    The article presents the image of a reader in fantasy (Bookweird of Paul Glennon), romance novel (La grand-mère de Jade of Frederique Deghelt), dystopian novel (Fahrenheit 451 of Ray Bradbury) and crime fiction (The Library of Shadows of Mikkel Birkegaard). There are a lot of similarities and differences between the readers’ portrayals. The literary genre has an impact on creating reader’s image. The protagonists read either since their childhood or since landmark event in their lives. They encounter some obstacles and threats during reading, which make the story more attractive. Books have the power to change fictional characters’ lives.
    Artykuł prezentuje obraz czytelnika na postawie wybranych utworów w literaturze fantasy (Księgowir Paula Glennona), romansowej (Babunia Frederique Deghelt), antyutopijnej (451° Fahrenheita Raya Bradbury’ego) i kryminalnej (Biblioteka cieni Mikkela Birkegaarda). Można zauważyć wiele podobieństw i różnic między sposobami przedstawienia motywu czytelnika. Gatunek literacki ma wpływ na kreowanie wizerunku czytającego bohatera. Protagoniści czytają od dzieciństwa lub od przełomowego wydarzenia w ich życiu. Podczas lektury napotykają na pewne przeszkody, co sprawia, że historia staje się bardziej interesująca. Książki mają moc zmieniania życia fikcyjnych bohaterów.

    Opis:
    Is reading facing a crisis nowadays and is the reader an endangered species? Does the development of modern information technologies cause a decline of reading? The objective of the paper is to present the relationship between the book and the reader, the issues concerning contemporary reading, and consequently, reading culture, and the place of the reader and the book in the information society. The process of becoming a reader begins already in childhood, with one’s reading interests and habits changing in the process of psychophysical and psychosocial maturing. They normalize only in adult life. The paper also utilizes the National Library’s reports on the state of readership and on the development of the e-book market in Poland. The dynamic development of digital technologies, the electronic form of publication, and the appearance of newer and newer interfaces of e-book platforms have increased the mobility of literature in the world. In the 21st century, reading is experiencing its ups and downs; nevertheless, it has not been deprived of its significance in culture. The development of new technologies cannot negatively impact reading: conversely, this development has become a carrier of reading culture and the medium that promotes this readership.
    Czy współczesne czytelnictwo przeżywa kryzys, a czytelnik jest „gatunkiem” zagrożonym? Czy rozwój nowoczesnych technologii informatycznych powoduje spadek czytelnictwa? Artykuł ma na celu przedstawienie relacji między książką a czytelnikiem, zagadnień dotyczących współczesnego czytelnictwa, a co za tym idzie kultury czytelniczej, oraz miejsca odbiorcy literatury i książki w społeczeństwie informacyjnym. Proces stawania się czytelnikiem rozpoczyna się już w dzieciństwie, a zainteresowania i nawyki czytelnicze zmieniają się wraz z dojrzewaniem psychofizycznym i psychospołecznym. Normalizują się dopiero w dorosłym życiu. W artykule wykorzystano raporty Biblioteki Narodowej dotyczące stanu czytelnictwa oraz rozwoju rynku e-booków w Polsce. Dynamiczny rozwój technologii cyfrowych, elektroniczna forma publikacji i nowe interfejsy platform do korzystania z e-booków zwiększyły mobilność w świecie literatury. W XXI wieku czytelnictwo przeżywa wzloty i upadki, jednak nie zostało pozbawione kulturowego znaczenia. Rozwój technologii nie jest w stanie zaszkodzić czytelnictwu, wręcz przeciwnie – stały się one nośnikiem kultury czytelniczej oraz medium, które je promuje.

    Im Artikel wird am Beispiel von LeserInnenkommentaren im Schweizer Online-Newsportal watson.ch der Frage nachgegangen, inwiefern sich bei Online-Communities Merkmale von traditionaler Vergemeinschaftung (sensu Max Weber) nachzeichnen lassen und ob sich das Konzept der Diskursgemeinschaft(en) damit in Verbindung bringen lässt. Dafür wird der Begriff der Diskursgemeinschaft zunächst im widersprüchlichen Spannungsfeld zwischen sprach- und sozialwissenschaftlichen Gemeinschaftsverständnissen verortet. Anschliessend wird anhand ausgewählter Kommentare untersucht, wie sich klassische Vergemeinschaftungsmerkmale in Kommentarforen auf empirischer Ebene manifestieren. Abschliessend wird ein Lösungsvorschlag skizziert, wie die Systemtheorie nach Niklas Luhmann die Aporien zwischen verschiedenen on- und offline Vergemeinschaftungsformen überbrücken und damit einen integrativen Rahmen für die konfligierenden Gemeinschaftsverständnisse der klassischen Soziologie und der Diskursanalyse anbieten kann.  
    Using examples from comment sections in the Swiss online news site watson.ch, we investigate the question whether such online reader communities show traces of communal relationships (in the sense of Max Weber) and if such an understanding is compatible with the concept of discourse communities. To this end, we first outline the conflicting theoretical assumptions that linguistic and sociological understandings of communities imply for the concept of discourse communities. Afterwards, we use selected online reader comments to show how traditional features of community formation can be detected empirically in the comment section. To conclude, we argue that Niklas Luhmann’s systems theory can serve as a framework to integrate different types of community formation processes on an empirical and a theoretical level.

    Abstract: During the interwar period, along with popularisation of mass culture, sensational press appeared in Lublin, which focused on criminal events, gossips, scandals and curiosities of sorts. Development of such press was promoted by a diversity of city’s social landscape and a new model of everyday living, customs and ways of spending free time. In general it is filled with events that are interesting for undemanding readers. There is a bit of politics, economy, social issues, art, culture, human drama, sensation, some irrelevant gossip and some simple advertisements regarding what to buy and where. Low price, variety of content, interesting news, suggestive illustration, and adapting to the mass reader demand led to a situation that these journals gathered a vast audience in a short time. The point of this paper is to show Lublin informational/sensational newspapers as an important observer of social reality of the interwar period.  
    W dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym wraz z rozpowszechnieniem kultury masowej pojawiła się w Lublinie prasa sensacyjna, w której najważniejszym tematem były zdarzenia kryminalne, sensacje polityczne i skandale obyczajowe. Rozwojowi takiej prasy sprzyjała różnobarwność pejzażu społecznego miasta oraz nowy model życia codziennego, obyczajowości i sposobów spędzania czasu wolnego. Generalnie na jej łamach można znaleźć wszystkie sprawy żywo interesujące czytelników mało wymagających. Dotykała problematyki politycznej, gospodarczej, ekonomicznej, społecznej, artystycznej, kulturalnej, opisywała ludzkie tragedie, sensację, najnowsze ploteczki, a także reklamę, czyli co warto kupić i gdzie. Niska cena, bogactwo treści, atrakcyjne wiadomości, sugestywna ilustracja i dostosowanie się do gustów masowego czytelnika spowodowały, że w krótkim czasie dzienniki te zdobyły sobie liczne grono odbiorców. Celem publikacji jest przedstawienie lubelskiej prasy informacyjno-sensacyjnej jako ważnego obserwatora rzeczywistości społecznej dwudziestolecia międzywojennego.

    The publishing market is in the world of new media space as many opportunities as the threats for the popularization of the book. Not all of them are obvious, and their consequences are simple to foresee. Like the book itself, which with the change, or rather the differentiation of its character, can be understood as: object, product, good, medium, content, text, relation, service. This article discusses the contemporary book market in Poland in the light of global changes in publishing production and distribution. The key to understanding them is to consider the role of the book and its way of life. Answer the question of what is gaining and losing the book through the new digital media, and with it the author and the reader in the changing roles of the forming and learning entities.
    Rynek wydawniczy w epoce nowych mediów to przestrzeń równie wielu szans co zagrożeń dla popularyzacji książki. Nie wszystkie są oczywiste, a ich konsekwencje proste do przewidzenia. Podobnie jak sama książka, która wraz ze zmianą, czy raczej zróżnicowaniem swojej postaci, może być rozumiana jako: przedmiot, produkt, dobro, obiekt, medium, treść, tekst, relacja, usługa. Niniejszy artykuł ukazuje współczesny rynek książki w Polsce w świetle globalnych zmian w zakresie produkcji i dystrybucji wydawniczej. Kluczowe dla ich zrozumienia jest rozważenie roli książki i sposobu jej istnienia. W tekście podjęto próbę odpowiedzi na pytania, co zyskuje, a co traci książka za sprawą nowych, cyfrowych mediów, a wraz z nią autor i czytelnik w zmiennych rolach podmiotów tworzących i poznających.

    The paper examines the concept of the speaking subject, the key term of Jerzy Bartmiński’s Linguistic Worldview Program (LWP), from the point of view of Ronald Langacker’s theory of Cognitive Grammar. We propose to characterize the dynamic, open nature of Bartmiński’s speaking subject in terms of Langacker’s notion of conceptualizer, a hybrid category consisting of the speaker and the hearer, between whom the discursive negotiation of meaning takes place. It is assumed that the model applies to all types of discursive interaction involving all kinds of spoken and written discourse, including literary works.  In order to be able to account for the meaning negotiation process in discourse, we propose to use Ronald Langacker’s theory of the Current Discourse Space (CDS) combined with the Storyworld Possible Self model (SPS) as developed by María-Ángeles Martínez in her analysis of literary texts.
    W artykule omawiamy (z punktu widzenia gramatyki kognitywnej Ronalda Langackera) kategorię podmiotu mówiącego -- kluczowego pojęcia w programie rekonstrukcji językowego obrazu świata (JOS) w wersji przedstawionej przez Jerzego Bartmińskiego. Proponujemy, by dynamiczne, otwarte ujęcie podmiotu wewnętrznie dialogującego z sobą samym (w propozycji Bartmińskiego) scharakteryzować w kategoriach langackerowskiego konceptualizatora jako hybrydową kategorię złożoną z nadawcy i odbiorcy, między którymi zachodzi negocjowanie znaczeń w dyskursie. Zakłada się, iż model ten można zastosować do wszystkich typów interakcji dyskursywnych, pisanych i mówionych, w tym dyskursu literackiego. Aby opisać proces negocjowania znaczenia w dyskursie, proponujemy połączenie langackerowskiej koncepcji bieżącej przestrzeni dyskursu (Current Discourse Space, CDS) z modelem możliwego „ja” w świecie literackim (Storyworld Possible Self, SPS) rozwijanym przez Maríę-Ángeles Martínez w jej analizie tekstów literackich.

    Children's literature reflects society and conveys new models. This field evolves depending on the representations of childhood that adults build. Recent research shows that children experience deep emotions and that reading contributes to their social and affective development. This paper examines the different issues related to writing the affects aimed at young readers through the study of Astrid Lindgren's novel Les frères Coeur-de-Lion. It focuses on ethical, aesthetic and linguistic questions involved in translating the book from Swedish to French. 
    La littérature de jeunesse est à la fois reflet de la société et vecteur de nouveaux modèles. Elle évolue en fonction des représentations que les adultes ont de l'enfance. Les recherches récentes montrent que les enfants vivent de grandes expériences émotionnelles et que la lecture contribue à leur développement social et affectif. Cet article interroge les enjeux de l'écriture des affects à destination du jeune lectorat à travers l'étude du roman Les frères Coeur-de-Lion d'Astrid Lindgren. Il s'intéresse également aux problématiques éthiques, esthétiques et linguistiques liées à la traduction de l’œuvre du suédois au français.
