Opis:
In this paper three simple flows of visco-plastic fluids of DeHaven type or fluids similar to them are considered. These flows are: Poiseuille flow in a plane channel, Poiseuille flow through a circular pipe and rotating Couette flow between two coaxial cylinders. After presentation DeHaven model it was presented some models of fluids similar to this model. Next it was given the solutions of equations of motion for three flows mentioned above.

The flow of a couple-stress lubricant in a clearance of a curvilinear thrust hydrostatic bearing with impermeable walls is considered. The flow in the bearing clearance is considered with inertia forces. The equations of motion are solved by an averaged inertia method. As a result, the formulae for pressure distributions without and with inertia effects were obtained. Radial thrust bearings and spherical bearings are discussed as numerical examples. It is shown that inertia effects influence the bearing performance considerably.

Opis:
The paper investigates the possibility of decomposing vibration signals into deterministic and nondeterministic parts, based on the Wold theorem. A short description of the theory of adaptive filters is presented. When an adaptive filter uses the delayed version of the input signal as the reference signal, it is possible to divide the signal into a deterministic (gear and shaft related) part and a nondeterministic (noise and rolling bearings) part. The idea of the self-adaptive filter (in the literature referred to as SANC or ALE) is presented and its most important features are discussed. The flowchart of the Matlab-based SANC algorithm is also presented. In practice, bearing fault signals are in fact nondeterministic components, due to a little jitter in their fundamental period. This phenomenon is illustrated using a simple example. The paper proposes a simulation of a signal containing deterministic and nondeterministic components. The self-adaptive filter is then applied- first to the simulated data. Next, the filter is applied to a real vibration signal from a wind turbine with an outer race fault. The necessity of resampling the real signal is discussed. The signal from an actual source has a more complex structure and contains a significant noise component, which requires additional demodulation of the decomposed signal. For both types of signals the proposed SANC filter shows a very good ability to decompose the signal.

Opis:
It is known that supported ball bearings have great effects on the vibrations of the gear transmission system, above in all the presence of local faults as well as the crack growths. For this purpose, this paper focuses on shock and vibration crack growth diagnostic of ball bearing using vibration analysis. Our work is devoted first to a study the static behaviour of the ball bearing by determining the stress, strain and displacement, then its dynamic behaviour by determining the first four natural frequencies. Secondly, a dynamic analysis study of the bearing was carried with defects as a function of crack size and location. The obtained results clearly show that the natural frequencies decrease in a non-linear way with the growth of the length of the crack, on the other hand the stress increases with the presence of the singular points of the crack. Finally, this residual decrease in natural frequencies can be used as an indicator of the state of failure, as well as a parameter used for the diagnosis and screening, and to highlight the fatigue life of the bearing.

In the paper the influence of bearing surfaces roughness on the pressure distribution and load-carrying capacity of a thrust bearing is discussed. The equations of motion of an Ellis pseudo-plastic fluid are used to derive the Reynolds equation. After general considerations on the flow in a bearing clearance and using the Christensen theory of hydrodynamic rough lubrication the modified Reynolds equation is obtained. The analytical solutions of this equation for the cases of a squeeze film bearing and an externally pressurized bearing are presented. As a result one obtains the formulae expressing pressure distribution and load-carrying capacity. A thrust radial bearing is considered as a numerical example.

In the paper, the model of a DeHaven fluid and some other models of non-Newtonian fluids, in which the shear strain rates are known functions of the powers of shear stresses, are considered. It was demonstrated that these models for small values of material constants can be presented in a form similar to the form of a DeHaven fluid. This common form, called a unified model of the DeHaven fluid, was used to consider a curvilinear squeeze film bearing. The equations of motion of the unified model, given in a specific coordinate system are used to derive the Reynolds equation. The solution to the Reynolds equation is obtained by a method of successive approximations. As a result one obtains formulae expressing the pressure distribution and load-carrying capacity. The numerical examples of flows of the unified DeHaven fluid in gaps of two simple squeeze film bearings are presented.

Input-output linearization by state feedback is applied to a flux-controlled active magnetic bearing (AMB) system, operated in the zero-bias mode. Two models of the AMB system are employed. The first one is described by the third-order dynamics with a flux-dependent voltage switching scheme, whereas the second one is the fourth-order system, called self-sensing AMB, since it does not require the measurement of the rotor position. In the case of that system we had to find the flat outputs to guarantee its stability. The proposed control schemes are verified by means of numerical simulations performed within the Matlab environment.

The contactless nature of active magnetic bearings brings about many advantages over the conventional bearing while industrial real-time applications are often limited by the significant complexity of control algorithms. This paper presents the application of an LQ controller to an active magnetic bearing system (AMB). Two control strategies are presented and compared: local and global. In the first case the rotor is modelled as two separated masses located at the bearing. In the second case rotor stabilization is considered globally as a problem of the rotating rigid body suspended in a magnetic field. The second approach is especially important for high-speed rotating machines. The control performance of both algorithms was analysed using an experimental AMB laboratory system.
