Opis:
The language of film art, or the artistic language of cinematography, is not a separate kind of language of moving images. It is only its specific kind whose basic function consists in looking for the ever newer layers of cinematographic expression in film, TV spectacle, video-art, "light, music and sound" performance and the like. The work of art of the moving image appears to be an utterance constructed in a peculiar manner. Signs used in it become signs of signs, images shown are images of images. Such a work, due to the specificity of its formation is characterised by information capability which is considerably higher than that of an ordinary non-artistic communication. The model of reality contained in it is richer, which results from a much deeper combination of elements co-creating its structure and its characteristic expression. Many meanings as a semantic principle and as an element of the art of moving images which is of main importance, distinguishes the work of this art from all the other kinds of cinematographic communications, which generally avoid the effect of many meanings.

Opis:
The article discusses the figure and the work of the poet from the Saxon times in Poland. The first part of the article presents some essential biographical data and his most important literary achievements – from his debut poem Trąba wiekopomnej sławy..., through the translations of the Latin works of Ovid and Lucan, to poems written in the Polish language, such as Biblical poems and other cycles of poems. The other part of the article includes a discussion on the history of the reception of Chrościński’s works and the opinions on his literary output given by literary critics and contemporary historians of literature. Diverse and not equivocal opinions emerge – from decidedly favourable to those more restrained and even critical. However, the popularity of the poems written by Chrościński in the seventeenth and the eighteenth centuries is remarkable. This popularity wanes in the course of time and slowly but steadily he becomes an unknown author, rarely recalled and selectively cited. The varied and divergent attitudes of historians of literature make us fully accept the following opinion given by Brückner: “Chrościński highly deserves a closer study of his literary output”. Accordingly, the latter postulate is an invitation to a thorough and deepened investigation of the works of the poet.

This paper tackles upon John Scottus Eriugena’s concept of the return while presenting it against the background of the Neoplatonic teaching about return (epistrophe). The return belongs to the conceptual triad: mone-proodos-epistrophe which used to serve Neoplatonic thinkers to describe the structure of reality and its dependence on the First Cause. In the system of Eriugena who bequeathed that very teaching from the Christian Neoplatonists (Pseudo-Dionysius, Maximus the Confessor, Gregory of Nyssa), we talk about the return on metaphysical and mystical level in addition to the general return (reditus generalis) and the return of the elects (reditus specialis). Eriugena indicates the cyclical processes in the whole nature but at the same time he stresses that the return is caused by divine grace and the very condition of its possibility is the fact of taking fl esh (incarnatio) and taking human nature (inhumanatio) by Jesus Christ.

Opis:
The article describes a forgotten work of Daniel Naborowski – “De temperamentis disputatio medica” (1593). Naborowski was a poet who lived at the turn of the 17th century and the work considered here is the result of his medical studies in Switzerland. The article addresses the poet’s scholarly interests, but first and foremost, it focuses on the subject of the research – the theory of temperaments. With ancient lineage and extremely popular in the sixteenth century, the theory was most frequently presented in the contexts of physiognomy, astrology and the lesions that were conditioned by the theory, yet in Naborowski’s work, it gained a new, solely theoretical perspec-tive. It was also concerned with the meticulous consideration of the systematics of temperaments (e.g. their differentiation – one was moderate and eight were merged, as well as their detailed division). The style of these considerations is characteristic for medical works of that period, and they constitute an interesting example of how practical issues in 16th and 17th century medicine were systematized. Furthermore, Naborowski’s considerations are a vivid example of permeable nature of disciplines – philosophy and medicine, and medicine with the broadly understood field of the humanities.

Opis:
The article contains critical remarks regarding copyright law of 1994 and identifies deficiencies of the regulation of basic questions, such as the scope of copyright. The author focuses on the requirements upon which protection of a copyrighted work depends, including in particular, the requirement that every manifestation of a creative activity having individual character be treated as subject to copyright. The functioning of creativity requirement in jurisprudence and legal literature is then criticized as being contrary to Directive 2009/24/EC of the European Parliament and the Council on the protection of computer programs. In the author’s opinion the definition of work in copyright law of 1926 was more accurate. He further claims that also the provisions of Articles 5 and 7 copyright law of 1994 are contrary to Article 46 of international private law of 2011 and Article 91 of the Polish Constitution. Consequently, those two articles, as well as Article 14.2 should be deleted from copyright law of 1994.
91 Konstytucji RP. Autor jest zdania, że przepisy art. 5 i 7 oraz art. 14 ust. 2 powinny być one usunięte z ustawy o prawie autorskim.

Opis:
Mikołaj Kotwicz of Żnin (c. 1440–1507) studied law at the Jagiellonian University and probably graduated in Bologna, where he earned a doctor’s degree. Having returned to his country, he was ordained a priest and found employment at the court of Zbigniew Oleśnicki, the Primate of Poland. In Renaissance Italy, where the works of ancient writers drew much scholarly interest, he acquired a wide knowledge of ancient history and literature, as well as mastered Latin and learned poetic art. His command of the latter is evident in his unfinished work “Sbigneis”. It was the only epic poem in medieval Poland, unfortunately made only as an exposition, with the narrative cutting off at the mid point of the hexameter. The poem, modeled on ancient epics such as Greek Iliad by Homer, Roman “Punica” by Silius Italicus, or “Pharsalia” by Lucan, was supposed to narrate a long-standing armed conflict between the related houses of Oleśnicki and Gruszczyński. The idea to embark on such an interesting social issue, albeit touched upon in an exposition only, attests to Kotwicz’s considerable talent and unusual poetic art. The conflict and the composition are clearly outlined; the Latin lan - guage and dactylic hexameter are impeccable. The style of the narrative and the rhetorical figures featured therein are well suited to the epic genre. Only an elaboration of the topic and the ending are missing. The talented author would probably have finished the poem if it had not been for the unfortunate external circumstance following the real-world death of the main character (Zbigniew Oleśnicki), a difficulty that Kotwicz was unable to surmount. Therefore, the epic muse Calliope did not spread her wings in the Polish Middle Ages, even though she was on the right way thanks to a poet from Żnin.

Opis:
Rev. Prof. Marian Wolniewicz is one of the most outstanding contemporary biblical scholars of the Poznań theological milieu. From his youth until the end of his life (t 2005) he wrote personal lyric poetry. A selection of his poems was published posthumously by the Theological Faculty of Adam Mickiewicz University in a volume titled A Spiritual Diary in Verse edited by Feliks Lenort with an introduction by Zdzisław Grzegorski, a theologian and scholar of Polish literature. The poems predominantly express man's religious experience through impressions of the moment and feelings evoked by sights of the landscape, but the lyric subject does not define himself through realities characteristic of a priest and theologian. In his poetic attitude Rev. Marian Wolniewicz was inspired by the poetry of Wojciech Bąk and the French symbolists. Similarly to Stephane Mallarme he fulfilled the concepts of subsequent poems as a continuation of one single oeuvre which would finish with the death of the author. His last poetic notation was also his last attempt to translate a verse from the Gospel according to John.

Opis:
The article describes new phenomena in the field of literature that have developed under the influence of digital technology. It points out to the conversion of the ontology of works and modification of the nature of perception that are associated with digital media. Literature created in digital technology becomes an audiovisual and multimedia experience. Its audience is given a new kind of experience based on participation. Participation is related to interactivity, which is one of the basic features of digital objects. They need action rather than contemplation to reveal. The authoress points out that, in new literary phenomena, digital medium becomes an important part of the work. It influences its structure, functions, manner of existence, and strategies for impact on the recipient. Every act of interactive reading is transformed into a performance – a oneoff and a unique event. Reading is transformed from contemplation into action engaging the reader’s physicality. Description of this modification of literary communication and the poetics of reception can be the key to understanding the essence of e-literature.

This article addresses the problem of the original addressee of the dedication inscribed in the book entitled Sarmatiae Europeae descriptio by A. Gwagnin (Alessandro Guagnini). A unique copy of the book published in 1574 found by the author in Bibliothćque Mazarine in Paris has shed light on the question posed in the title. Gwagnin’s work was originally dedicated to Henry of Valois and it was only after the well-know string of historical events and his notorious flight from Poland (as he secretly left Poland to ascend the French throne) that the dedication was changed, on the initiative of the publisher, to that of Stephen Batory of Poland. This discovery changes the dating of the book adopted hitherto in available monographs and bibliographies.

This article expounds the rediscovered and unpublished manuscript by Father Franciszek Mirek God Christ and the People. A Sociological Study. Father Franciszek Mirek was the first Polish sociologist who was a member of the group of Florian Zaniecki’s students. The recovered manuscript offers an innovative look at the elements of the history of salvation seen through the eyes of a sociologist. The introduction to the paper presents the profile of Father Franciszek Mirek and his most important works. Further parts present the rediscovered manuscript of Fr. Mirek. On its basis the following issues are discussed: the Bible as a source of sociographic data, people as partners in relationship with Christ, the apogee of relations between God and a man in the mystery of the Incarnation of the Son of God and faith as a precondition of human communication with God Christ.
