Opis:
The article poses an attempt to provide an answer to the question whether in case of a literary title, treated as a microtext, it is possible to talk about its specific microsyntax. The subject of analysis encompasses titles of contemporary German fables which are classified due to their syntax construction. The aim of the article is to show what kinds of syntax constructions can be regarded as dominant among fable titles for children as well as to explain what that dominance results from and in what way/s it can influence perception in case of such a text recipient that a child is.

Opis:
The main purpose of this study was to research the extent to which viewers could recognize epidemic-themed movies based on the semantic and affective signals contained in the translated movie titles. The analysis revealed that viewers would find information about the epidemic in each of the examined language versions (i.e. German, Polish, and Russian) to at least the same extent as they did in the original version(usually English). The task of German-speaking viewers is the easiest one as the majority of translated titles contain clear semantic signals. Polish and Russian viewers receive slightly fewer such signals. All three language versions contain a similar number of affective signals adequate to the film genres: disaster film, science fiction, and thriller.

Opis:
In the present article, entitled Between Wor(l)ds... OR completely lost in translation? On contemporary “translations” of the titles of film blockbusters. From “Wirujący seks” (1987) and “Minionki” (2010-2017) to “Przełęcz ocalonych” (2016), its author – being a philologist, a linguist, a translation-studies researcher, and a regular picturegoer, takes into practical consideration selected translations (mainly from English into Polish) of several dozen film blockbusters having been produced in the last 20 years. On the basis of available resources, which are relatively few regarding the matter in question, the author makes an attempt at identifying and defining a range of formal and informal criteria in accordance with which English-language film titles are typically translated (“translated”?) into Polish, and then he tries to evaluate the adequacy of such film title translations against the original ones. The considerations are primarily made from a philological perspective (mainly lexical), including the corresponding cultural issues that might have affected the translation process. The analysis also embraces the increasingly significant commercial aspect present in the contemporary cinematography, in view of which a film these days is first of all a product that needs to be sold at a huge profit to the international clientele.

Opis:
Mikhail Shishkin wrote St Mark’s Campanile (2011) as a documentary short novel, based on letters of the socialist couple Franz and Lidia. Director Nikita Kobelev presented an audio version and a theatrical interpretation of the novel in 2012. In three variants of the same text the authorial intent can be expressed through the direct speech of the author, title, irony and composition. In the present article St Mark’s Campanile is considered as a metatext in which the character is a writer and, thus, the authorial intent is hidden behind the character’s thoughts and ideas. Kobelev, on the contrary, emphasizes his point of view on the characters’ actions and ideals. In the radio drama he analyses achievements and losses of a woman involved in revolutionary activities, and in the stage performance the director focuses on Franz’s dream of family happiness.
