Opis:
The current systems supporting navigation on board of ships are built on the classic concept for equipment: The system is developed, tested, type approved, installed and from that time on used with no or little modifications. Looking at other industries a regime of software and system maintenance has been established which allows more rapid updates. The development in the IT arena moves more towards modular approached, encapsulating individual components for easier implementation and delivery with limited system wide impact. This key concept is lately often referred to as the “app concept”. The e-Navigation development asks for exactly that: a way to improve innovation while ensuring system stability for the navigational components used by the navigator on the bridge. A key aspect of the success of new systems will be the ability to convert data into as information as needed in any given situation, creating knowledge for intelligent decisions increasing the competence of a navigator. The paper will focus on the following topics: – The classic “monolithic” Equipment paradigm – Modern System Architecture using components and “apps”-concept – Advantages of an approach using situational driven tool enhancements – The “app”-concept supporting the situational centric information presentation.

Opis:
Fugro is operating a global GNSS infrastructure for the delivery of high-accuracy multi-constellation Precise Point Positioning (PPP) service, named G4. Precise orbit and clock for all global satellite navigation systems are estimated in real-time and broadcast to the users using geostationary satellites. End-users with a G4-enabled receiver are able to obtain sub-decimeter positioning accuracy in real-time. The system has been tailored for offshore applications where a nearby GNSS station is not always readily available. G4 offers seamless integration of GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou in the navigation solution, therefore allowing the user to obtain a reliable and accurate position even in challenging environments, especially in presence of interference, scintillation or partial sky visibility. In addition, carrier-phase integer-ambiguity resolution (IAR) is supported, for those users requiring the highest possible navigation accuracy. This paper presents the G4 system architecture and current performance. The benefits of multi-constellation Precise Point Positioning (PPP) are shown in terms of increased availability, robustness and accuracy.

Opis:
Expert Systems can be defined as computer programs, whose main task is to simulate a human expert, usually in a narrow field of expertise. Expert Systems have experienced tremendous growth and popularity since their commercial introduction in the early 1970’s. Today, Expert Systems are used in business, science, engineering, manufacturing and other engineering applications such as planning, scheduling, diagnosing equipment failures and are used in almost every stage of the manufacturing process and also in medicine and many other fields. Expert Systems belong to the field of artificial intelligence. An intelligent computer program that uses knowledge and inference procedures to solve problems that are difficult enough to require significant human expertise for the solution. The purpose of this paper is to present an Expert System which assists with the design of yachts and supports the selection of mechanical equipment for yachts and includes knowledge in the field of yachting engineering. Using the presented Expert System reduces the time during the design and production preparation process.

Safety level analysis is included in the paper in context of SWIM system in air traffic management. The example is given. It examines the limitations and drawbacks of current ICT systems used for air traffic management. Analyzing the development of communication systems for the management of general air traffic, it can be concluded that the development of the terrestrial segment of the exchange of information between the parties relating to the air traffic will fluctuate towards a solution based on a service-oriented architecture SOA. This architecture will be the basis for the implementation of the concept of an information exchange system SWIM.

Opis:
Providing a robotic-assisted service in scenarios involving multiple Unmanned Vehicles (UVs) in possible beyond-visual-Line-Of-Sight (LoS) operations, safety and security are critical concerns. We develop a web-oriented, human-in-the-loop infrastructure to explore how the service provider can secure their system, enforce instant access control over dynamic operator-robot connections, and ensure the integrity, availability, and traceability of communicated data. Our proposed minimal viable solution requires an authentication server to verify user identity, a back server with a database to handle user requests and state-transition events, and a RabbitMQ (RMQ) server to trace the origin of data.
