    The book Twórczość Leśmiana w kręgu filozoficznej myśli symbolizmu rosyjskiego written by Sobieska is a pioneering attempt at combining a discussion on the literary output of the author of Dziejba leśna with the reflection stemming from the tradition of the Eastern Orthodox Church. The book, notwithstanding its shortcomings and self-imposed limitations, comprehensively discusses views and opinions hitherto unknown to the Polish reader, introduces and explains the context of the findings of such thinkers as Soloviov or Biely, compares texts written by Russian symbolists with Leśmian’s poems. Sobieska categorizes the problem issues into subsequent thematic ranges (epiphany insight into the nature of being, musicality and the notion of poetical metre, creative imagination, mystical femininity) in order to point at potential sources of the recontextualization of Leśmian’s poetical sensitivity. The findings, being an example of classic comparatistic studies, have been enhanced by iconological and musicological observations as well as by some additional guiding elements facilitating the understanding of Orthodox theology. The present sketch discusses the book and is complemented with a polemics with some of its methodological solutions.

    The paper’s aim is mainly propaedeutic: to provide the reader with the explanation of basic concepts of Derridean ‘Hauntology’. The first part of the article is based on three concurrent publications: first of all on the Polish translation of Specters of Marx by Jacques Derrida (2016) but also on Widmontologie nowoczesności  by Jakub Momro (2014) and Widmontologia by Andrzej Marzec (2014). It focuses on the concepts of spectralization of being, spectralization of time and the “visor effect”. In the second part of the paper one can find applications of the hauntology to the contemporary cultural critical practice (e.g. to teletechnologies).

    Artykuł jest krytycznym komentarzem do książki Pawła Mackiewicza Sequel. O poezji Marcina Sendeckiego (2015). Autor dostrzega pionierską rolę pierwszej monografii na temat poety w usytuowaniu twórcy w tradycji literackiej (zarówno polskiej, jak i światowej), jednocześnie dostrzega pewne ograniczenia wynikające z przyjętej strategii lekturowej. Podkreślone zostaje „konserwatywne” stanowisko wobec zadań filologii prezentowane przez Mackiewicza. Tekst zadaje pytanie o możliwość rozszerzenia tytułowej kategorii „sequelu” (np. w kontekście dekonstrukcyjnej l’hantologie) tak, aby stała się narzędziem opisu kultury.
    The article offers a critical commentary on Paweł Mackiewicz’s Sequel. O poezji Marcina Sendeckiego (2015). The author recognizes the pioneering role of the first monograph on Sendecki, in its effort to situate the poet within literary tradition (both the Polish and the world traditions), and simultaneously addresses certain limitations that result from the reading strategy Mackiewicz chooses to adopt. A “conservative” position vis-à-vis the scholarly tasks presented by Mackiewicz is underscored. The article poses the question of whether it is possible to expand the titular category of the sequel (for example in the context of the deconstructionist notion of l’hantologie) in such a way that it might become a tool for the description of cultural phenomena.

    Artykuł poświęcony jest recenzji książki Joanny Dybiec-Gajer pt. Złota różdżka – od książki dla dzieci po dreszczowiec raczej dla dorosłych (Kraków 2017), w której autorka analizuje polską historię przekładu i recepcji światowego bestselleru Heinricha Hoffmanna pt. Struwwelpeter. W dalszej części artykułu zaprezentowany został nowy polski przekład dzieła Hoffmanna pt. Złota różdżka (Egmont 2017). Rezultaty badań Dybiec-Gajer stają się następnie asumptem do refleksji nad tradycją czytania i przekładania literatury dla dzieci w Polsce przy szczególnym uwzględnieniupolskojęzycznej recepcji baśni braci Grimm i związanego z nimi stereotypowego przekonania o ich szczególnym „okrucieństwie”.
    The paper is first of all a review of Joanna Dybiec-Gajer’s book Złota różdżka – od książki dla dzieci po dreszczowiec raczej dla dorosłych (2017) which discusses the translation and reception of the worldwide bestseller by Heinrich Hoffmann Struwwelpeter in Poland. Apart from this, a contemporary Polish adaptation of the German original is presented (Złota różdżka, Warsaw: Egmont 2017). Dybiec-Gajer’s research, presented in the discussed book, opens up questions concerning reception and translation of (German) children’s literature in Poland, including the Children’s and Household Tales by Brothers Grimm, especially the concept of their “cruelty” which seems to be based on prejudice and results from lacking knowledge of the original fairy tales.

    The article presents the relationship between Frédéric Chopin and Zygmunt Krasiński both on the biographical level and in the relationship between the word and the sound that Krasiński often wrote about in his letters. A special expression of the dialogue between poetry and music described by the poet are Chopin’s compositions to the words of poets contemporary to him, which is especially true about the words of the motto from Krasiński’s poem Ostatni (The last poem). It is extraordinary in the context of Chopin’s songs as it is not only a musical illustration, but also a sophisticated interpretation of the text through music. The attempts to present poetic content through musical notation presented in the article lead to the conclusion about Chopin as a conscious recipient of a literary work who, like Krasiński, saw in the symbiosis of word and sound the possibility for expressing internal experience.
