Opis:
Tolerance is closely connected with upbringing. Forming one’s personality within the family environment influences the quality of attitudes in the society. The educational process aimed at developing tolerance emphasizes that the value of a person should always be most important. Partnership in the family which forms the basis for democratic upbringing is a crucial element helping to develop tolerance. The upbringing based on relationships which are not distorted may be very effective. To enable the family to base their life on genuine partnership it is necessary to refer to universal values during the educational process. Selfless love which should be the foundation of life and upbringing is the best guarantee of social tolerance.

Opis:
The discussion on the functioning of the modern family hasn’t become weaker for the last years – although its meaning has been emphasized, a threat to realization of its upbringing‑care function has been simultaneously pointed out. Young people decide to start a family but very often they aren’t prepared for the challenges which are put by a society. It concerns particularly the parental function – more and more children need a foster family which will surround them most of all with love and provide a feeling of security. Does the functioning in a foster family differ from the life in a family of origin? If positive, what should be done to minimize these differences? Is it possible at all? Finally – is there a difference in realization of the education‑care function between “yesterday” and “today”? The article will try to give an answer for the outlined questions.

Opis:
In a society shaken by tensions and conflicts caused by the clash of various kinds of individualism and selfishness, children need to be enriched with a sense of the personal dignity of each individual, true love and sincere service to the others, especially the poorest and those in most need. The family is the first and fundamental school of upbringing: as a community of life and love. Every Christian family finds its mission received from God in self-giving that inspires the love of husband and wife for each other and the self-giving that is practiced in the relationships between brothers and sisters and the different generations living together in the family. The author of this article shows the actual threats to religious upbringing and education in the family with special attention given to the postmodern socio-cultural context. He also highlights financial, social, moral and religious crisis influencing the family life and education. Then asks for the roots of these negative phenomena and searches for the pedagogical solution.

Not only are marriage and the family, natural and religious institutions but, above all, they are communities of persons fulfilling their personal calling. However, communio personarum does not only result from the natural relations, but is a consequence of faith, which unites family with Jesus Christ. This article will present the pedagogical consequences of acknowledging the family as communio personarum, including the fact that every family is a privileged place of upbringing and parents, who bestowed the gift of life upon their child, have been gifted with a wealth of upbringing skills. The marital relation, as a “me” and “you” relation, constitutes the foundation for other family relations, as well as the everyday educational support for the child. Parents, however, accompany their children in forming their mature personality and religiousness.

Opis:
Caring for the person and the human family is one of the most important tasks for the State and the Church. In contrast to the activities of the civil society, the work of the Church in this area is called a specific work, because it requires the use of so-called poor means, i.e. peaceful means. From the very beginning, the teaching of the Church has stood and stands on the ground of Christian personalism. The Church looks at marriage and family in the same spirit. It views the family as the basic and irreplaceable community. It is the family that offers the most effective tools for the humanization and personalization of society. Any social and family policy should serve this end. The Church should follow a similar policy. However, the pastoral concern of the Church is not limited only to Christian families. It should manifest itself in relation to all families and especially those who face difficult or abnormal situations.

Parents as parents-in-law in the light of Erik Erikson’s theory

Opis:
The role of parents-in-law according to Erik Erikson’s theory, has been analyzed in this paper.Erikson claims that a man develops throughout his whole life, solving subsequently appearing crises. The proper solution of these crises enables the achievement of integration. The results of research, carried out by Menelaos Apostolou, regarding the influence of parents on the choice of a son or daughter-in-law have been presented in this paper. These results show that the marital choices of offspring most often lack their parents’ approval, and they often also lead parents to use manipulation techniques. Such regularity is often the basis of difficult spouse-parent-in-law relationships. The role of parents-in-law takes place in the period of middle adulthood in which an individual faces the productivity-stagnation process. It has been assumed that the role of parents-in-law is embedded in this crisis. According to Erikson, the crisis in the period of middle adulthood, as well as in any other period, is the friction of two opposing pursuits: progression and regression, where in case of middle adulthood, the progression stage is called productivity and regression – stagnation. Moreover, social and individual factors (including biological and psychological levels) activating regressive and progressive states in parents-in-law have been submitted for analysis. It is stressed, in this paper, that the parents’ virtue, which is care, is not limited only and exclusively to their own biological offspring – the process of upbringing should also include a broad understanding of the notion of providing welfare to future generations.

Opis:
John Paul II devoted a lot of attention to Man as a person in his teaching. He indicated that it is the false anthropology which is a problem of the contemporary civilization. John Paul II reminded us that Man needs to prepare for life in the family, nation and Church, which places high requirements for families, teachers, educators and priests. At the same time, Man remains a social being, does not exist only for him/herself but rather establishes groups, communities, societies. From this perspective, the proper development of Man demands cooperation of different entities and educational environments.
Jan Paweł II w swoim nauczaniu poświęcił wiele miejsca człowiekowi jako osobie. Wskazywał, iż właśnie błędna antropologia jest jednym z problemów współczesnej cywilizacji. Jan Paweł II przypominał, iż człowiek potrzebuje przygotowania do życia w rodzinie, narodzie i Kościele, co stawia wysokie wymagania rodzicom, nauczycielom, wychowawcom, duszpasterzom.
