    From two decades we have observed changing of demographic processes (and these processes were not similar by voivodships) which have lead to changed of structure of the population by age. Purpose of the article is a description of it, extract the similar regions and assessment of the regions structures of the population to the progressive pyramid of age. This approach will allow to assessment of the spatial dynamics of the process of ageing of the population.

    Obserwowane procesy demograficzne w krajach UE stają się wyzwaniem dla krajowych rynków pracy, gdyż powodują systematyczne zmniejszanie się zasobów siły roboczej oraz zwiększanie udziału osób starszych. Problemy, z którymi muszą zmierzyć się poszczególne gospodarki, to przede wszystkim aktywizacja zawodowa ludzi młodych, kobiet i osób powyżej 50. roku życia. Problemem na rynku pracy może być również zatrudnianie osób powyżej 60. roku życia, czyli tych, które nie osiągnęły wieku emerytalnego. Z dotychczasowych badań wynika, że zasygnalizowane problemy są wciąż aktualne i wymagają podejmowania wielu działań ze strony państwa, polegających m.in. na opracowaniu długookresowej strategii makroekonomicznej w obszarze polityki zatrudnienia i wdrażania reform często nieznajdujących akceptacji społecznej. Kolejnym problemem jest potrzeba zmian w polityce prorodzinnej nastawionej na zwiększenie dzietności rodzin oraz stymulowanie postaw prokreacyjnych. Celem niniejszego opracowania jest przedstawienie pojawiających się tendencji demograficznych w Polsce na tle pozostałych krajów UE istotnych z punktu widzenia funkcjonowania rynku pracy Badanie dotyczy dwóch wybranych lat, tj. 2004 i 2013.
    Demographic processes observed in the EU countries pose a challenge for their national labour markets, causing gradual decline in labour force and increase in elderly numbers. These economies are thus facing not only the issue of occupational development of young people, women and social group aged over 50, but also employability of seniors (over 60 years old), who have not reached the retirement age. Research confirms that these problems remain up-to-date and require addressing by the government organs. Employment policy needs to follow a long-term macroeconomic strategy, while the resulting reforms have to be implemented in spite of the initial lack of public endorsement. What is more, these changes need to be complemented by the profamily policy aiming to encourage having more kids. The following study presents demographic tendencies observed in Poland in comparison to other EU countries, focusing on the labour market specifically. Data from 2003 and 2004 are being analyzed.

    W opracowaniu przedstawiono zmiany w stanie liczebnym oraz strukturze demograficznej ludności województwa śląskiego ogółem, jak i w poszczególnych jego podregionach w latach 2013-2050. W perspektywie 2050 r. demograficzny regres w województwie śląskim będzie się pogłębiał, o czym świadczy ujemny przyrost naturalny łącznie z ubytkiem migracyjnym ludności. Zmianie ulegnie typ zaludnienia w podregionach bielskim i tyskim, w którym ujemny przyrost naturalny nie będzie rekompensowany przez dodatnie saldo migracji. Malejąca liczba ludności, malejąca liczba osób w wieku produkcyjnym oraz rosnąca liczba osób w wieku poprodukcyjnym oznacza dla całego województwa śląskiego znaczne osłabienie potencjału ludzkiego.
    The paper describes changes in the number of people and in demographic structure of the population in the entire silesian voivodeship, and also in its particular subregions in the years 2013-2050. In the perspective of 2050 demographic decline in silesian voivodeship is going to progress, which is proved by negative population growth and migration loss. The settlement type, in which negative population growth will not be compensated for by positive migration balance, will change in Bielskie and Tyskie subregions. Declining number of people, as well as decreasing working age population and growing number of post working age population indicate significant decrease in human potential in the entire silesian voivodeship.

    The aim of this paper is to provide a statistical description of the demographic structure of the members of the Open Pension Funds as well as its dynamics. The paper also describes the process of ageing of the Open Pension Funds' members taking into account the whole operating period of the funds. Selected demographic measures were used to analyze the demographic structure changes of the funds' members in total and by sex and age. To describe the process of ageing some alternative measures based on central moments of the empirical distributions were employed. The analysis reveals a significant differences of the process of ageing between the funds.

    The history of market economy clearly links its origin and dynamic development with the Western civilisation. And it is the Christianity that is one of the foundations of the Western civilisation. It can therefore be said that in this case religion helped (or at least did not hinder) the start of a new economic system. Are, however, other religions as open to inevitable changes caused by the market economy? Do they create conditions conducive to institutional and social changes indispensable for the functioning of capitalism? The answer to the above-mentioned questions is particularly interesting with respect to Islam which, in terms of number of believers is the second religion in the world. Dozens of countries in which Islam is the main religion pose undoubted political potential. Nevertheless, the economic potential of these countries (apart from their natural resources) is significantly smaller than the political/ demographic one. The economies of the majority of Muslim countries can hardly fall into the category of market economy as compared to Western standards.. The reasons for this are manifold, but one of the main is religion. Islam does not aid such transformations and processes which are necessary for the development of capitalism. Therefore, it is not a coincidence that the economies of countries where Islam is present in its more liberal version (as it is in Turkey) function better.
