    Topic addressed in this study is extremely important and timely in terms of economic activity in the labor market still young and still learning. Currently, they are becoming more numerous and often sought after group of employees by employers, such as those offering internships employee. Requirements of the booming job market for graduates, motivates learners to work even during initial training, in order to make it easier to start after finishing education. It often happens that the work undertaken in college becomes a permanent job for a long time. It can be observed that over the last several years beginning activity among students moved into a learning period, young people no longer wait until the end of the period of study to take up employment.

    Demografia jest jednym z istotnych czynników wpływających na zainteresowanie usługami publicznymi z zakresu edukacji, w tym szkolnictwa wyższego. Celem artykułu jest analiza wpływu przemian demograficznych zachodzących po 1989 r. na funkcjonowanie szkolnictwa wyższego oraz wyzwań związanych z prognozami demograficznymi. W artykule zaprezentowano proces przemian w polskim szkolnictwie wyższym oraz przeanalizowano wpływ trendów demograficznych i innych czynników na wzrost liczby studentów i rozwój rynku edukacji wyższej. Przedstawiono również prognozę liczby studentów do 2050 r. i wskazano na zagrożenia, jakie niosą za sobą trendy demograficzne. Pozwoliło to na wskazanie znaczenia trendów demograficznych na aktualne i przyszłe funkcjonowanie szkolnictwa wyższego w Polsce.
    Demography is one of crucial factors influencing the degree of interest in public services related to education, including higher education. The article’s aim is to analyse the impact of the demographic changes taking place after 1989 on the workings of higher education and to examine the challenges related to demographic forecasts. Moreover, the article presents a process of changes in Polish higher education and provides a study of the influence the demographic trends and other factors have had on the increase of the number of students and the development of the higher education market. Also a forecast of the number of students until 2050 can be found in the article as well as the dangers resulting from demographic trends. As a result, the article indicates the importance of demographic trends for the workings of higher education.

    Celem artykułu jest analiza porównawcza pomostowego kapitału społecznego, oparta na wybranych wynikach badań ankietowych polskich i hiszpańskich studentów. Badania ankietowe przeprowadzono wśród studentów pierwszego roku studiów na przełomie października i listopada 2013 r., gdy zaczynali oni swoją edukację na poziomie akademickim. Dokonana w artykule kwantyfikacja pomostowego kapitału respondentów została oparta na definicyjnym ujęciu Putnama i operacjonalizacyjnym ujęciu kapitału społecznego, przedstawionym przez W. van Oorschota, W. Artsa i J. Gelissena. Wyniki badań i wnioski sformułowane na ich podstawie sugerują, że poziom pomostowego kapitału społecznego w ankietowanych grupach osób jest stosunkowo niski.
    The aim of this article is a comparative analysis of bridging social capital based on the results of surveys of selected Polish and Spanish students. A survey carried out among first-year students in late October and early November 2013, when they began their university education. Effected in the article quantification of bridging capital of respondents is based on the Putnam's definitional approach and the model approach as formulated by W. van Oorschot, W. Arts and J. Gelissen. The results and conclusions drawn on their basis suggests that the level of the bridging social capital among the surveyed group of people is relatively low.

    Podczas trwającego kryzysu migracyjnego wśród uchodźców napłynęli do Europy również młodzi ludzie pragnący podjąć studia lub kontynuować je na europejskich uczelniach wyższych. Borykają się oni z licznymi problemami, takimi jak brak znajomości języka, trudności w uznawaniu kwalifikacji zdobytych w ich rodzimych państwach i brak dokumentów potwierdzających te kwalifikacje. W badaniu autorka przygląda się próbom pomocy uchodźcom pragnącym podjąć naukę na uniwersytetach, analizując, kto podejmuje inicjatywy pomocy, jakie to są inicjatywy i czy próby te są w jakikolwiek sposób skoordynowane.
    Among the migrants, who have come to Europe during the migration crisis, there are young people, who are willing to start higher education or to resume their studies at European universities. They face a lot of problems, such as the lack of language skills, the necessity of qualifications acknowledgement and the lack of documents to prove their qualifications. Author researched and examined help offered to refugees, who wish to study and analyse, who offers help, what kind of help it is and whether the initiatives are coordinated in any way.

    The paper presented results of empirical research obtained by means of a survey questionnaire and concerning the perception of workaholism by current doctoral students of the University of Economics in Katowice, Poland. There were 87 doctoral students from all years of study participating in the survey. Opinions of the doctoral students surveyed on the perception of the phenomenon of workaholism, both in relations to themselves and to other persons in their environment, were obtained. The factors which, as reported by the respondents, influence workaholism were determined. Additionally, the impact exerted by the addiction on social relations of workaholics as well as doctoral students' perception of workaholism were analysed. Conclusions concerning the justifiability of medical treatment with regard to persons affected with workaholism and the term of Adult Children of a Workaholic were formed. The results obtained in the study clarify the standpoint of doctoral students in relation to workaholism as an addiction and may form the grounds for further scientific research concerning the issue among young persons engaged in creative activity.

    This paper takes up this issue and quantitatively measures the impact of behavioral factors and inertia on vertical logistics collaboration in possibility of score decision making between shipper, expectation of citizens and logistics service provider. A stated preference experiment for expectation of citizens in our research is used to reach out the additive utility function describing a quality of city service versus customer's preferences.

    To obtain employment university graduate is obliged to develop, aside from professional skills, a capital of social and stress-coping competencies. To achieve these, transgressive behavior is required. The objective of the study was to present levels of transgressive behavior, social competences, styles of coping with stress and their mutual relations among university students. Eighty-four students (men and women) of Opole University were surveyed. Correlations between social competencies and transgressive behavior were observed i.e. social exposition effectiveness correlated with assertiveness and task-oriented style of coping. Gender differences were also observed i.e. male students were more assertive than females students. Results suggest that there is a need for the increase of levels the individual abilities in order to increase the chance to obtain employment.

    W artykule, wykorzystując wyniki badań empirycznych, dokonano analizy porównawczej zmian, jakie dokonały się w zakresie głównych kierunków migracji wśród studentów podejmujących studia w opolskim ośrodku akademickim w latach 2007-2014. Jednocześnie w opracowaniu tym podjęto próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy proces stopniowego otwierania się zachodnioeuropejskich rynków pracy miał znaczenie w dokonujących się zmianach kierunków emigracji w tej grupie emigrantów.
    In the article, basing on the results of the empirical research there is presented the changes which have taken place on the main directions of migration among students in Opole academic city during the period of 2007-2013. At the same time the study attempts to answer the question, whether the progressive process of opening the labor markets in Western Europe could have affect the changes in directions of emigration in this group of migrants.

    The purpose of this article is to present selected results of a study, which was conducted among foreigners studying at universities in Opole Province. The research was run between 82 people, among whom 91.5% were students from countries outside the EU (most of them were Ukrainians), and 8.5% were students from countries outside the EU. During the study it was found that the vast majority of students from outside the EU pay for studies in Poland, and the persons from the EU don't. The largest part of the expenditure of foreign students absorb the fees associated with accommodation and the purchase of food. In both case - students from EU and non-EU countries the most frequently reported source of financing study and stay in Poland was money obtained from the parents. Interesting is that, in the case of people from non-EU countries were also mentioned taking work (while studying in Poland or during the holidays) and use obtained in this way money to finance their studies. By comparison, none of the people from the EU - countries taking part in the study did not mention the personal earnings to finance their studies.

    Z początkiem roku akademickiego 2006/2007 w Polsce następuje proces zmniejszającej się liczby studentów. Zmiany te mogą być nie tylko dotkliwe dla całego systemu szkolnictwa wyższego, ale mogą być również istotnie odczuwalne w poszczególnych miastach akademickich, dla których studenci stanowią znaczący potencjał rozwojowy. W tym kontekście w artykule skoncentrowano się na zaprezentowaniu działań promocyjnych władz miast wojewódzkich pełniących funkcję ośrodków akademickich mających na celu zachęcenie potencjalnych studentów do podejmowania w nich kształcenia na poziomie wyższym.
    From the beginning of October 2006 there is decreasing number of tertiary students in Poland. These changes can not only be noticeable for the entire higher education system, but can be significantly felt for academic cities, for which students can be a potential for development. In this context, the article focuses on the presentation of promotional activities used by the academic cities to encourage young people to take up higher education.

    The economic crisis of recent years has refuted the myth of homo oeconomicus - rational man working to develop his economical capital. Employment is currently understood as needless burden and return on capital is achieved by egoism, greed and immoral actions. It is necessary to restore ethos of work. The work is for man, not man for a work. Human work must have a personalistic dimension. Analysis of hierarchy of principles declared by students of University of Economics in Katowice proves that the change is possible. One can hope that students indicating moral values will realize - as employees - ethos of work.

    Coraz powszechniejszy dostęp do Internetu ma wiele pozytywnych aspektów (szybki dostęp do informacji i wiedzy oraz błyskawiczne przetwarzanie i przekazywanie danych, a także nieograniczona i ekspresowa komunikacja pomagająca podtrzymywać relacje z ludźmi i pozyskiwać nowe kontakty), ale nie należy lekceważyć istnienia zagrożenia uzależnieniem od tego medium, coraz częściej występującego szczególnie wśród osób młodych, które potrafią godzinami przebywać w sieci. Głównym celem prowadzonych badań było poznanie aktywności wykazywanej w sieci przez śląskich studentów (celów i intensywności korzystania z Internetu, stopnia wyposażenia studentów w nowoczesne środki komunikacji z dostępem do Internetu), a także zbadanie, czy częstotliwość i rodzaj przejawianej w sieci aktywności śląskich studentów uzależnionych i zagrożonych uzależnieniem od sieci jest istotnie różna od aktywności śląskich studentów niezagrożonych uzależnieniem od Internetu.
    Universal access to the Internet has many positive aspects but do not under-estimate a possible risk to of this medium addiction to among young people. The main objective of the study was to investigate the activity exhibited by the Silesian students on the Net (goals and intensity of Internet use, the degree of equipment students with modern means of communication with Internet access) and to investigate whether the frequency and type of activity the Silesian students addicts and threatened Internet addiction is significantly different since the Silesian students unthreatened Internet addiction. The study was conducted using Young’s Internet Addiction Test.
