Opis:: This paper analyzes the behaviour of a fuzzy expert system for evaluating the dependence among successive operator actions, through a sensitivity analysis on the fuzzy input partitioning and assessment. Preliminary results are presented with respect to a case study concerning two successive tasks of an emergency procedure in a nuclear reactor. Work is in progress to perform a thorough sensitivity analysis to generalize the results obtained.

Opis:: Water supply system is complicated technical system which belongs to underground urban infrastructure. Its accurate functioning determines everyday live stability of citizens. Risk analysis is a key phase of the process of water supply safety management. The aim of this paper is to present new propose of methods for risk of the first type (associated with quantity of supplied water) and the risk of the second type (associated with quality of supplied water) analyses in water supply system. The paper contains the description of matrix methods for risk analyses and methods describing cause-and-effect relationship of failure events (fault tree analysis).

Opis:: A water distribution system (WDS) ought to be high reliable continuous operating system. Failure factors in WDS should be identified and prioritised, for example, the causing factors in the most frequent failures in water-pipe network. In this paper, the failure risk analysis of the WDS is presented, and accordingly, a New method consisting the failures index (FI) and the evaluation of risk of failure within the relevant area, based on the assumed categories (tolerable, controlled and unacceptable risk). It is expecting that the methodology for the WDS performance risk analysis would provide the city leadership for decision making support.

Opis:: The paper presents an approach to critical situations analysis related to discrete transportation systems (DTS). The critical situation is understood as sudden shortage of some system recourses resulting in the transportation system performance degradation. The analysis is realized based on availability calculation of DTS. The system is described by the formal model, which includes reliability and functional parameters of DTS as well as human resources – drivers and management system. The availability and average availability of the system, defined in a functional way, is discussed as a function of different essential parameters of DTS. The proposed analysis is based on the modelling and simulating of the system behaviour using Monte-Carlo approach. The paper presents some exemplar systems – based on real Polish Post DTS – modelling and results.

Opis:: The paper presents the analysis and discussion of gender recognition based on human face picture. The research combines different features selection techniques with the set of softcomputing classifiers. We are looking for not very complicated, fast and sensitive approach to create the theoretical basis for real safety systems where the correct “on-line” gender recognition is necessary. We start from the already known differences between the female and male face. This is the key point to tune the preprocessing mechanisms. We propose the quite classic classifiers, but we focus on sensible correlation between the feature extraction and the actual classification. The significant set of the results are discussed and the best solutions are pointed. All tests were realised based on the well known base of face pictures with added set of our own collection. The proposed solution can be an essential tool for the monitoring systems, safety guards and systems to point the dangerous situations based on video data.

Opis:: The paper is concerned with the model of critical infrastructure safety prediction without considering outside impacts. The general approach to the prediction of critical infrastructure safety is proposed and the safety indicators are defined for a critical infrastructure free of any outside impacts. Moreover, there is presented the model application for port oil piping transportation system safety prediction. Further, the cost analysis of critical infrastructure operation process is proposed and applied to the considered piping system.

Opis:: In the paper there is presented the computer program for reliability analysis of complex technical systems with reserved and improved components along with computer program description and application. The computer program allows for automatic reliability characteristics prediction of the improved complex technical systems with hot and cold single reservation of their components and of the improved complex technical systems with reduced intensities of departure from the reliability state subsets of their components. Under the assumption that system components have exponential reliability functions, the unconditional reliability function, the mean values and standard deviations of the unconditional lifetimes in the reliability state subsets and in particular reliability states, the system risk function and the moment when the system risk exceeds a permitted level of the complex technical systems before and after their improvement are determined.
