This text covers a wide range of problems in social relationships. In the Author's opinion, a present social reality doesn't allow deeper contacts between people. Current understanding of the concept of the dialogue, reduces it to negotiations or communication acts. But none of them isn't a suitable substitute of the dialogue with its richness of a sense. The present time is characterized by superficiality of relationships in societies. Instead of the dialogue, we deal with only quasirelationship. People haven't lost ability of reflective and critical reception of their life and they can't feel existence of others as someone important, unique and indispensable for a proper and authentic meeting. In the dialogue, everybody shapes a meeting as momentous event. Different understanding of the depth this concept, can lead up to reduction of relationships in modern society. Misinterpretation of the dialogue concept makes our life common, mediocre, trashy. The article analyzes a moral condition of modern society and points at possible and existing threats in a field range of people's relationships.

The article presents memories of the student period and scientific career of retired university teachers in 1947. The background to the narration about the way of conducting classes and relations with students are the assumptions of the philosophy of dialogue. This theory has its impact on the practical aspect, because it results from both pedagogy and didactics based on dialogue. The aim is to determine the importance of dialogue in the academic career of retiring academic teachers. Information obtained from lecturers using narrative intelligence techniques may indicate a high level of dialogue both at work and in interpersonal relations. However, the impact of the philosophy of dialogue on the conduct of lecturers during classes and after their completion in relation to students was not always fully understood by them during their lifetime.
Tekst prezentuje wspomnienia dotyczące okresu studenckiego i kariery naukowej emerytowanych nauczycieli akademickich z rocznika 1947. Tłem do narracji o sposobie prowadzenia zajęć i relacjach ze studentami są założenia filozofii dialogu. Teoria ta ma swoje przełożenie na aspekt praktyczny, gdyż wynikają z niej zarówno pedagogika, jak i dydaktyka oparta na dialogu. Celem jest określenie znaczenia dialogu w karierze naukowej nauczycieli akademickich przechodzących już na emeryturę. Do badania wykorzystano technikę wywiadu narracyjnego. Informacje uzyskane od wykładowców mogą wskazywać na dużą rangę dialogu zarówno w pracy, jak i w kontaktach międzyludzkich, choć oddziaływanie założeń filozofii dialogu na postępowanie wykładowców w stosunku do studentów podczas zajęć i po ich zakończeniu nie zawsze było całkowicie przez nich uświadamiane w czasie ich trwania.

In the contemporary literary studies, the category ‘motto’ has a well-established position, although one often meets an opinion that a uniform theory of universal motto has not been developed yet. This article is an attempt to synthesise the existing findings about the motto. It presents an overview of the most interesting research positions. This allows us to illustrate, in general terms, how the meaning of the motto changed from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century, and how it evolved from a very general blurry meaning to the one representing the main characteristics of intertextuality.

Work cannot be separated from human life. Nowadays, the concept of work has been usually perceived only from an economic perspective as a factor of production process. Does acquiring the means of livelihood is the only value of human work? No doubt, it is a very basic goal, but not the only one. Besides this dimension, there are many other important aspects of human work. In the first part of my paper, I point out two possible understanding of the phenomenon of human work – an objective and a subjective one. The objective sense has to show haw men reign over the earth (material production). The subjective one emphasizes the dignity of human person (philosophical anthropology and ethics). According to Tischner it would be a mistake to take into account only the objective meaning of work, since the moral sense would have been omitted. In the second part, I will adduce the dangers to the proper understanding of human work which arise when one chooses the wrong concept of man (philosophical anthropology). In the philosophical understanding, work is a derivative of the accepted vision of man. In order to avoid the situation of objectifying of man (problem of reification), we should conceive him as a personal being who crates himself in the process of work. In the final part of my presentation, the phenomenon of work is discussed as a mean of improvement and perfection of human being which is done in cooperation with others. By the means of work man enters into relations with God, with the material world, with others (the social world) and with himself. By the above mentioned means she discovers the purpose of her life.

The article attempts to describe the strategy of empathy applied by Teresa Torańska in the interviews she collected in the volume Są [They Are]. Through her attitude the journalist gives the reader an intimate view of the interlocutor and offers insight into his/her most personal experiences. The strategy of empathy includes Teresa Torańska’s choices concerning stylistics, pragmatic endeavours regarding request and apology, silence, and picturing the world in microscale. Thanks to such an approach, the journalistic interview appears as a genre-mission, in which we locate a model for encountering the Other.

The author takes up the question of the narrativity of the artistic radio message that is radio documentary. It looks at documenatry from the perspective of psychological research on storytelling. Hence it considers the radio documentary as a large-scale narration composed of smaller aural forms, constituting small narrations. The author examines numerous levels of the in-depth news report, lexical, prosodic and also phonic features. It also shows how the theory of radio documentary connects to narrative identity.

This paper combines quantitative and qualitative methodologies to study the persuasive strategies employed by candidates taking part in televised pre-election debates in Poland and the United States between 1995 and 2016. First, the authors identify the key strategies and calculate the frequency with which they are used by individual candidates. This allows for numerical comparisons between politicians in the two polities, as well as between winners and losers, and candidates of the right and the left politically. These statistical results led the authors to look more closely at the individual styles of two contrasting debaters. We conclude that the rhetorical landscape of political communication does not differ greatly between the two countries; although the data suggest noticeable differences in the approach of political parties and between individuals.

The Constitution of The Republic of Poland (Article 17) says that: “By means of a statute, self‑governments may be created within a profession in which the public repose confidence, and such self‑governments shall concern themselves with the proper practice of such professions in accordance with, and for the purpose of protecting, the public interest”. This regulation is based on two principles: The first is the principle of professionalism; the second embraces norms that must be observed by representatives of professions of public trust. Those groups can make the decisions of their members or profits for themselves. This puts them in a different position than other participants of social and economic life. Professional associations are not driven by market rules, nor administrative regulations (relating to the postulate of the division of labor). The problem begins when – from a social point of view – it is no longer possible to regard these organizations as trustworthy partners. The gap between legal and social perspectives raises doubts about the way in which a civil society could face professional self‑governments when they are seen as being hostile to them.

The paper has three parts. The first part concerns the solidarity principle’s genesis. Its philosophical base is the personalistic anthropology, which speaks about prosocial nature of man and its active participation in the social life. The biblical-theological base of solidarity are: personal dignity of man comme God’s image, person and learning of Christ, community of the Church. The second part of paper discusses elements ontological-anthropological and biblical-ethical which are necessary in the realisation of solidarity’s principle. They are following: pluralism of equal persons and societies, its dialogue, co-production of common good by honest work, integral development economic and intelectual-cultural, equality, social justice and love, peace and reciprocal settlement. The thirt part of paper speaks about three circles of application of solidarity’s principle; namely: solidarity professional-working – defend of rihts of workers, solidarity general-social of nation and state – protection of economic and political human rihts, solidarity international of humanity – trend towards peace and prosperity.

Plato’s Protagoras belongs to the most read and analyzed works of the philosopher. Interest is aroused not only by the content of the work, but also by its form: diligent composition, elaborate descriptions of characters and dramatic nature of separate scenes, although the work belongs to the group of narrative dialogues. The aim of this article is to analyze the prologue of Protagoras, which consists of five scenes (309a–316a), to answer the question what function they have and how important role they play in this dialogue.

For many people the expression “applied ethics” sounds like a pleonasm. They tend to claim that ethics by its very nature is about practical matters. It deals with human actions and their motivations and there is no need to create an additional discipline with special practical bias. However, at least since the 1970s, there has been a growing movement of applied ethics which resulted not only in the increase of enrolment to the academic courses but also in the demand for consulting services in this field. And yet the question still remains to what extent applied ethics inherits philosophical tradition and style of thinking. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate that the applied ethics is a continuation of philosophical inquiry in the way adjusted well to the demands of the pluralistic and democratic societies.

Alexander Kushner’s poetry is an endless and timeless dialogue with his predecessors. Alexander Pushkin has a special place among them. Overt and covert references to the author of “Eugene Onegin” are present at various levels of Kushner’s texts – in themes, images, ideas, as well as at the level of formal organization: in language and metrics. The present article deals with the modes of reception and interpretation of Pushkin’s lyrics in the oeuvre of the contemporary poet from St. Petersburg. The analysis focuses on the varied forms of Kushner’s intertextual dialogue with the Romantic poet (quotations, allusions, reminiscences, references both of literary and biographical character). The sources and nature of reminiscences from Pushkin are indicated, such as accepting dialogue, polemics, assimilation, rejection and partial redefinition.

The genre of “author song” (Russian and Soviet singer-songwriters’ works) is analysed as a special kind of dialogue with listeners as well as with history and culture.
