Opis:
Catechesis is a dynamic process. The Church is constantly looking for new solutions to make it more effective. Catechesis is so closely connected to its surrounding milieu that it is not usually possible to use ready-made solutions from abroad. However, one must not exclude the possibility of drawing inspiration from the experience of other countries. Holding to this conviction, the author attempts to re-read Polish catechesis in the light of an official catechetical document by the French bishops: “Texte national pour l’orientation de la catéchèse en France et principes d’organisation” (2006). The reading of the French document permits the author to formulate some propositions for catechesis in Poland: to develop parish catechesis for children, youth and adults; to accentuate the relationship between catechesis and liturgy; to verify the place and role of the Word of God in catechesis.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to try and highlight the fecund relationship between the first proclamation and a kerygmatic type of catechesis as this is found in the Directory for Catechesis promulgated by the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New  Evangelization. In Evangelii Gaudium, the first proclamation has been given a renewed meaning in that it is not only considered as the first proclamation in time, but it is extended as a primary proclamation throughout the life of the person. The kerygmatic type of catechesis posited in the Directory seeks to present Jesus Christ in a way in which is the Good News becomes an accompanying factor throughout the entire life of the person. It is this person-centredness which is at the basis of the relationship between the first proclamation and a kerygmatic type of catechesis.

W niniejszym artykule w oparciu o dokumenty kościelne i opracowania katechetyczne przedstawiono zagadnienie duszpasterstwa katechetycznego w parafii, etapy katechezy parafialnej, grupy osób dorosłych objętych katechezą oraz treści katechezy biblijnej w parafii.
The present paper describes the problem of parish catechetical ministry, as well as the levels of parish catechesis, groups of adults for which catecheses are intended, and the subject matter of parish biblical catechesis, taking into account the Church documents and catechetical guidelines. Most of the attention was paid to the catechetical groups. There were distinguished groups of adults classified according to their degree of adherence to the faith, or according to their specific life situations, as well as other catechetical groups i.e. parents, lay liturgical ministers, and catechists. A proper catechesis should be directed towards each of these groups of adults. This concerns also the biblical catechesis which prepares to meet Christ present in the Word of God.

The article endeavours to give a bird’s eye view of catechesis in Italy as from 1870 to the threshold of Vatican Council II – 1962. The point of departure is a study of the use of the Catechism as the handbook for catechesis. The study will then move on study the efforts of individuals – from priests to Pope Pius X – who sought to positively influence catechesis through their ministry and how different Congresses and Conventions helped in trying to formulate a more coherent catechesis throughout Italy. Finally, the paper will end by a study of the Active Method which was to be the unifying factor for catechesis in Italy prior to Vatican Council II.

Opis:
The Author of article provides an important information about parent catechesis from Catholic perspective. He reminds the basis of parent catechesis, beginning with the historical importance and explanations contained in the Church Documents: “Parents are the primary educators in the faith. Together with them, especially in certain cultures, all members of the family play an active part in the education of the younger members’ (General Directory for Catechesis255). If parents are the most important persons of the education of children in the faith, they need to be well prepared for fulfilling their mission that includes especially treating catechesis as lifelong process, the learning of Christian doctrine andmethods of family catechesis, permanent formation of mothers and fathers into the fullness of Christian life. The conclusion presents main challenges and advocates an intensification of catechetical activity in our times.

Upbringing is a task of both school education and catechesis. The purpose of this article is to answer the following questions: do the general aims of school education in Poland go hand in hand with the tasks of catechesis? To what extent it is possible to educate for community life (cf. GDC 86) at school religion classes in Poland? In order to find answers to these questions it is necessary to present the aims of general education in Poland according to the new core curriculum (based on the Regulation by the Minister of National Education of 23 December 2008 on Core Curricula for Pre-school and General Education in particular types of schools) along with methods for entering its records into school curricula. The general aims of upbringing, that the documents of the Church put before religious instruction at school are shown against this background, in order to find points of contact with the school curricula. The possible implementation of education for community life in the school environment is discussed on the base of the Core Curriculum for the Catechesis of the Catholic Church in Poland (approved by the Polish Bishops’ Conference in 2010).In conclusion it can be stated that the aims of both religion education at school and general education in Poland, in relation to education for community life, are similar: creation and strengthening of local communities, rooting students in natural communities, such as the family and the nation, creating a climate for dialogue between representatives of different cultures and beliefs. All these aims are focused on development of attitudes necessary for the sustainability of the community of the state. Furthermore, education for community life as the task of catechesis goes beyond the scope of school education. It calls for completion in extracurricular activities, to bring pupils to the Eucharistic community and active participation in the life and activities of the Church.

Opis:
Parochial catechesis in Belgium, especially in Flanders as the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium, is confronted with a lot of challenges. This text deals with three main thematic clusters. The fi rst cluster centres on the relation between ‘Christianity’ and ‘culture’ and its consequences for the content and the method of the catechesis. In a context where Christianity and culture are no longer intrinsically linked to each other, new models of catechesis have to be found. The authors propose a ‘hermeneutical model of catechesis’, whereby many elements of the surrounding culture and of the faith tradition(s) are confronted with each other in a multidimensional way, challenging each other. In this vision, religious truth is not a set of dogmas that should be transmitted, but an open and ‘utopian’ search process that asks for new questions time and again. From a didactical as well as from a theological perspective this hermeneutical model offers new opportunities for catechesis. The second cluster can be summarized as ‘life-long’ and ‘life-wide’ learning. The authors argue that is it necessary to create vertical (intergenerational) and horizontal (among a generation or a speci fi c group) networks dealing with religious communication. Thereby they propose a speci fi c church organisation with lots of possibilities for cooperation between different parochial groups. The title of the article, catechesis inside out, refers to the vision that religious communication is not only a task inside church communities. The authors argue for open church communities daring to speak with people that hold to different world views. The second thematic cluster also deals with the organisation of the catechesis and more speci fi cally with the question of the target group or the age of those who are catechised. In a third movement the article deals with questions about finding ‘good’ catechists. At the end of the text the authors offer a summarizing re fl ection on the art work ‘Daughters of Eve’, which contains the main arguments they have dealt with.

Special education options are diverse and prepared to meet the needs of children with varying degrees of intellectual disabilities. However, many parents of children with an intellectual disability have a difficult time in organizing the religious educational alternatives for their children. A disabled child needs to be surrounded by catechetical specialist care. In this article, the author points out the pedagogical and catechetical challenges of special education and catechesis. At the beginning, three basic educational environments are presented followed by the major aspects of the Catholic religious education: knowledge of God, prayer, and preparation for the sacrament of Penance and the Eucharist.

This article seeks to give a Christian understanding to the reality of COVID-19 which the world has gone through in the past months. This is done in a catechetical way by elaborating upon what truly transforms a lived event into an experience and into a Christian religious experience through a catechetical process. This implies seeking to understand any lived event by reflecting upon it and then applying the results of one’s reflection to one’s life. This theoretical framework is then applied to the reality of COVID-19 with the aim of rendering the lived event of the pandemic into a Christian religious experience which leaves a positive effect on the lives of believers through a catechetical process of understanding it in the light of the Word of God, and then applying the outcomes to one’s life afterwards.

This article discusses the document Meeting Jesus, presented by the Italian Episcopal Commission. In seeking to give guide-lines for the proclamation and catechesis of the faith in Italy it becomes one of the most important documents in recent years that deal with the new evangelization that assists the whole Church in the announcing of the Gospel and the journey of faith. The document highlights certain homogeneity in reading the cultural, social, ecclesial and pastoral situation in which the pro-cesses of formation and education are realized. This helps the development of the “catechetical needs” and the specific paths of di-ocesan and national guidelines. It also reveals the possibility of a comparison at the inter-diocesan level between formators and a mutual support in the evaluation of projects and activity. To realize the training of formators and of members of the diocesan teams “in the wise work of coordinating and leading” it is important to work on the same lines proposed by the Guidelines.

The problem of discipline, and motivation in the learning process, is ever more glaring in catechesis. The assertive approach attempts to, at least partially, solve this problem in modern education. This discussion will show that it is possible to use this approach if assertiveness is enriched by the fundamental anthropological discovery as developed by P. Ricoeur in his hermeneutics of selfhood. He does not see human personality as static, but as dynamic, which gives key roles to three forms of passivity: towards one’s own body, towards others, and towards one’s conscience. The concept of passivity will be woven into catechesis, which aligns better to the spirit of Christian theology. The example of Jesus’ catechesis on the road to Emmaus will be used to show the practical usefulness of assertiveness, and the triple passivity in Christian evangelization.

Religious education should provide pupils with examples of the life of faith. Such examples can be found, first of all, in the Bible. Both in the Old and in the New Testament, we can read about people who met God and this fact influenced all their life. The biblical canon provide us with distinct catalogues of people to whom the God’s Wisdom revealed itself and who are the examples of the life of faith. Two lists can be found in the Old Testament: one in the Book of Wisdom, verses 10, 11 – 11, 3, second in the Wisdom of Sirach, in the so-called “Praise of the Ancestors”, verses 44, 1 – 50, 21. The third series occurs in the New Testament, written by the author of the Letter to the Hebrews in Chapter 11. The present paper begins with the introduction of the catalogues of persons given by biblical authors as the examples of faith and prayer. Then follows the analysis of both the Core Curriculum of Catechesis of the Catholic Church in Poland and the Program of Roman Catholic religious education for kindergartens and schools with respect to this matter. The paper is concluded with suggestions for both the religious classes in public schools and the parish catechesis.
