    In this article we find lexicographical reflections on the German (and Polish) dictionaries primarily in the context of the amount and structure of the contained therein lexemes. The author weaves considerations about the type of dictionary entries and how they can be lemmatised, eg. putting in dictionaries often only parts of compound words (eg. Affen-, Hunde-, -frei, -hungrig) to productively contribute to the development of vocabulary (eg. Affenschnell, Hundehitze, sozialversicherungsfrei, sexhungrig). The article also touched upon the issue of online dictionaries (digitized) and the increasingly important issue of foreign words, particularly English. The object of the considerations are mainly the Duden dictionaries, and also Wordbooks from Adelung, Klappenbach / Steinitz, Doroszewski, Zgółkowa, Żmigrodzki et al.

    This article presents German loanwords in the Polish language. Its aim is twofold: to discuss words of German origin in Polish, as well as to stress Polish-German language contacts and their influences on vocabulary (a significant number of German loanwords refer to the building industry). The analysis will not only deal with the meaning and etymology of particular words, but will also scrutinize their description in the dictionaries of Polish edited by Doroszewski and Sobol.

    The article presents research into borrowings from German to the Polish language. That research was initiated in the 19th century. German lexical borrowings were linked to other linguistic issues, such as morphology, syntax, phonology or semantic field theory. The most important researcher of German borrowings in Polish were Aleksander Bruckner, Leszek Moszyński, Ludwik Zabrocki, Wilhelm Kästner, Alicja Karszniewicz-Mazur etc. The article is a critical analysis of the most significant publications on this subject.

    W artykule zwrócono uwagę na społecznie tworzone i zmienne znaczenia konotacyjne słowackich leksemów pani, slečna, pán (pol. pani, panna, pan). Autorka uznaje zmiany w zwyczajach nominacyjnych użytkowników języka słowackiego za przejaw socjalizacji lingwistycznej, która z kolei wiąże się z takimi pojęciami jak stereotypy oraz władza symboliczna i dyskurs.
    The paper pays attention to meaning of words, especially slečna (miss) and pani (misses), which are effected by socialisation. The author presents texts as examples of creating social part of the meaning. It is based on gender stereotypes and when a certain society wants to change usage of certain words, such as miss and misses, it can lead to a discussion in the society. The whole situation is related to a topic of control and power in the society.

    This article presents Slavic loanwords in the Austrian variant of the German language. Its aim is twofold: it discusses words of Polish, Slovakian, Czech, Serbo-Croatian, and Slovenian origin in the Austrian variant of German, as well as stressing the multicultural history of Austria and its influence on vocabulary (a significant number of Slavic loanwords refer to culinary lexis denoting the names of Slavic meals).     The article discusses the problem of dendronims in the Russian discourse. The analysis of the image of poplar in the Russian poetry of 50–70 years of 20th century is based on the lexico-semantic approach, which means the consideration of its semantics on the background of the lexical system of its embodiment in literary texts. The study has resulted in revealing basic features of the image of poplar. There have been also described and illustrated linguistic units that make it possible for the features mentioned above to function in their both literal and metaphoric use in poetic context. What is more, the paper shows the characteristics of the image of poplar in poetry. As it is proved, the dominant denotative features of the poetic poplar can be described as “height”, “silver coloring of its leaf”, “slenderness”. Metaphorical usage of the features refers mainly to such associative relations as “poplar – human attributes”, “poplar – the subject of speech activity”, “poplar – human behavior”, “poplar-citizen”, “poplar – attribute of the whole country.” The significant role in the analysed image play meanings embodied in poetic complex of “the three worlds”.
    В статье характеризуется проблема изучения дендронимов в русском дискурсе. В основе исследования образа тополя в русской лирике 50–70-х годов XX века лежит лексико-семантический подход к образу, т.е. рассмотрение его значения в аспекте системы лексических средств его воплощения в художественном тексте. В результате проведенного исследования выявлены основные признаки, характеризующие образ тополя, описаны и проиллюстрированы примерами языковые средства, актуализирующие данные признаки в их прямом и метафорическом употреблении в поэтическом контексте, охарактеризована специфика образа тополя в русской лирике указанного периода, получены выводы о том, что доминантными денотативными признаками поэтического тополя являются «высота», «серебристая окраска листа», «стройность». При метафорическом употреблении данных признаков наиболее актуальными являются ассоциативные отношения «тополь – атрибуты человека», «тополь – субъект речевой деятельности», «тополь – поведение человека», «тополь-горожанин», «тополь – атрибут всей страны». Большое значение в данном образе имеют также смыслы, воплощенные в поэтическом комплексе «троемирия».
