    The main idea of the considerance is to pay one’s attention at the ideal of a Christian, on the basis of St Paul’s Great Letters (1 Cor, Gal, 2 Cor, Rom). People are really eager to face sanctity: with God, with a holy man. The sanctity constitutes a kind of a pattern, an exempler to follow for an ordinary person – an exempler of its magnanimousness. The very basic human values can be definitely called as the Christian ones, as God dedicated his life in the name of the values defendence. The Christian sanctity is absolutely not about any sort of suerhumanity. It is about unusual skills, talents which not everyone is gifted with. The Christian sanctity is an obedience based not on its own greatness, but on the one that lets God to be gifted by his greatness. People have extremely serious expectations from different religions. One of them are ready answers on tough questions, concerning human existence, which deeply move human hearts: what the final and the wordless mystery is that overwhelms our existence, which we take our beginning from, towards which we constantly head for. One of the answers can be found in the New Testament, which the Great Letters of St Paul’s constitute a truly important part of.

    Artykuł prezentuje analizę określenia τὸ εὐαγγέλιον w Corpus Paulinum na tle jego użycia w świecie grecko-rzymskim i Nowym Testamencie. Na podstawie przeanalizowanych tekstów apostoła należy stwierdzić, że nie głosi on „własnej” Ewangelii. Paweł podkreśla, że „jego” Ewangelia jest zarówno Boga (τοῦ θεοῦ), jak i Chrystusa (τοῦ Χριστοῦ). Tak jak Chrystus nie jest podzielny, tak i Ewangelia, którą on zwiastuje, jest jedna (zob. 1 Kor 1,13). To Zmartwychwstały Pan Wszechświata jest centrum Pawłowego kerygmatu. On sam stanowi podmiot i przedmiot Ewangelii. To On jest Tym, który głosi, ale i Tym, który jest głoszony. Żadne inne słowo tak dobrze nie określa działalności i teologii Pawła jako apostoła jak rzeczownik τὸ εὐαγγέλιον.
    The article presents the analysis of the term τὸ εὐαγγέλιον in Corpus Paulinum against the background of its use in the Greco-Roman world and the New Testament.  Having examined the apostle’s texts it must be stated that he does not preach „his own” gospel. Paul highlights that „his” gospel belongs to both God (τοῦ θεοῦ) and Christ (τοῦ Χριστοῦ). Just as Christ is indivisible, so the gospel He preaches is one (see 1 Cor 1:13). It is the Resurrected Lord of the Universe who is in the centre of the Paul’s kerygma. He Himself is the subject and the object of the Gospel: the One who preaches but also the One who is preached.  No other word defines the works and theology of Paul as an apostle so accurately as the noun τὸ εὐαγγέλιον.

    Opis:
    After being arrested by the Romans St. Paul was brought from Jerusalem to Caesarea. As a result of his trial that was conducted by the procurator Antonius Felix, the verdict was postponed. Awaiting the conclusion of the trial Paul was imprisoned for two years. During the second trial he appealed unto Caesar. In order to be judged by the Emperor he was brought to Rome in a boat, dispatched from the harbour of Caesarea. The recent archaeological excavations carried out in this ancient city revealed the sites of St. Paul’s confinement in Herod’s praetorium, of his trail conducted in the procurator’s palace, and of his departure to Rome. This paper attempts to compare the newest archaeological evidences with the biblical texts regarding the years of Paul’s detention in Caesarea and thus to throw more light on this important period in Apostle’s life. Having at our disposal accurate scheme of ancient Caesarea, its extraordinary harbour and the splendid promontory palace of Herod the Great, it was possible to depict in a more detailed way the scene of the events reported in Acts 23:31–26:32.
