Opis:
The flow of a ferrofluid due to a rotating disk in the presence of a non-uniform magnetic field in the axial direction is studied through mathematical modeling of the problem. Contour and surface plots in the presence of 10 kilo-ampere/meter, 100 kilo-ampere/meter magnetization force are presented here for radial, tangential and axial velocity profiles, and results are also drawn for the magnetic field intensity. These results are compared with the ordinary case where magnetization force is absent.

A study of nonlinear waves in liquid-gas mixtures with the consideration of internal effects is an important problem of both the fundamental and the applied fluid mechanics. Investigation of nonlinear waves in the gas-liquid mixtures with allowance for internal effects is an important task of both fundamental and applied fluid mechanics. These problems often arise in industrial processes such as oil and gas production, hydrocarbons pipeline transportation, gas-saturated fluids flow in pipelines, etc. In this work, we investigate the effect of the internal electric field on the nonlinear wave propagation in a bubbly liquid. Numerical simulations have been conducted to study the nonlinear waves described by the nonlinear Burgers-Korteweg-de Vries equation. The numerical simulations showed that the electrokinetic processes significantly affect the wave propagation process. The amplitude of the waves gradually decreases when the size of the gas bubble is decreasing and the electrical potential increases. A good agreement of obtained results with our previous predictions is found.

Opis:
The instability of plane interface between two superposed Rivlin-Ericksen elastico-viscous fluids saturated through a porous medium has been studied to include the suspended (dust) particles effect. Following the linearized stability theory and normal mode analysis the dispersion relation is obtained. For stationary convection, the Rivlin-Ericksen elastico-viscous fluid behaves like Newtonian fluids. It found that for a potentially stable arrangement the Rivlin-Ericksen elastico-viscous fluid of different permeabilities in the presence of suspended particles in a porous medium is stable, whereas in a potentially unstable case instability of the system occurs. In the presence of a magnetic field for a potentially stable arrangement the system is always stable and for the potentially unstable arrangement, the magnetic field succeeds in stabilizing certain wave-number band which was unstable in the absence of the magnetic field.

Opis:
The paper discusses a new analytical procedure for solving the non-linear boundary layer equation arising in a linear stretching sheet problem involving a Newtonian/non-Newtonian liquid. On using a technique akin to perturbation the problem gives rise to a system of non-linear governing differential equations that are solved exactly. An analytical expression is obtained for the stream function and velocity as a function of the stretching parameters. The Clairaut equation is obtained on consideration of consistency and its solution is shown to be that of the stretching sheet boundary layer equation. The present study throws light on the analytical solution of a class of boundary layer equations arising in the stretching sheet problem.

Opis:
In this paper, we investigate the combined effect of internal heating and time periodic gravity modulation in a viscoelastic fluid saturated porous medium by reducing the problem into a complex non-autonomous Ginzgburg-Landau equation. Weak nonlinear stability analysis has been performed by using power series expansion in terms of the amplitude of gravity modulation, which is assumed to be small. The Nusselt number is obtained in terms of the amplitude for oscillatory mode of convection. The influence of viscoelastic parameters on heat transfer has been discussed. Gravity modulation is found to have a destabilizing effect at low frequencies and a stabilizing effect at high frequencies. Finally, it is found that overstability advances the onset of convection, more with internal heating. The conditions for which the complex Ginzgburg-Landau equation undergoes Hopf bifurcation and the amplitude equation undergoes supercritical pitchfork bifurcation are studied.

Opis:
An analytical solution to the equation for cooling of a unit, in the interior of which heat is generated, is presented. For that reason, a simplified non non-stationary model for determination of the temperature distribution within the unit, temperature of the contact between unit and a liquid layer, and the evaporating layer thickness in the function of time, is elaborated. A theoretical analysis of the external cooling of the unit, by considering the phenomenon of the liquid evaporation with the use of the Fourier and Poisson’s equations, is given. Both, stationary - and non-stationary description of the cooling are shown. The obtained results of simulation seems to be useful in designing the similar cooling systems. A calculation mode for a cooling systems equipped with the compressor heat pump, as an effective cooling method, is also performed.
Rozwiązano dwa przypadki chłodzenia: stacjonarny i niestacjonarny.

Opis:
A fluid flow and heat transfer analysis of an electrically conducting non-Newtonian power law fluid flowing over a non-linear stretching surface in the presence of a transverse magnetic field taking into consideration viscous dissipation effects is investigated. The stretching velocity, the temperature and the transverse magnetic field are assumed to vary in a power-law with the distance from the origin. The flow is induced due to an infinite elastic sheet which is stretched in its own plane. The governing equations are reduced to non-linear ordinary differential equations by means of similarity transformations. By using quasi-linearization techniques first linearize the non linear momentum equation is linearized and then the coupled ordinary differential equations are solved numerically by an implicit finite difference scheme. The numerical solution is found to be dependent on several governing parameters, including the magnetic field parameter, power-law index, Eckert number, velocity exponent parameter, temperature exponent parameter, modified Prandtl number and heat source/sink parameter. A systematic study is carried out to illustrate the effects of these parameters on the fluid velocity and the temperature distribution in the boundary layer. The results for the local skin-friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number are tabulated and discussed.

Opis:
Soret driven ferrothermoconvective instability in multi-component fluids has a wide range of applications in heat and mass transfer. This paper deals with the theoretical investigation of the effect of temperature dependent viscosity on a Soret driven ferrothermohaline convection heated from below and salted from above subjected to a transverse uniform magnetic field in the presence of a porous medium. The Brinkman model is used in the study. It is found that the stationary mode of instability is preferred. For a horizontal fluid layer contained between two free boundaries an exact solution is examined using the normal mode technique for a linear stability analysis. The effect of salinity has been included in magnetization and density of the fluid. The critical thermal magnetic Rayleigh number for the onset of instability is obtained numerically for sufficiently large values of the buoyancy magnetization parameter M1 using the method of numerical Galerkin technique. It is found that magnetization and permeability of the porous medium destabilize the system. The effect of temperature dependent viscosity stabilizes the system on the onset of convection.
