    Opis:
    Universities operate in a legal environment constituted by the external legal regulations, which – due to their universality – are not sufficient as they do not take into account the specific nature of schools. In order to make their activity coherent and well organised, universities create their own rules. The material used by the author to analyze the language of the university internal law acts are the statutes and regulations posted on the websites of the universities supervised by the minister responsible for higher education in Poland. Due to special nature of the analyzed material, its vocabulary is not very varied. A lot of space is occupied by elements typical for legal texts, such as function names or abbreviations used in the description of a legal act. The study included phenomena related to both word-formation and inflection, as well as orthography, i.e. the grammatical type and number of nouns, the tense of verbs, and the notation of certain forms characteristic of the university texts.

    The paper proposes to consider the hieroglyphic writing of the aleph-sign (Gardiner G1) in royal monumental architecture as a dating criterion. A certain epigraphic feature of the sign appears to be particularly characteristic of the second half of the Eighteenth Dynasty and the beginning of the Nineteenth Dynasty. The characteristics of the sign are discussed mainly in reference to the renewal texts, concluding with some remarks on the chronology of the restorations of reliefs in the Hatshepsut temple at Deir el-Bahari.

    This paper presents the data obtained as a result of socio-linguistic studies which were directed to the determination of the advertisement infl uence peculiarities on the verbal tastes of the modern Ukrainian society communicants . The trends that have been formed in the senses of the Ukrainian speech modern carriers under the infl uence of the advertisement are revealed. The conclusions are as follows: since the beginning of the XXI century advertisement has become a loaded indicator of not only social processes, but also of a national communicative culture component, by creating a great number of colloquial stamps.

    The aim of this study is to analyse a non-uniform process of palatalization in the Mid- dle English Northern dialect, with the main focus on the range of operation of the pro- cess, its conditioning environment and the direction of the change in the four lemmas: EACH, MUCH, SUCH, and WHICH. The fact that palatalization was an active process in the North has been proved by 47% of the Northern texts from the Innsbruck Cor- pus of Middle English Prose, which have demonstrated cases of palatalization in the forms of the lemmas. Referring to the studies of a perceptually motivated sound change and observing certain correlations between the palatalization processes occurring now and in the past, one may infer that the scope of palatalization in the North might have been even wider.

    The article Keywords in Historical Material – Challenges and Constraints is an attempt to present the use of currently developed, multimillion lexical databases. The author reviews currently created corpora of Polish historical language and evaluates possibilities of extracting keywords in the old language material similar to undertakings relating to the contemporary language. Based on usage frequency, she selects 240 top ranking words in the material Electronic Corpus of the 17th and 18th Century Polish Texts (up to 1772) “Korba”. It is an introduction to further analyses and comparisons.

    The article discusses the definition of chronological corpora and lexical series generated thanks to them; moreover, it describes various conceptualizations of categories of time in corpus studies. Chronological corpora are defined in opposition to general and historical corpora. Time is presented in structural perspective (continuity, circularity), anthropological perspective (astronomical, cultural, political, civilizational time) and methodological perspective (models of time series analysis). Taking into account specificity of lexical and statistical data, a model of anomaly (catastrophe) expressed in sudden increase or decrease of lexeme frequency has been added to used models of sequential phenomena (linear trend, periodic oscillations and random variations). Basing on the analysis of lexical series, the method of automatic identification of potential keywords (they follow a model of anomaly) and neosemantisms (they follow a seriously disturbed model of a steady trend).

    The Franks Casket (ca. 700 AD) preserves both continuous and single word inscriptions, mainly in Old English and carved in runes. The present paper discusses the editorial issue of where each text begins, which is far from obvious because the main inscriptions entirely surround three panels in an unbroken line. On the basis of the conclusions reached, new editions are provided for all inscriptions on the panels under consideration. The back panel uniquely combines runes, Roman letters, Old English and Latin – the present paper offers an explanation of the engravers’ choices basing on paleographical considerations.

    Artykuł charakteryzuje antologie nowego dramatu polskiego, które zawierają teksty dramatyczne powstałe po przełomie 1989 r. Jego celem jest analiza procesu przemiany antologii, rozumianej jako sztuka wyboru, w antologizowanie, mieszczące się na granicy praktyki teoretycznoliterackiej czy nawet pewnej strategii metodologicznej. W dalszej perspektywie badawczej mieszczą się także pytania o naturę tekstu dramatycznego ewoluującego od klasycznie rozumianego dramatu ku „tekstom dla teatru”.
    The article attempts to describe the anthologies of a new Polish drama. The selected anthologies contain dramatic texts written following the breakthrough of 1989. The aim of this article is to analyse the process of transformation of anthology (understood as the art of selection) into anthologising, which verges on theoretical and literary practice, or even a certain methodological strategy. The research perspective presented in this paper seeks further examination of the very nature of dramatic texts, which seem to evolve from the classical concept of drama into “texts for theatre”.

    The purpose of the suggested scientific research was the identification of specific transformations that are subject to advertising texts and proverbial expressions in oral colloquial speech, and the study of their communicative potential. It is stated that advertising at the beginning of the 21st century became a crucial factor of many social processes and the part of the national culture, changing social norms, cultural traditions, people’s mentality and their verbal behavior. Case advertising texts became a part of society cognitive basis, and they may change when cited. In particular, the number of conclusions were made: advertising texts in oral colloquial discourse may be subject to semantic transformations (the update of semantically coherent advertising content words), structural and semantic transformations that involve lexical substitution, semantic extension and speech compression. In particular, lexical substitution occurs as a result of the replacement of one or more text components, resulting in the expression gets a new connotative shade, additional expression. Semantic extension is due to the expansion of the expression semantics as a result of involving additional language units. Speech compression is a reduction of the proverbial advertising expression, namely some case text speech components are omitted. The changed as a result of speech compression expressions enhance the expressiveness of the intertext and often add a humorous shade of meaning.

    The paper offers some preliminary considerations concerning the distribution, composition, and orientation of the elements comprising the decoration of the burial chamber of Meru, TT 240. The tomb, situated within the North Asasif slope, dates to the last phase of the reign of Mentuhotep II Nebhepetra. The repertoire of the decorative elements found in Meru’s burial chamber may be traced back to the Old Kingdom, while some peculiarities in their distribution and orientation seem to be a consequence of introduction of the Pyramid Texts, a post-Old Kingdom novelty in the decoration of a non-royal burial space.

    The article is devoted to issues related to the use of statistical properties of legal texts for searching legal information. Methods are presented that allow to enlarge the set of found documents by including those semantically close to the initially found ones. Providing the ability to search for such collections of documents allows to better satisfy the needs of the system users. The article presents the theoretical foundations of enlargement operations based on performing specific treatments in the so-called semantic space of terms and semantic space of documents. The article deals particularly with the methods which allow to determine the set of similar documents by using statistical properties of documents. The research carried out under the ERASMUS program conducted by K. van Noortwijk and R. V. de Mulder is presented in detail. A critical analysis of the measures used in this research was carried out, as well as an analysis of the reasons why the proposed methods didn’t lead to fully satisfactory results.

    In the first part of the article the author refers to opinions on the reasons for the decrease in readership among young people, including academic students. The development of new technologies, the Internet, and life focused mainly on the present moment do not encourage a reflection necessary to deal with a literary masterpiece. It is impossible to stop those changes in students’ attitude, which does not mean that we should give up proposing them texts to read, during classes of French history and culture. In the second part, the author shares her experience and thoughts conceived as a result of the analysis of source texts and song lyrics, foremost poetic ones.
