Opis:
The purpose of this text is to reconstruct Paul Tillich’s thought concerning the contemporary issue resulting from the relation between theology and philosophy. The questions to be stated are: Is it possible to establish conditions for theology and philosophy to coexist? If so, where is their source? I am going to show the relation between philosophy and theology in the context of a seeking existence that happens to be a human being, with regards to God who answers human questions. In this paper I will try to present Tillich’s thought based on the hermeneutical way of understanding the symbol, which would make the Revelation being more available and comprehensible for humans. This would result as well in better and more aware understanding of what a human being really is.

Opis:
The purpose of this short essay is to present the profile of pre-war polish writer and philosopher Bolesław Miciński. On the occasion of the second edition of his writings it is worth to recall the memory of him. This exceptional penman suffered from his youth and awareness of impending death permeated his thought and creativity. Short life and war caused the forgetting of his achievements and literary output. This is a huge loss because his work was ahead of his time.  Popular literature has a special place in his work. Miciński believed that literary texts looking for the truth about human life. For his master Jerzy Stempowski thought that literature has the value of describing and explaining the truth about the meaning of the existence of man. The main characters of his philosophizing essays were superheroes and death. Philosopher did not accept the existing system of values, but sought their real meaning.These experiences have brought him close to the existentialists.

The Role of the Bible in the Formation of Philosophical Thought in Kievan Rus’ (as Exemplified by Ilarion of Kiev, Kliment Smolatič, and Kirill of Turov)

Opis:
The article is an attempt to critically evaluate the manifestations of the philosophical culture sprouting in Rus’. With the baptism in the Byzantine Rite, Rus’ in the 10th century joined the family of Christian nations and defined the future direction of her own cultural development. The Middle Ages in Rus’ were eminently theocentric. Literature (which was mostly translated from the Greek in Bulgarian monasteries) had a religious character. Sacral content, assimilated in Rus’ mainly through the Old Church Slavonic (due to the scarce knowledge of Greek) had a decisive influence on formation of the philosophical worldview of Rus’ intellectual elite. The Bible thus became the main reference framework for the first Rus’ thinkers-philosophers: Ilarion of Kiev († 1055), Kirill of Turov († 1183) and Kliment Smolatič († 1164). Ilarion of Kiev, the first metropolitan of the Kievan Rus’ in his rhetoric work (which postulated the superiority of the New Testament to the Old) expressed a philosophical thesis of the equality of all Christian nations before God. Kliment Smolatič, the second metropolitan of Rus’, in his Letter to Presbyter Foma, defended the allegorical method of interpretating the Bible. Kirill of Turov, in his turn, in his Parable of the human soul and body allegorically tried to answer the question about the relationship of the body and the soul. For the Rus’ thinkers the content of the Bible served as a pretext for philosophical reflection, e.g. on the role of man in the universe, on the nature of reality, on the relation between matter and spirit. In their works we find the beginnings of the theory of knowledge, metaphysics, ethics, and aesthetics.

public goods
sustainable development
economic liberalism
J. Locke
Opis:
Humansare not able to change their nature other than through their own actions and with the participation of others. The full development of personal life can therefore only be achieved in society. Managing the available resources, through his activity, man delineates the boundaries between the private, the individual, and the public spheres. The decisive factor in the right to private property is the individual’s own work. In economic theory, public goods are a manifestation of market failure, as market mechanisms for regulating supply and demand do not apply to the market for the quantity of goods supplied to the market. The theory of public goods is therefore primarily the subject of economic research and analysis, and the idea of the common good is the domain of philosophical reflection, especially of political philosophy. Considering the dynamic progress of civilization and the associated process of exploiting the natural environment in human economic activity, the policy of proper use of natural resources, taking into account the respect for the common good of the general public, is increasingly important. The answer to the challenges of the present day is the theory of sustainable development developed, in particular, in the green economy. It is considered to be a socio‑philosophical idea, the direction of economic development, as well as the direction of scientific research, and it comprehensively deals with the problem of the long‑term ability of the modern economy to develop upon the criterion of intergenerational justice. The article addresses issues of public goods theory and sustainable development in the context of Locke’s philosophical thought. The emancipation of Locke’s philosophical achievements manifests itself not only in the sphere of political philosophy, but also in the socio‑economic context, forming the skeleton of modern democratic states. Locke’s reflections, especially in the Two Treaties on Government, are an endorsement of individualism, economic freedom and economic liberalism, as well as the idea of a natural environment in the context of economic human activity. The practical realization of the common good in social, political and economic life suffers many difficulties in the conditions of the globalized world. Hence, interdisciplinary and deeper reflection on the real good perceived both by the individual and by the community is necessary. It also seems reasonable to discuss the ways of perceiving the common good and the public interest of present and future generations.

Opis:
Mit, pojmowanym jako alegoria lub wyraz emocji człowieka, w zmieniającym się kontekście kulturowym ciągle na nowo aktualizuje zawarte w sobie treści. W analizowanym poemacie symboliczny, motywowany wolnomularskim światopoglądem podtekst opowieści o rywalizacji mieszkanek Olimpu o miano najpiękniejszej, objaśnia istotę masońskiej koncepcji złotego wieku, opartej na wszechpotędze piękna (miłości) harmonii siły (władzy) i mądrości. Parys, przyjmując dar Wenus, ulega ułomnej zmysłowości, niweczy harmonię świata i pogrąża go w chaosie.
Myth, understood as allegory or an expression of human emotions, continuously redefines its content in the changing cultural context. In the poem analyzed here, the subtext of the narrative about the contest among the three goddesses of Olympus for the title of ‘the fairest’ is motivated by the Masonic worldview and serves explaining the Masonic concept of the Golden Age, based on the prevailing power of beauty (love), and harmony of force (power) and wisdom. Paris, by accepting the gift from Venus, yields to the imperfect sensuality and thus destroys the harmony of the world and engulfs it in chaos.

The article focuses on the conception of human in Nietzsche’s thought, especially on his category of self-affirmation. Nietzsche believes that after destruction of traditional values it is possibile to love oneself fully and unconditionally. He is trying to reinstate joy of existence to humans and connect individual will with earthly life (wholeness). The figures of free spirit, Overman and child are the ground to achieve this goal.
