    Opis:
    The pharmaceutical industry remains today a prominent high-technology sector of the economy,and consistently maintains its competitiveness on the world market at a very high level. Similarly to aircraft and spacecraft manufacturing and the electro-energy industry, pharmaceutical industry belongs to a group of innovative high-technology industries, which are based on scientific research results processed for industrial activities. The purpose of this study is to present and analyse global trends currently observed in the pharmaceutical industry in the world. In an era of increasing globalization, new prime movers of the development of the pharmaceutical industry are the countries from peripheralregions, mainly members of the BRICS group. For this reason, this article focuses on the emerging Asian and Latin American markets, next to the United States and countries of Western Europe. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, Brazil and China deemed the stimulation of the pharmaceutical industry one of the prime determinants of their future economic development. The following paper at first presents characteristics of the pharmaceutical industry products: innovative and generic medicines, medications available without prescription, biological agents, biosimilars and pharmaceutical substrates. Furthermore, the author specifies the properties and rates the dynamics of changes that are taking place in the global pharmaceutical market, while explaining the specifics of the relocation of the pharmaceutical industry. By comparing the number of publications in the field of pharmacy in selected countries of the world, the author confirmed the increasing importance of this industry on the global economy. In the last part of the article, the author presents the structure, number and distribution of clinical trials on a global scale. To illustrate the trends currently taking place in the development of the pharmaceutical industry, the author used raw statistical data in the field of pharmacology and literature on the subject.

    Artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie wpływu procesów relokacji podmiotów przemysłowych na dynamikę zmian rozmieszczenia działalności produkcyjnej we Wrocławiu i w strefie podmiejskiej, w latach 2008–2016. Opracowanie bazuje na analizie danych z bazy REGON dla lat 2008 i 2016. W wyniku przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono, że relokacja działalności przemysłowej ma niewielki wpływ na rozmieszczenie działalności produkcyjnej Wrocławia (do 10%), a trochę większy dla działalności przemysłowej w strefie podmiejskiej (do 25%). Decydujące znaczenie mają natomiast występujące w danym momencie uwarunkowania funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstwa, które mogą prowadzić do zaniku lub powstania nowych podmiotów gospodarczych. W znacznym stopniu relokacja działalności przemysłowej powiązana jest z procesem suburbanizacji (blisko 80% podmiotów, które zmieniły swoją siedzibę, to osoby fizyczne prowadzące działalność gospodarczą), kapitałem krajowym (ponad 90%) oraz wielkością podmiotów (90% podmiotów to mikro- i małe przedsiębiorstwa zatrudniające do 9 osób).
    The article aims to present the impact of the relocation processes of industrial entities on the dynamics of changes in the distribution of production activities in Wrocław (Poland) and the suburban area in the years 2008–2016. The study is based on the analysis of data from the REGON database for 2008 and 2016. As a result of the study, it was found that the relocation of industrial activities has little impact on the distribution of production activities in Wrocław (up to 10%), and a little more for industrial activities in the suburban area (up to 25%). The decisive factors are the current operating conditions of the enterprise, which may lead to the disappearance or creation of new business entities. To a large extent, relocation of industrial activities is related to the process of suburbanisation (nearly 80% of entities that changed their seat are natural persons running a business), domestic capital (over 90%) and the size of entities (90% of entities are micro and small enterprises employing up to 9 people).

    Celem pracy jest określenie kierunków i intensywności przemian przestrzennych obszarów przemysłowych na terenie miasta Szczecina zachodzących w okresie dynamicznego rozwoju przestrzennego miasta w ostatnich 150 latach. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań przestrzennych struktury rozmieszczenia zakładów przemysłowych na terenie Szczecina w latach 1888–2018. Na podstawie analizy koncentracji a następnie postępującego rozpraszania terenów przemysłowych opisano zjawisko relokalizacji obszarów przemysłowych w tym mieście, uwarunkowane odchodzeniem od związków z gospodarką morską oraz innymi przemianami społeczno-gospodarczymi. Stwierdzono, że tereny nadodrzańskie nadal stanowią zasadniczą lokalizację kompleksów przemysłowych miasta, jednak zmianom ulega struktura działów przemysłu wykorzystującej te obszary. Jednocześnie znaczną ekspansję dużych powierzchni przemysłowych obserwowano w zachodniej części miasta (pas przygraniczny) oraz w dobrze skomunikowanych obszarach w pobliżu głównych arterii wylotowych miasta. Powojenne tereny przemysłowe przybrały formę licznych drobnych, rozproszonych obiektów oraz jedynie kilku rozległych inwestycji. Zjawisku dekoncentracji terenów przemysłowych poza pas nadrzeczny sprzyjała dywersyfikacja działów przemysłu lokowanych w mieście.
    The purpose of the work is to determine the directions and intensity of spatial changes of industrial areas in the city of Szczecin occurring during the period of dynamic spatial development of the city in the last 150 years. The article presents the results of spatial research on the structure of industrial plants distribution in Szczecin in the years 1888–2018. Based on the analysis of the concentration and then the progressive dispersion of industrial areas, the phenomenon of relocation of industrial areas in this city was described, conditioned by departing from maritime relations and other socio-economic changes. It was found that the Odra River areas are still the main location of the city’s industrial complexes, however, the structure of the industry branches using these areas is changing. At the same time, a significant expansion of large industrial areas was observed in the western part of the city (border strip) and in well-connected areas near the city’s main thoroughfares. Post-war industrial areas took the form of numerous small, dispersed facilities and only a few large investments. The diversification of industrial branches located in the city was conducive to the phenomenon of deconcentration of industrial areas outside the riverside belt.

    The subject of this paper is the issue of urban sprawling in the Kraków Metropolitan Area (Poland). Particular attention is paid on the changing role of industry as one of the key elements of development and metropolization of cities in post-socialist, emerging economies. The role of the industry in terms of activation of labor resources has been diminishing, which is connected to the automation of manufacturing processes and relocations of labor-intensive activities to regions with lower production costs. However, the industry, particularly hightech manufacturing, plays a significant role in stimulating research and development sector and generate innovations as a key component of the knowledge-based economy. The innovative industrial companies are one of the most important elements of the structure of metropolitan cities. The analysis of this process is based on data on employment and the operation of selected industrial companies, with particular emphasis on their shift from the city to the suburbs. The process of decentralization of high-order producer services, cultural services as well as advanced informational services is one of the most important features of modern urban areas and has been identified by many researchers.
