Opis:
Let ₃ denote the variety of alternative commutative (Jordan) algebras defined by the identity x³ = 0, and let ₂ be the subvariety of the variety ₃ of solvable algebras of solviability index 2. We present an infinite independent system of identities in the variety ₃ ∩ ₂₂. Therefore we infer that ₃ ∩ ₂₂ contains a continuum of infinite based subvarieties and that there exist algebras with an unsolvable words problem in ₃ ∩ ₂₂.
It is worth mentioning that these results were announced in 1999 in works of the international conference "Loops’99" (Prague).

Opis:
Step nesting designs may be very useful since they require fewer observations than the usual balanced nesting models. The number of treatments in balanced nesting design is the product of the number of levels in each factor. This number may be too large. As an alternative, in step nesting designs the number of treatments is the sum of the factor levels. Thus these models lead to a great economy and it is easy to carry out inference. To study the algebraic structure of step nesting designs we introduce the cartesian product of commutative Jordan algebras.

Generalized hypersubstitutions are mappings from the set of all fundamental operations into the set of all terms of the same language do not necessarily preserve the arities. Strong hyperidentities are identities which are closed under the generalized hypersubstitutions and a strongly solid variety is a variety which every its identity is a strong hyperidentity. In this paper we give an example of pre-strongly solid varieties of commutative semigroups and determine the least and the greatest pre-strongly solid variety of commutative semigroups.

Commutative Jordan algebras are used to express the structure of mixed orthogonal models and to derive complete sufficient statistics. From these statistics, UMVUE, (Uniformly Minimum Variance Unbiased Estimators), are derived for the relevant parameters, first of single models then of several such models. These models may correspond to experiments designed separately so our results may be seen as a contribution to this meta-analysis.

Commutative Jordan algebras play a central part in orthogonal models. We apply the concepts of genealogical tree of an Jordan algebra associated to a linear mixed model in an experiment conducted to study optimal choosing of dentist materials. Apart from the conclusions of the experiment itself, we show how to proceed in order to take advantage of the great possibilities that Jordan algebras and mixed linear models give to practitioners.

We introduce the concept of very true operator on a commutative basic algebra in a way analogous to that for fuzzy logics. We are motivated by the fact that commutative basic algebras form an algebraic axiomatization of certain non-associative fuzzy logics. We prove that every such operator is fully determined by a certain relatively complete sublattice provided its idempotency is assumed.

The concept of a commutative directoid was introduced by J. Ježek and R. Quackenbush in 1990. We complete this algebra with involutions in its sections and show that it can be converted into a certain implication algebra. Commutative Jordan algebras are used to drive an highly tractable framework for balanced factorial designs with a prime number p of levels for their factors. Both fixed effects and random effects models are treated. Sufficient complete statistics are obtained and used to derive UMVUE for the relevant parameters. Confidence regions are obtained and it is shown how to use duality for hypothesis testing.

Opis:
Stair nesting allows us to work with fewer observations than the most usual form of nesting, the balanced nesting. In the case of stair nesting the amount of information for the different factors is more evenly distributed. This new design leads to greater economy, because we can work with fewer observations. In this work we present the algebraic structure of the cross of balanced nested and stair nested designs, using binary operations on commutative Jordan algebras. This new cross requires fewer observations than the usual cross balanced nested designs and it is easy to carry out inference.

It is well known that a power of a right invertible operator is again right invertible, as well as a polynomial in a right invertible operator under appropriate assumptions. However, a linear combination of right invertible operators (in particular, their sum and/or difference) in general is not right invertible. It will be shown how to solve equations with linear combinations of right invertible operators in commutative algebras using properties of logarithmic and antilogarithmic mappings. The used method is, in a sense, a kind of the variables separation method. We shall obtain also an analogue of the classical Fourier method for partial differential equations. Note that the results concerning the Fourier method are proved under weaker assumptions than these obtained in [6] (cf. also [7, 8, 11]).
