge in educational practicum. In this context, preparing student teachers “through practicum for practicum” seems to be an extremely important element of their education, because only in this way will they be able to stimulate their own development, mature professionally, but also answer the question to what extent “being a teacher” is their true calling. Student teachers, especially those who have practicum in grades 1-3 of elementary school, pay more attention to the gradual departure in many institutions from the implementation of the concept of integrated education. The information obtained by them indicates that the “modifications”of the model of this education are largely caused by anxiety caused by low results achieved by children in tests aimed at checking the effectiveness of education. Undoubtedly, this is a cause for serious concern and remedial action, however, according to our research, many students are concerned that during lectures or even laboratories, run by some specialists realizing specificsubjects, they are only passive observers and have no opportunity to learn how to, in school conditions, complementarily combine tasks from many educational areas, in accordance with the assumptions of integral education. Thus, there is a significantdiscrepancy between the tasks carried out as part of classes at the university and pedagogical practicum.The authors of the article focus on both theoretical aspects of the issues raised and the results of their own research.
