The COVID-19 pandemic and the numerous restrictions implemented because of it have had a huge impact on the tourism sector around the world. The aim of this study is to identify and assess their effects on tourism in the Tatra County, the area in which there are some of the most popular tourist places in Poland – the Tatra National Park and the town of Zakopane. The study showed that the COVID-19 pandemic caused a significant decrease in the tourist traffic in this area in 2020, and as a result, a smaller number of incidents requiring the intervention of the Tatra Volunteer Search and Rescue, less demand for accommodation or fewer foreign tourists. In addition, entrepreneurs directly or indirectly involved in the tourism industry recorded lower revenues or losses. Smaller revenues were also recorded in the mentioned town of Zakopane.

This paper examines how a Polish television drama series Father Matthew is used for promoting the town of Sandomierz and its vicinity. It aims to identify the tourism values presented in the film production and to describe promotional activities related to film tourism based on the results of surveys. The empirical part presents the results of surveys conducted in 2022 investigating the respondents’ interest in film and its effect on travelling for tourism. It was established which cultural and natural values were used to promote the town by exhibiting them in the TV drama series. Reference was made to the quantity and nature of information directly regarding the plot of Father Matthew published by national and regional media in Poland. It was demonstrated that the indicated film production is the main form of the town’s promotion – used for building a complete tourism product. It enhances the town’s attractiveness and recognisability and increases the use of its tourism facilities – thus stimulating the development of film tourism.

The aim of the paper is to prove the thesis that the organization of mass events actually affect the local economic development but this effect to a large extent is not straightforward. Mass events builds the social capital, which guarantees economic development in the future. The paper includes a review of the literature concerning the organization of mega events on the world and above all, a review of the available research about the effects of mass events expected and achieved afterwards. The study primarily includes the biggest sporting events in the World and in Europe which took place after 2000. The paper includes also authors’ research based on the organizational effects of European Football Cup Euro 2012 in Poland and 2014 Football World Cup in Brazil.

The article focuses on examining the intention to recommend Gdańsk as a tourist destination to family and friends. The study was based on the results of a survey (Bęben et al., 2018) conducted among 2,508 respondents visiting Gdańsk in 2017. The method of cluster analysis was applied, thanks to which it was possible to divide the respondents into three clusters. Then, logistic regression was used to analyze the variables influencing the intention to recommend a destination. The study shows that for the entire sample the level of satisfaction from a visit to Gdańsk remains the factor supporting the decision to recommend a destination. Importantly, the total number of visits to Gdańsk is negatively correlated with the intention to recommend the destination, which proves only partial loyalty.
