Interpersonal relationships between family members. The contribution points to the importance of interpersonal relationships between family members that affect not only pupil access to learning, his personality, but also responsibility, organization of the day, and so on. It matters what the family thinks is most important and how it mediates to other family members. Relationships between parents, parents and children affect not only the child’s psyche, but also the attitudes and values that it displays through behavior and action. The contribution also includes research results in which we measured the social atmosphere of family. We have focused on measuring and describing the interpersonal relationships between family members, the personal growth directions that are highlighted in the family and the basic organizational structure of the family.

Opis:
The family is supposed to give the child a sense of security, belonging, acceptance and love.1 If, however, instead of these pleasant experiences, the most prevalent atmosphere is that of, abuse, trauma, violence, horror and fear, the child will not feel safe, accepted and loved. Even worse, later in life, he will unconsciously search for situations that will awaken in him, and re-create that primary atmosphere and underlying affects, because in his intrapsychic world, they equal belonging and familiarity. Clinical experience and research show that incest is one of the severest traumas caused to the human psyche and body. In the paper, we will first present the definition, prevalence and discuss factors such as the duration of the incest and the age of victims and perpetrators. Then, we will describe the relations, roles and dynamics within incestuous families, where the child finds himself with his own pain among people who should be trustworthy, who should give safety and a sense of being loved, but instead they abuse the child, violating all the boundaries, taking away one’s dignity and killing the soul.

Opis:
The West is changing profoundly and so is its cultural and community-building potential. When we observe the transformations of this civilization in such aspects as fertility rates, marriage and divorce statistics, single-parenthood and out-of-wedlock births, birth control and euthanasia, one may look for a common explanation of this phenomena. It seems that people care less for each-other and more about themselves, and spend less time in long-term relationships which demand engagement, devotion and readiness to serve. At the same time, they do not seem to be happier or wealthier. According to the thesis of my paper, in order to understand and explain the changes listed above it is necessary to analyze them in a wider framework of socio-cultural shifts that took place in recent centuries in the West. This paper concentrates on such phenomena as secularization, rise of individualism and transformations of family life. These elements are going to be tested as key processes which triggered and facilitated profound transformations of culture and social structure which manifest themselves today in such alarming trends as, for example, demographic imbalance due to declining fertility and population ageing, decreasing human capital due to low-quality socialization, population control as well as eugenic practices or feminization of poverty. It seems that the current socio-economic condition of the West calls for critical and thorough analysis of dominating norms, values and beliefs which influence everyday decisions and the actions of millions of people who, in general, do not want to see the decline of their welfare and well-being. The aim of this paper is to engage and combine different findings from such disciplines as economics, psychology, history, sociology and cultural studies in order to present the will to serve which can be described as a foundational dimension and condition of life.

Opis:
The family is seen as a place where each member feels safe. This family harmony of peace and stronghold of security is demolished by a disturbing phenomenon of domestic violence. Violence has become an indispensable part of life in the functioning of many families. Until recently it was believed that violence relates mainly to dysfunctional families or to ones at risk of social exclusion. Recent years verified the existing stereotype. The author of the article, referring to the research in this field, shows that domestic violence is becoming an important and necessary challenge to face in today’s social work.

The article is especially concentrated on threats to the family which are results from a bad communication. It could be very dangerous for the contemporary family. In the interest of proper development of the family, the most important demands for a family policy should be: increasing the authority of the family, fulfillment of the educational process, the obligation to care for the health of children and young people and showing positive examples of moral conduct.
