Opis:
analysis is carried out to study chemically reactive, viscous dissipative effects of an incompressible and electrically conducting fluid with MHD free convection adjacent to a vertical surface with variable thermal conductivity (VTD) and variable mass diffusivity (VMD). An approximate numerical solution for the steady laminar boundary layer flow over a wall of the surface in the presence of species concentration and thermal mass diffusion has been studied. Using numerical techniques the governing boundary layer equations are solved to get the exact solution. Numerical calculations are carried out for different values of dimensionless parameters. The results are exhibited through various graphs and it is observed from the analysis of the results that the velocity field is appreciably influenced by the magnetic effect, porous effect, chemical reaction and buoyancy ratio between the species and thermal diffusion at the wall of the surface.

Opis:
The purpose of this paper is to consider a two dimensional free convective flow of a nanofluid due to the combined effects of thermal and mass diffusion in the presence of a chemical reaction of first order. The objective of the present investigation is to analyze the free convective flow in the presence of prescribed wall heat flux and mass flux condition. The governing equations of the linear momentum, energy equation and concentration are obtained in a dimensionless form by introducing a suitable group of similarity transformations. The transformed coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations are solved numerically by using appropriate boundary conditions for the various values of physical parameters. Computations are performed for a wide range of values of the various governing flow parameters of the velocity, temperature and species concentration profiles and results are presented graphically. Numerical results for the skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt number are also presented and analyzed in detail. The obtained results are compared with previously published work and are found to be in excellent agreement. The results are a very useful source of information for researchers on the subject of a free convective flow of a nanofluid. This paper illustrates chemical reaction effects on free convective flow of a nanofluid from a vertical plate with uniform heat and mass fluxes.

Opis:
In this paper, we present the mathematical study of heat and mass transfer effects on an arterial blood flow under the influence of an applied magnetic field with chemical reaction. A case of mild stenosis is considered in a non-tapered artery which is inclined at an angle γ from the axis. The variable viscosity of the blood is considered varying with the hematocrit ratio. Governing non-linear differential equations have been solved by using an analytical scheme, homotopy perturbation method to obtain the solution for the velocity, temperature and concentration profiles of the blood flow. For having an adequate insight to blood flow behavior through a stenosed artery, graphs have been plotted for wall shear stress, velocity, temperature and concentration profiles with varying values of the applied magnetic field, chemical reaction parameter and porosity parameter. The results show that in an inclined artery, the magnitude of the wall shear stress at stenosis throat increases as values of the applied magnetic field increase while it reduces as the values of both the chemical reaction and porosity parameters increase. Contour plots have been plotted to show the variations of the velocity profile of blood flow as the values of the height of the stenosis as well as the influence of the applied magnetic field increase.

The longitudinal dispersion of a solute between two parallel plates filled with two immiscible electrically conducting fluids is analyzed using Taylor’s model. The fluids in both the regions are incompressible and the transport properties are assumed to be constant. The channel walls are assumed to be electrically insulating. Separate solutions are matched at the interface using suitable matching conditions. The flow is accompanied by an irreversible first-order chemical reaction. The effects of the viscosity ratio, pressure gradient and Hartman number on the effective Taylor dispersion coefficient and volumetric flow rate for an open and short circuit are drawn in the absence and in the presence of chemical reactions. As the Hartman number increases the effective Taylor diffusion coefficient decreases for both open and short circuits. When the magnetic field remains constant, the numerical results show that for homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions, the effective Taylor diffusion coefficient decreases with an increase in the reaction rate constant for both open and short circuits.

A free convection viscous MHD flow over a semi-infinite vertical sheet with convective heat and mass conditions has been considered. The effects of thermal radiation, chemical reaction and Joule heating on flow are also accounted. The governing nonlinear partial differential equations have been transformed into a set of highly non-linear coupled ordinary differential equations (ODEs) using appropriate similarity transformations. Numerical solutions of transformed equations are obtained by employing the 5th order Runge-Kutta Fehlberg technique followed by the shooting technique. The influences of different flow parameters on the momentum, energy and mass field are discussed and shown graphically. Results reveal that temperature and concentration profiles enhance due to increasing heat and mass Biot number parameters.

Opis:
This study examines the effect of thermal radiation, chemical reaction and viscous dissipation on a magnetohydro- dynamic flow in between a pair of infinite vertical Couette channel walls. The momentum equation accounts the effects of both the thermal and the concentration buoyancy forces of the flow. The energy equation addresses the effects of the thermal radiation and viscous dissipation of the flow. Also, the concentration equation includes the effects of molecular diffusivity and chemical reaction parameters. The gray colored fluid considered in this study is a non-scattering medium and has the property of absorbing and emitting radiation. The Roseland approximation is used to describe the radiative heat flux in the energy equation. The velocity of flow transforms kinetic energy into heat energy. The increment of the velocity due to internal energy results in heating up of the fluid and consequently it causes increment of the thermal buoyancy force. The Eckert number being the ratio of the kinetic energy of the flow to the temperature difference of the channel walls is directly proportional to the thermal energy dissipation. It can be observed that increasing the Eckert number results in increasing velocity. A uniform magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the channel walls. The temperature of the moving wall is high enough due to the presence of thermal radiation. The solution of the governing equations is obtained using regular perturbation techniques. These techniques help to convert partial differential equations to a set of ordinary differential equations in dimensionless form and thus they are solved analytically. The following results are obtained: from the simulation study it is observed that the flow pattern of the fluid is affected due to the influence of the thermal radiation, the chemical reaction and viscous dissipation. The increment in the Hartmann number results in the increment of the Lorentz force but a decrement in velocity of the flow. An increment in the radiative parameter results in a decrement in temperature. An increment in the Prandtl number results in a decrement in thermal diffusivity. An increment in both the chemical reaction parameter and molecular diffusivity results in a decrement in concentration.

An exact solution of the combined study of Hall effects on a vertical plate with a rotating fluid in the presence of a homogeneous chemical reaction of first order has been analysed. The dimensionless governing coupled partial differential equations are tackled using the usual Laplace transform technique. The sway of the Hall parameter, Hartmann number, Grashof number, Prandtl number, Schmidt number, chemical reaction parameter on the axial velocity and concentration of the fluid has been depicted graphically. When the non-dimensional angular velocity, Ω=2M21+m.2, the transverse velocity component vanishes, thereby the axial velocity of the fluid attains the maximum value. It is noted that with increase in the Hall parameter, thermal Grashof number and mass Grashof number, the axial velocity of the fluid increases significantly.

An numerical study on an unsteady flow past an oscillating semi-infinite vertical plate with variable temperature and uniform mass diffusion under the influence of a first order chemical reaction has been carried out. The impact of heat and mass transfer effects on an MHD flow past an inclined porous plate in the presence of a chemical reaction is investigated in this study. An effort has been made to explain the Soret effect and the influence of an angle of inclination on the flow field, in the presence of the heat source, chemical reaction and thermal radiation. The momentum, energy and concentration equations are derived as coupled second order partial differential equations. The model is non-dimensionalized and shown to be controlled by a number of dimensionless parameters. The resulting dimensionless partial differential equations can be solved by using a closed analytical method. Numerical results for pertaining parameters, such as the Soret number (Sr), Grashof number (Gr) for heat and mass transfer, the Schmidt number (Sc), Prandtl number (Pr), chemical reaction parameter (Kr), permeability parameter (K), magnetic parameter (M), skin friction (τ), Nusselt number (Nu) and Sherwood number (Sh) on the velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are presented graphically and discussed qualitatively.

The effects of chemical reaction on a transient MHD mixed convection flow with mass transfer past an impulsively fixed infinite vertical plate under the influence of a transverse magnetic field have been presented. The medium is considered to be non-scattering and the fluid to be non-gray having emitting-absorbing and optically thick radiation limit properties. The dimensionless governing equations of the flow and mass transfer with boundary conditions are solved numerically by using the Ritz finite element method. The numerical results for the velocity, temperature and the concentration profiles as well as the skin-friction coefficient for different values of physical parameters such as the radiation parameter, magnetic parameter, Schmidt number and chemical reaction parameter have been obtained and presented through graphs and tables. It has been found that there is a fall in the temperature and velocity for both air and water as the radiation parameter is increased. An increase in the Schmidt number and chemical reaction parameter results a decrease in the concentration and velocity profiles for both air and water. Furthermore, an increase in the radiation parameter, magnetic parameter, Schmidt number and chemical reaction parameter decreases the skin-friction.

An exact solution of an unsteady radiative flow past a uniformly accelerated infinite vertical plate with variable temperature and mass diffusion is presented here, taking into account the homogeneous chemical reaction of first order. The velocity, temperature and concentration fields are studied for different physical parameters such as the thermal Grashof number, mass Grashof number, Schmidt number, Prandtl number, radiation parameter, chemical reaction parameter and time. It is observed that the velocity increases with increasing values of the thermal Grashof number or mass Grashof number. But the trend is just reversed with respect to the thermal radiation parameter. It is also observed that the velocity increases with the decreasing chemical reaction parameter.

In this article, we have discussed in detail the effect of Newtonian heating on MHD unsteady free convection boundary layer flow past an oscillating vertical porous plate embedded in a porous medium with thermal radiation, chemical reaction and heat absorption. The governing PDEs of the model together with related initial and boundary conditions have been solved numerically by the finite element method. The dimensionless velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are analyzed graphically due to the effects of key parameters in the concerned model problem. Computed results for the skin friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are put in tabular form. It is observed that the thermal and mass buoyancy effects support the velocity whilst a reverse effect is noticed when the strength of the magnetic field is increased. The velocity and temperature enhances with an increase in the Newtonian heating and thermal radiation whilst a reverse effect is observed with an increase in the Prandtl number and heat absorption parameter. Increasing Schmidt number and chemical reaction parameter tends to depreciate both velocity and concentration. The Newtonian heating, thermal radiation and magnetic field tends to decrease in the skin friction. The Nusselt number increases with increasing Newtonian heating and heat absorption parameters. An increase in the Schmidt number and chemical reaction rate tends to improve the Sherwood number.
