    Opis:
    This article takes the question of the relationship between science and theology, according to the thought of Fr. M. Heller, and it approaches to such a captivation of both disciplines, in which science becomes the subject of interest for theology. The point of outlet is the reflection on the phenomenon of the rationality of the world. The rationality which presents condition for the natural sciences demands for justification. The theological truth, which can be helpful is the faith in the existence of the Logos; the Divine Wisdom penetrating everything is not only the foundation of the structures of the physical world, but it defines also the existence of the world of the values and the sense. Since God presents the philosophical a priori for each science, the natural sciences can lead a dialogue with theology, or even – what Fr. M. Heller suggests – it is possible to create a program of the theology of science. The aim of this approach is the enrichment of the regard on science by taking into consideration these aspects, which are visible only at use of the theological method.
    Artykuł podejmuje zagadnienie relacji nauki do teologii, w oparciu o myśl ks. prof. Michała Hellera, i zmierza ku takiemu ujęciu obydwu dyscyplin, w którym nauka staje się przedmiotem zainteresowania teologii. Punktem wyjścia jest refleksja nad fenomenem racjonalności świata. Racjonalność stanowiąca warunek uprawiania nauk przyrodniczych domaga się usprawiedliwienia. Teologiczną prawdą, która może przyjść z pomocą, jest wiara w istnienie Logosu; Boska Mądrość, przenikając wszystko, nie tylko stanowi fundament struktury świata fizycznego, ale określa również istnienie świata wartości i sensu. Skoro Bóg stanowi filozoficzne a priori każdej z nauk, nauki przyrodnicze mogą prowadzić dialog z teologią, a nawet – co postuluje ks. Michał Heller – możliwe jest stworzenie programu teologii nauki. Celem takiego przedsięwzięcia jest wzbogacenie spojrzenia na naukę przez uwzględnienie tych aspektów, które są widoczne jedynie przy użyciu metody teologicznej.

    Opis:
    The transposition of  the theological expression into the framework of  epistemology suggested by the contemporary philosophy of science is a long-desired project. The presented article offers an overview of the different epistemological and methodological issues that arise when this expression is carried out in the common sense paradigm. It turns that once the necessary change into the mode of knowledge acquisition of contemporary science is made, one can significantly improve theology’s both methodological and conceptual foundations. In particular, this concerns the use of abstract concepts to better penetrate the intricacies of the Divine nature as well as the non-classical logics to improve theology’s inferential basis. The resulting question of the contextuality of theology, namely, its dependence on the conceptual framework and the picture of the world, is also surveyed. Consequently, theology can be perceived as a lexically open project. In conclusion it is argued that while the contemporary theology should retain its common sense exposition for the pastoral and catechetical purposes that allows for the efficient transmission of faith through intuitive knowledge, the state-of-the-art theological research must reach out to to abstract conceptual frameworks to assure the depth of its penetrative insight.

    Opis:
    The article tries to answer the question of the status of theology by collating Thomas Aquinas’ with John Duns Scotus’ views. Whereas Thomas Aquinas’ answer to the question: Utrum sacra doctrina sit scientia is unambiguously positive and recognizes “the holy knowledge” as the more honourable than other sciences, Scotus’ answer is negative, at best giving it the status of science sui generis. In the light of Aristotle’s definition, it becomes clear that the two medieval philosophers differed on the question of obviousness and necessity of the subject of theology. An analysis of the first Questio of Summa Theologiae and of the relevant excerpts of Scotus’ writings show that Duns emphasized the “earthly theology”, whereas Thomas by “our theology” understood a mere introduction to the theology of the saved people. Consequently, the differences between Thomas’ and Scotus’ views on theology, thus often accented, appearto be illusory.
