    Opis:
    The paper discusses the importance of the main determinants of the internationalization of the yuan. The main stress was put on Chinese economy and its share in world trade, the development of China's financial markets as well as China's international investment position. The paper is based on the international literature and statistical data. Main sources of necessary data were taken from publications delivered by European Central Bank, Bank for International Settlements, International Monetary Fund and National Bureau of Statistic of China.

    Opis:
    The competitive position of the economy is an important aspect of her perception from the perspective of investors. At the same time an increasing importance is being paid to the implementation of sustainable development (SD) as a response to the ongoing process of imbalance observed in the modern world economy. The analysis proves the lack of contradiction between the achievement of the goals of SD, understood as the attainment of desired levels of SD indicators and the competitive position of EU economies. It can also be concluded about the positive effects of the implementation of the SD on the achievement of a high competitive position, which in the long run should help reducing the scale of threats to the SD of the world economy.

    The knowledge-based economy analysis economic organization and development when the creation, distribution and use of knowledge become decisive factors. To become a successful knowledge economies, countries must act simultaneously on their education base, their innovation systems and their information and communication technology infrastructure. This paper focuses on international scientific networks as an example of tool created in order to stimulate the use of new knowledge. The main objective of the paper is to identify the knowledge creation and transfer processes in ISC. The methodology utilized in this study is qualitative and exploratory.     Narastanie od przełomu wieków międzynarodowej nierównowagi płatniczej stanowi jedno z kluczowych wyzwań dla dalszego rozwoju handlu międzynarodowego. Jest także jedną z przyczyn światowego kryzysu finansowego 2007/2008+ oraz stanowi w konsekwencji strukturalny hamulec rozwoju gospodarki światowej. Uważa się, że istotnym źródłem tej sytuacji jest dynamiczny, ale niezrównoważony wzrost obrotów handlowych gospodarek wschodzących Azji Wschodniej, zwłaszcza Chin, w następstwie realizowanej przez nie strategii rozwoju otwartego o charakterze proeksportowym. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie elementów proeksportowej strategii rozwoju otwartego na przykładzie Chin w kontekście związków tej strategii z narastaniem międzynarodowej nierównowagi płatniczej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem handlu Chiny – USA. W artykule przedstawiono: elementy chińskiej strategii rozwoju otwartego oraz jej wpływ na budowę potencjału eksportowego; istotę międzynarodowej nierównowagi płatniczej oraz jej fazy w kontekście handlu Chiny – USA; problem gospodarek nadwyżkowych i deficytowych w kontekście narastania tendencji protekcjonistycznych; nowe tendencje w międzynarodowym wewnątrzgałęziowym podziale pracy z udziałem Chin i USA w odniesieniu do narastania międzynarodowej nierównowagi płatniczej.
    The increase in international payment disequilibrium since the turn of the century is one of the key challenges for the further development of international trade. It is also one of the causes of the global financial crisis 2007/2008+ and, as a consequence, constitutes a structural brake on the development of the world economy. We argue that the significant source of this situation is the dynamic but unbalanced growth of trade in the emerging economies of East Asia, especially China, as a result of its pro-export open development strategy. The aim of the article is to present elements of a pro-export open development strategy using China as the example in the context of the links between this strategy and the growing international payments disequilibrium, with particular emphasis on the trade between China and the USA. The paper presents: elements of China’s open development strategy and its impact on building export potential; the disequilibrium of international payments disequilibrium and its phases in the context of trade between China and the USA; the problem of surplus and deficit economies in the context of growing protectionist tendencies; new tendencies in the international intra-industry division of labour in the context of growing international payment disequilibrium.
