Opis:
The diversity of solute flow was determined according to 1981-2000 data, taking into account environmental factors. The water assessment was based on analysis results from 19 rivers in the area between the Wisła and Bug rivers (Fig. 1). Based on average annual values of six parameters (general mineralisation in the form of dry residue, concentrations of dissolved oxygen and of chloride, phosphate and ammonia nitrogen ions as well as the amount of organie compounds - BOD₅), pollution indices were determined, enabling the classification of the river basins analysed according to a five-degree pollution scale (the first degree being "clean" rivers and the fifth degree denoting "critically polluted" rivers). A comparison of study results from the 1991-2000 period to the corresponding data from the 1981-1990 period indicates a trend towards the improvement of water purity in rivers. The results achieved show that in most areas of the Lublin Region rivers drain basins that exhibit high environmental values ("clean" and "slightly polluted" basins) and low levels of the environmental burden caused by economic activity. Solute flow from those basins depends on geological and hydrological conditions (Fig, 2, Fig. 3). Approximately 80-85% of the solute flow from those basins account for the chemical denudation of the lithosphere.

Opis:
The study aimed at evaluating the changes occurred in loess soils of Opatówka river catchment (Sandomierska Upland) due to surface water erosion and long-term agricultural performance. The survey was conducted in two micro-catchments on three cross-section transcets. Soil pits and bores were made, and soil samples to laboratory examinations were collected to determine the soil type, soil texture, and general soil features. The survey confirmed occurring erosion processes. It was found that lessive soils eroded in part were present in majority of top sections and over 15% inclined slopes. They were characterized by a shortened soil profile of Ap - Bt - CCa confirmation. Slopes cultivated along the hillsides of over 15% inclination (S, W, and SW exposure) and domed tops are strongly threatened by erosion, which results in para-rendzinas of ApCa – Cca conformation. These soils contained elevated quantities of dust fraction in relation to loam. Also greater thickness of plough-humus level of soils from the slope bottoms (including valley bottoms) as compared to those from higher levels, was recorded. They were deluvial soils characterized in general by very poor permeability. The survey revealed differences in organic matter contents at various land sculpture elements. The largest amounts of humus were found in tops and at the slope bottoms. The study also indicated that lessive soils dominating in the soils of examined area, were very vulnerable to water erosion at lack of protective means (mainly an appropriate anti-erosion agrotechnics).
