Opis:
Perspective problems arise in machine vision when using a camera to observe the scene. Essential problems include the identification of unknown states and/or unknown parameters from perspective observations. Range identification is used to estimate the states/positions of a moving object with known motion parameters. Range estimation has been discussed in the literature using nonlinear observers with full homogeneous observations derived from the image plane. In this paper, the same range identification problem is discussed with a single homogeneous observation using nonlinear observers. Our simulation results verify the convergence of the observers when their observability conditions are satisfied.

In this paper, we associate field-oriented control with a powerful nonlinear robust flux observer for an induction motor to show the improvement made by this observer compared with the open-loop and classical estimator used in this type of control. We implement this design strategy through an extension of a special class of nonlinear multivariable systems satisfying some regularity assumptions. We show by an extensive study that this observer is completely satisfactory at low and nominal speeds and it is not sensitive to disturbances and parametric errors. It is robust to changes in load torque, rotational speed and rotor resistance. The method achieves a good performance with only one easier gain tuning obtained from an algebraic Lyapunov equation. Finally, we present results and simulations with concluding remarks on the advantages and perspectives for the observer proposed with the field-oriented control.

We propose a new observer where the model, decomposed in generalized canonical form of regulation described by Fliess, is dissociated from the part assuring error correction. The obtained stable exact estimates give direct access to state variables in the form of successive derivatives. The dynamic response of the observer converges exponentially, as long as the nonlinearities are locally of Lipschitz type. In this case, we demonstrate that a quadratic Lyapunov function provides a number of inequalities which guarantee at least local stability. A synthesis of gains is proposed, independent of the observation time scale. Simulations of a Düffing system and a Lorenz strange attractor illustrate theoretical developments.

Opis:
We propose a new type of Proportional Integral (PI) state observer for a class of nonlinear systems in continuous time which ensures an asymptotic stable convergence of the state estimates. Approximations of non-linearity are not necessary to obtain such results, but the functions must be, at least locally, of the Lipschitz type. The obtained state variables are exact and robust against noise. Naslin’s damping criterion permits synthesizing gains in an algebraically simple and efficient way. Both the speed and damping of the observer response are controlled in this way. Model simulations based on a Sprott strange attractor are discussed as an example.

In this paper we investigate the local stabilizability of single-input nonlinear affine systems by means of an estimated state feedback law given by a bilinear observer. The associated bilinear approximating system is assumed to be observable for any input and stabilizable by a homogeneous feedback law of degree zero. Furthermore, we discuss the case of planar systems which admit bad inputs (i.e. the ones that make bilinear systems unobservable). A separation principle for such systems is given.

Opis:
This paper is concerned with observer design for nonlinear systems that are modeled by T–S fuzzy systems containing parametric and nonparametric uncertainties. Unlike most Sugeno models, the proposed method contains nonlinear functions in the consequent part of the fuzzy IF-THEN rules. This will allow modeling a wider class of systems with smaller modelling errors. The consequent part of each rule contains a linear part plus a nonlinear term, which has an incremental quadratic constraint. This constraint relaxes the conservativeness introduced by other regular constraints for nonlinearities such as the Lipschitz conditions. To further reduce the conservativeness, a nonlinear injection term is added to the observer dynamics. Simulation examples show the effectiveness of the proposed method compared with the existing techniques reported in well-established journals.

Integrated design of observer based Fault Detection (FD) for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with Lipschitz nonlinearities is studied. In the context of norm based residual evaluation, the residual generator and evaluator are designed together in an integrated form, and, based on it, a trade-off FD system is finally achieved in the sense that, for a given Fault Detection Rate (FDR), the False Alarm Rate (FAR) is minimized. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

Opis:
The problem of fault detection and isolation in a class of nonlinear systems having a Hamiltonian representation is considered. In particular, a model of a planar vertical take-off and landing aircraft with sensor and actuator faults is studied. A Hamiltonian representation is derived from an Euler–Lagrange representation of the system model considered. In this form, nonlinear decoupling is applied in order to obtain subsystems with (as much as possible) specific fault sensitivity properties. The resulting decoupled subsystem is represented as a Hamiltonian system and observer-based residual generators are designed. The results are presented through simulations to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This paper presents direct model reference adaptive control for a class of nonlinear systems with unknown nonlinearities. The model following conditions are assured by using adaptive neural networks as the nonlinear state feedback controller. Both full state information and observer-based schemes are investigated. All the signals in the closed loop are guaranteed to be bounded and the system state is proven to converge to a small neighborhood of the reference model state. It is also shown that stability conditions can be formulated as linear matrix inequalities (LMI) that can be solved using efficient software algorithms. The control performance of the closed-loop system is guaranteed by suitably choosing the design parameters. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the approach.

Opis:
We consider the problem of joint estimation of states and some constant parameters for a class of nonlinear discrete-time systems. This class contains systems that could be transformed into a quasi-LPV (linear parameter varying) polytopic model in the Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) form. Such systems could have unmeasured premise variables, a case usually overlooked in the observer design literature. We assert that, for such systems in discrete-time, the current literature lacks design strategies for joint state and parameter estimation. To this end, we adapt the existing literature on continuous-time linear systems for joint state and time-varying parameter estimation. We first develop the discrete-time version of this result for linear systems. A Lyapunov approach is used to illustrate stability, and bounds for the estimation error are obtained via the bounded real lemma. We use this result to achieve our objective for a design procedure for a class of nonlinear systems with constant parameters. This results in less conservative conditions and a simplified design procedure. A basic waste water treatment plant simulation example is discussed to illustrate the design procedure.
