the "language biography" - the method of texts investigation
the poetry of Lucjan Boruta - Opis:
- The article shows the usefulness of the method of investigation applied 50 years ago by professor Przemyslaw Zwolinski. This outstanding investigator of history of Slavonic languages used a term “language biography” when he was elaborating the language of writings of Marcin Bielski. The same term was used to describe the phenomenon of poetry written by Lucjan Boruta, folk sculptor from Drohiczyn. This author of thrilling religious poems was born in very poor, uneducated family. When he was young, World War II broke out, Lucjan graduated to primary school only. He spent a great part of his life working as sacristan in a parish of Drohiczyn. In his free time Lucjan was writing poetry and keeping a diary, he was also carving in wood. The crucial moment in his life was the accident, whisch left him disabled. The application of the “language biography” method helps to understand the very high artistic level of Lucjan Boruta’s poetry.
