Opis:
The testing problem on the first-order autoregressive parameter in finite sample case is considered. The innovations are distributed according to the exponential distribution. The aim of this paper is to study how much the size of this test changes when, at some time k, an innovation outlier contaminant occurs. We show that the test is rather sensitive to these changes.

Opis:
Let γ(G) and γe(G) denote the domination number and exponential domination number of graph G, respectively. Henning et al., in [Hereditary equality of domination and exponential domination, Discuss. Math. Graph Theory 38 (2018) 275–285] gave a conjecture: There is a finite set ℱ of graphs such that a graph G satisfies (H) = γe(H) for every induced subgraph H of G if and only if G is ℱ-free. In this paper, we study the conjecture for subcubic graphs. We characterize the class ℱ by minimal forbidden induced subgraphs and prove that the conjecture holds for subcubic graphs.

Opis:
We consider nonlinear non-autonomous multivariable systems governed by differential equations with differentiable linear parts. Explicit conditions for the exponential stability are established. These conditions are formulated in terms of the norms of the derivatives and eigenvalues of the variable matrices, and certain scalar functions characterizing the nonlinearity. Moreover, an estimate for the solutions is derived. It gives us a bound for the region of attraction of the steady state. As a particular case we obtain absolute stability conditions.
Our approach is based on a combined usage of the properties of the "frozen" Lyapunov equation, and recent norm estimates for matrix functions. An illustrative example is given.

Opis:
Time series analysis deals with records that are collected over time. The objectives of time series analysis depend on the applications, but one of the main goals is to predict future values of the series. These values depend, usually in a stochastic manner, on the observations available at present. Such dependence has to be considered when predicting the future from its past, taking into account trend, seasonality and other features of the data. Some of the most successful forecasting methods are based on the concept of exponential smoothing. There are a variety of methods that fall into the exponential smoothing family, each having the property that forecasts are weighted combinations of past observations. But time series analysis needs proper statistical modeling. The model that better describes the behavior of the series in study can be crucial in obtaining 'good' forecasts. Departures from the true underlying distribution can adversely affect those forecasts. Resampling techniques have been considered in many situations to overcome that difficulty. For time series, several authors have proposed bootstrap methodologies. Here we will present an automatic procedure built in R language that first selects the best exponential smoothing model (among a set of possibilities) for fitting the data, followed by a bootstrap approach for obtaining forecasts. A real data set has been used to illustrate the performance of the proposed procedure.

Studentization and analysis of variance are simple in Gaussian families because X̅ and S² are independent random variables. We exploit the independence of the spacings in exponential populations with location λ and scale δ to develop simple ways of dealing with inference on the location parameter, namely by developing an analysis of scale in the homocedastic independent k-sample problem.
