    Opis:
    A special economic zone (SEZ) is an area of the Republic of Poland separated pursuant to the Law where business activity may be run with more advantageous conditions than the rules of economic activity in the State. Main reasons of establishing of the SEZ are: business activation of regions; restoration of old industrial areas; use of the existing industrial assets and economic infrastructure; establishment of new workplaces, especially in territories with high unemployment; development of new technical and technological solutions and their application in the national economy; increase of competitiveness of the products and services offered. Now in Poland there are 14 special economic zones. This paper focuses on the influence of the SEZ on region economy, with the Dolnośląskie Voivodship as an example. Three special economic zones in the region stimulate its economic development and bring about an increase of its investment attractiveness among other regions in Poland. The Wałbrzyska SEZ and the Legnicka SEZ belong to the best special economic zones in the country in relation to achieved investment value and effectiveness of the development area. The investment in a zone the is important for the local economy. The paper describes this question with the Legnicka SEZ as an example.

    The purpose of this study was to examine the shaping of spatial diversity of economic entities in the industry sector, measured by technology levels, and the service sector, assessed by the intensity of research and development at the local level. The analysis also concerned factors determining the emergence of these diversities, as well as relations between the occurrence of economic entities in the production activity and the service sector. The survey was conducted in the Lower Silesia Voivodeship in 1998 and 2004.The analysis revealed an increase in the participation of entities belonging to the high-tech service sector and high-tech industry sector. This participation was accompanied by a tendency of their spatial structures to become alike. It indicates that general conditions of emergence of companies characterized by the highest level of research and development intensity within the II and III sector of the economy are becoming alike. The development of high-tech industry companies is connected with the general development of services. This interrelation increases together with the intensity of research and development within sector III (high-tech services and knowledge-based services). It also increases with time. There exists a high, positive correlation between the value of the entrepreneurship index in the II and III sector and the general level of entrepreneurship. The crucial factor determining the formation of new economic entities in the group of high-tech industry companies and high-tech services is the overall rise of the entrepreneurship index.

    The article focuses on processes of the regional labor market during the economic slowdown that resulted from the global financial crisis in years 2007–2009, which is also called the Great Recession. The labor market’s situation is the result of the interaction of many complex processes. On the one hand, it is a derivative of the level of development and structure of the economy; on the other hand, the shape of the labor market is influenced by the changes associated with an ever-increasing integration of Poland with the European Union. In recent years, global economic processes, especially connected with the Great Recession, also play a significant role in shaping the situation of regional labor markets. The article presents the trends of development of the labor market in the region in years 2000–2009 in the field of economic activity and employment rates taking into consideration the selected demographic and economic categories of the population. The particular attention is devoted to the issues of development of unemployment and its typology. These elements of the labor market were presented in the local systems of the region with an indication of their spatial variation and intensity. On the basis of identified regularity of development of the studied phenomenon, the authors made an attempt to identify and evaluate the impact of the economic slowdown on the regional labor market at the local and regional level.

    The paper presents the spatial diversity of economic effectiveness of corporate firms in the Dolnośląskie Voivodship (region). Research was conducted for local units of the region; it was based on Coface Intercredit data. The volume of total turnover, the profit, employment, and trade relations were analysed.Authors try to indicate conditioning of activity of the corporate firms in the region in the spatial perspective. They present the position of the Voivodship in Poland in terms of the studied parameters.Research of economic effectiveness of the specific kind of enterprises is now carried out with difficulty. It is because of the lack of available and reliable data. Ambiguity of accepted criteria of identification is the next problem of indicating the corporate firms. In the paper the criterion of client segmentation by financial institutions is used. And that is why in the paper economic effectiveness is presented only for units, whose total profits are more than 5 million zlotys.The corporate firms are of great importance in the local as well as state economy. They contribute to the economic increase of areas of their activity. They might contribute to the investment attractiveness of these areas too.

    The article is devoted to the problem of spatial diversity of the concentration of industry process and accompanying specialisation in Dolnośląskie Voivodeship in the years 2005–2016.The aim of the study is to assess the level of development of the aforementioned processes. The scope of the research was limited by the availability of data. The paper presents analysis regarding the value of sold production of industry, working in industrial activity or spatial structure of the entities of industrial processing according to the intensity of research and development works. The study also presents the dynamics of the variables involved in the analysis. The results of the conducted research indicate significant changes that took place in 2005–2016 in the region in terms of concentration and industry specialisation. At the same time, the changes were accompanied by a decrease in the level of concentration of industrial production. Dolnośląskie Voivodeship is characterised by considerable spatial differentiation of concentration processes and industry specialisation. The largest increase in industrial production was characteristic for poviats located directly in the vicinity of the main urban centres of the region. The identified regularities indicate the growing role of the whole area of the suburban area, especially of Wrocław, as an area of intensive diffusion of industrial activity from the central area. This diffusion is, however, selective.
    Artykuł poświęcony jest problematyce przestrzennego wymiaru i zróżnicowania procesu koncentracji przemysłu oraz towarzyszącej mu specjalizacji w województwie dolnośląskim w latach 2005–2016.Celem opracowania jest dokonanie oceny stopnia rozwoju wspominanych procesów. Zakres przyjętych do analiz zagadnień uzależniony był od dostępności danych, szczególnie na poziome lokalnym. W artykule zaprezentowano analizy dotyczące m.in. wartości produkcji sprzedanej przemysłu, pracujących w działalności przemysłowej czy struktury przestrzennej podmiotów przetwórstwa przemysłowego według intensywnościprac badawczo-rozwojowych. W opracowaniu zaprezentowano także dynamikę przyjętych do analizy zmiennych. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań wskazują na istotne zmiany, jakie nastąpiły w latach 2005–2016 w strukturze przestrzennej regionu w zakresie koncentracji i specjalizacji przemysłu. Towarzyszyło im jednocześnie obniżenie poziomu koncentracji produkcji przemysłowej. Województwo dolnośląskie cechuje się znacznym zróżnicowaniem przestrzennym procesów koncentracji i specjalizacji działalności przemysłowej. Największy przyrost produkcji przemysłowej był charakterystyczny dla powiatów bezpośrednio zlokalizowanych w sąsiedztwie głównych ośrodków miejskich regionu. Zidentyfikowane prawidłowości wskazują na rosnącą rolę całego obszaru strefy podmiejskiej, szczególnie Wrocławia, jako terenu intensywnego przenikania działalności przemysłowej z ośrodka centralnego. Przenikanie to ma jednak charakter selektywny.

    One of the significant problems related to business entities is the implementation of a number of different types of activity by individual companies. This issue, despite being relatively well researched among individual or groups of businesses has yet to be studied comprehensively. This is due to the fact that the vast majority of studies focus only on the predominant type of activity declared at the time of company registration. The objective of this research was to identify regularities in the number and structure of activity types within individual business entities in Dolnośląskie Voivodeship. The survey covered all entities actively operating in the region - almost 176 000 in total. The study examined all types of activity carried out (according to PKD 2007 including the subclass level) as well as their location (by gmina). The research was based on data from the Central Register and Information on Economic Activity. The study showed that the population is dominated by those conducting many different activities - about 8.2 per company on average. The inclusion of all (and not just dominant) activities affects the observed economic structures, including the spatial dimension.

    Współczesny rozwój gospodarki opartej na wiedzy jest uzależniony od poziomu innowacyjności przedsiębiorstw wprowadzających nowe lub istotnie ulepszone produkty, zaawansowane technologie oraz doskonalsze systemy organizacji pracy. Wysoki poziom innowacyjności ma istotny wpływ na wzrost przewagi konkurencyjnej regionalnych gospodarek, umożliwiając im przede wszystkim efektywniejsze wykorzystanie posiadanych zasobów. W artykule zaprezentowano problematykę działalności badawczo-rozwojowej w Polsce, którą scharakteryzowano na podstawie nakładów na badania i rozwój oraz udziału zatrudnionych w B+R wśród pracujących ogółem. Analiza działań innowacyjnych w województwach i powiatach województwa dolnośląskiego została przeprowadzona na podstawie czterech wskaźników. Charakteryzują one aktywność innowacyjną, nakłady na nią, jej efektywność w postaci przychodów z produkcji wyrobów nowych lub istotnie ulepszonych oraz stopień wyposażenia w środki automatyzacji produkcji. Wymienione parametry były podstawą do skonstruowania syntetycznego wskaźnika innowacyjności, który ilustruje konkurencyjność intraregionalną powiatów województwa. Analizy dotyczące innowacyjności gospodarki Dolnego Śląska zaprezentowano w odniesieniu do sytuacji ogólnokrajowej, umożliwiającej określenie pozycji regionu na tle kraju.

    Business environment institutions (BEIs) play an important role in the development of entrepreneurshipin their area of influence. Actual development strategies of administrative -territorial units and regional operational programmes support the creation of these institutions. In practice, however, with the emergence of subsequent BEIs, increase spatial disparities in their location. The aim of the study was to assess the spatial accessibility of existing business environment institutions in the Dolnośląske Voivodeship.On the basis of collected data on existing BEIs, distribution of population and enterprises, GIS multi -layeranalysis was performed, including transport network, nature restrictions. The conducted research showssignificant spatial disparities in the location of BEIs. On the territory of the voivodeship there are severalspatial concentrations of BEIs, as well as numerous areas with low and very low accessibility in relation tothe existing settlement network. In case of further lack of BEIs location plan on a regional scale, the existingdisparities in their location will increase, and thus the chances of entrepreneurship development in numerous areas with low accessibility to business support services will decrease. Due to the complexity of the issues undertaken, the findings in the article are of a directional nature and constitute a starting point for further in-depth research, inter alia designation of areas predisposed for the location of new BEIs.
    Instytucje otoczenia biznesu (IOB) odgrywają istotną rolę w rozwoju przedsiębiorczości na obszarze ich oddziaływania. Obowiązujące strategie rozwoju jednostek administracyjno -terytorialnych i regionalne programy operacyjne wspierają tworzenie tych instytucji. W praktyce jednak, wraz z powstawaniem kolejnych IOB, narastają dysproporcje przestrzenne w ich rozmieszczeniu. Celem badania była ocena dostępności przestrzennej istniejących instytucji otoczenia biznesu na obszarze województwa dolnośląskiego. Na podstawie zgromadzonych danych o istniejących IOB, rozmieszczeniu ludności i przedsiębiorstw wykonanowielowarstwowe analizy przestrzenne. Badania wykazały istotne dysproporcje przestrzenne w rozmieszczeniu IOB. Na obszarze województwa występuje kilka koncentracji przestrzennych IOB, jak i liczne obszary o niskiej i bardzo niskiej ich dostępności w stosunku do sieci osadniczej. W przypadku dalszego braku planu rozmieszczenia IOB w skali regionu istniejące dysproporcje w ich rozmieszczeniu będą się nasilać, a tym samym szanse rozwoju przedsiębiorczości na licznych obszarach o niskiej dostępności usług wspierających biznes będą coraz mniejsze. Ze względu na złożoność podjętych zagadnień ustalenia w artykule mają charakter kierunkowy i stanowią punkt wyjścia do dalszych pogłębionych badań, m.in. do wyznaczenia obszarów wskazanych do rozmieszczenia na nich nowych IOB.

    This article aims to identify changes in the industry’s patterns in innovativeness and show its spatial diversity based on the example of the largest urban centres in Dolnośląskie Voivodeship. An assessment of the level of concentration of industrial activity was used as the basis for identifying these processes. The range of issues used for analysis depended on data availability, especially at the local level. The analysis of industrial activities’ location was carried out based on entities registered in Section C (Manufacturing) of the Polish Classification of Economic Activities. The spatial patterns of industrial innovativeness were presented using the classification of manufacturing according to R&D levels. The research results indicate significant changes between 2009 and 2019 in the spatial patterns for both the voivodeship and its urban areas regarding the industry’s concentration and specialisation. At the same time, this was accompanied by a decrease in industrial production. Dolnośląskie Voivodeship shows a significant spatial diversification in such concentration and specialisation. The patterns identified indicate the growing role of the area surrounding Wrocław as one of intensive infiltration of industrial activities from the main centre. These processes are also found in smaller urban centres of the voivodeship; however, this infiltration is selective.

    Rosnąca złożoność procesów społeczno-gospodarczych sprawia, iż cechą charakterystyczną współczesnych przedsiębiorstw jest pogłębiający się proces ich internacjonalizacji, co oznacza wzrost ich powiązań ekonomicznych i finansowych z zagranicą. W artykule zaprezentowano analizy struktury podmiotów z udziałem kapitału zagranicznego wg udziału pracujących, wielkości kapitału zagranicznego na mieszkańca, nakładów inwestycyjnych na mieszkańca, wartości eksportu i importu per capita. Powyższe parametry zaprezentowano w układach lokalnych województwa dolnośląskiego, z określeniem ich przestrzennego zróżnicowania i natężenia. Stały się one następnie podstawą do ujęcia poziomu intraregionalnego zróżnicowania całego obszaru (wg powiatów) pod względem syntetycznego wskaźnika wpływu kapitału zagranicznego na gospodarkę województwa. Omawiane procesy i zagadnienia dotyczące kapitału zagranicznego na obszarze Dolnego Śląska zaprezentowano również w odniesieniu do sytuacji ogólnokrajowej.
    The increasing complexity of socio-economic processes makes it a hallmark of modern enterprises is deepening the process of internationalization, which means an increase in their economic and financial relations with foreign countries.The aim of the study is to present selected issues concerning the economic activity of entities with foreign capital in Lower Silesian voivodeship and of the influence of foreign capital on the Lower Silesia economy in the years 2008-2012. The range adopted for the analysis of issues depended on the availability of data, particularly on the local level. The article presents the analysis of the structure of entities with foreign capital according to the share of the employed, the size of foreign capital per capita, capital investment per capita, the value of exports and imports per capita. These parameters are presented in local systems of Lower Silesia specifying their spatial differentiation and intensity. They then became the basis for recognition of the level of intraregional differentiation of the whole area (by poviats) in terms of the synthetic indicator of foreign capital impact on the economy of the region. These processes and issues of foreign capital in Lower Silesia, was also presented with regard to the situation nationwide.

    Opis:
    W artykule przedstawiono potencjał i kierunki funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstw uzdrowiskowych. Przeprowadzono przegląd dotychczasowej literatury dotyczącej innowacji, a także innowacji w przedsiębiorstwie uzdrowiskowym. Zwrócono uwagę na sposób zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem uzdrowiskowym i funkcjonowanie tego typu przedsiębiorstw w ramach lecznictwa uzdrowiskowego i turystyki uzdrowiskowej. Opisano czynniki, które determinują model biznesu w przedsiębiorstwie uzdrowiskowym. Wykazano, że dla dużej części uzdrowisk klientem jest instytucja finansująca, a nie kuracjusz. Zauważono, że w tych uzdrowiskach, gdzie klientem jest kuracjusz, w dużo większym stopniu zaobserwować można innowacje. Cel artykułu to wskazanie specyfiki innowacji w przedsiębiorstwie uzdrowiskowym. W artykule przedstawiono źródła, bariery i przykłady innowacji w przedsiębiorstwach uzdrowiskowych, a także obszary, które będą eksploatowane w następnych latach. Wskazano strukturę innowacji w przedsiębiorstwie uzdrowiskowym. Omówiono również najbardziej charakterystyczne innowacje, które wprowadzono w przedsiębiorstwach uzdrowiskowych na Dolnym Śląsku, podnosząc przy tym zaangażowanie samorządu województwa dolnośląskiego w rozwój dolnośląskiego zagłębia uzdrowiskowego.
    The article presents the potential and directions of functioning of spa enterprises. A review of the existing literature in relation to innovation, as well as innovation in the spa business was carried out. Attention is paid to the management of the spa enterprise and its functioning as part of spa treatment and spa tourism. Factors and their interdependencies are described, which determine the business model in a spa enterprise. It has been shown that for a large part of spas, the client is a financing institution, not a guest. It was noticed that in these spas, where the client is a bather, innovations can be observed to a much greater extent. The purpose of the article is to indicate the specificity of innovation in a spa enterprise. The article presents sources, barriers and examples of innovations in spa enterprises, as well as areas that will be exploited in the following years. The structure of innovation in a spa enterprise was indicated. The most characteristic innovations introduced in spa enterprises in Lower Silesia were also discussed, raising the involvement of the Śląskie voivodeship regional self-government in the development of the Lower Silesian spa basin.
