    The presented article is an attempt to answer the question about the legal character of pastoral work of parish priests and parish assistants in the light of the polish law. Analysis of labour legislations, social insurance, current tax regulations and civil law leads to conclusion that priestly ministry cannot be classified as employment contract or any other form of employment. This sort of ministry can’t be listed in any known type of legal agreement. In such a case contractus innominatus (nameless contract) should be applied to the clerical ministry. Polish law permits the use of contractus innominatus. The content of such contracts, within the boarders determined by the absolutely obligatory norms, can be freely drawn up by the parties.

    As a result of changing the place of living, the eastern Catholic faithful, often settle down on the traditional Latin territories maintaining under the ordinary’s jurisdiction who belongs to a different Church sui iuris. The lack of the pastoral care and the lack of the possibility to use Church’s goods which the life gives cannot be the result of this situation. Therefore both the Code of Canon Law and the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches establish the rules which are to provide the eastern believers the proper care that is implemented in a few ways: by erected the hierarchy itself of eastern Churches on the Latin territories or by appointing the pastors who are to be responsible for the believers of the other rite, establishing the dioceses and the rite’s parishes and appointing the Episcopal vicar.

    This article aims at describing the reality where young Poles live and grow up, as well as their ways of coping with the challenges coming from both modern times and the changes in their own home country, Europe and the whole world. Generally speaking, we reflect upon the ways of leading the youth through adulthood. One opportunity is represented by the meetings organised by youth pastoral centres, managed by female and male congregations, as well as by Institutes of consecrated life. In this article, the results of the research carried out in 13 youth pastoral centres in the year 2007/2008 are presented. Just the variable related to the search for the meaning of life is dealt with in more detail, as soon as the very first existential questions arise, such as “Who am I?”, “Why am I living?”, “What is the sense of the things I do?”, “Where is my place in the world?” It is necessary to lead young people through this complex process of growing up, providing support, backing and presence. On the other hand, the following question arises: “to what extent can we intervene in the person’s development and in the shaping of their personality through contents and values, influencing their way of perceiving the world and themselves?” The analysis of this research can serve as a starting point in order to reflect on what is to be elaborated in detail, what is to be changed, what is to be highlighted, so that the meetings with the youth be more productive and the suggestions become a reference in the search for better solutions.

    The parish in Kryniczno was handed to the Salesians of Środa Śląska on February 1, 1951 and remained in their possession until February 15, 1993, when the administration of the parish passed into the hands of the diocesan clergy. Parishioners took part in daily masses and worship. Parish choirs, altar boy communities and rosary circles were founded. Pilgrimages for youth to Częstochowa and trips to World Youth Day were organized. During their stay in the parish of Kryniczno, Salesians carried on renovations of sacred objects, commercial objects, and other inventory. They conducted the restoration of the rectory and the church; restored statues of saints and other equipment, and purchased necessary furnishings. The pastoral activity of the Salesian priests in Kryniczno concluded in 1993.

    In this article, the author focuses on the issue of pastoral care in the parish in terms of canon 517 (2) of the Code of Canon Law. The first part of the article presents the history of canon 517 (2). The second part highlights the reasons for entrusting the parish to persons without ordination to the priesthood. The third part is dedicated to the priest-moderator leading the parish under canon 517 (2), while the fourth part discusses collaborators of the priest–moderator within the parish. Entrusting people without ordained priesthood with certain pastoral functions in the parish is always an extraordinary and temporary situation, which should always be accompanied by work promoting priestly vocations.

    Artykuł omawia problemy nowej komunikacji pastoralnej, która powinna mieć wymiar wspólnotowy. Komunikacja pastoralna jest dzisiaj znaczącym obszarem badań teologii pastoralnej, której celem jest poznanie życia i działalności współczesnego Kościoła. Współcześni chrześcijanie bardzo często są zalęknieni i zagubieni. Z tego powodu nauczanie Ewangelii nie przynosi spodziewanego owocu. Dlatego nauka Chrystusa powinna być głoszona we wspólnocie, w której ludzie doświadczą miłości i odnajdą sens i cel swojego życia.
    The article discusses the problem of new pastoral communication that, due to the changes taking place in the Church and in the world, should have a communal character. Nowadays, pastoral communication is a significant research area of Pastoral Theology whose aim is to study the life and activity of the modern Church. Today’s Christians very often feel afraid and lost. For this reason, the teaching of the Gospel does not yield the expected fruit. This is why, the teaching of Christ should be proclaimed in the community in which the confused will experience love and find the meaning and purpose in their lives.

    Old age is an ordinary phase of human life on Earth. It is time when one is reaping his or her lifetime harvest. It is also time when one’s fitness and agility decreases and often a disability appears. Senility is a moment of a human life fulfilment. It is kind of a “bridge” leading to eternity. It is inseparably connected with the problems of the suffering, the fading away and especially severe problem of the widowing. Age in the modern society is more and more important topic due to the fact that the society is getting older. The Catholic Church which wants to answer this “signs of the times” makes an required effort. In this article at the very begging was described the life situation of the aged people including the widowed people. Afterwards was characterized the ecclesial teaching about senility with a special emphasizing of the widowing problem. Subsequently was revealed actions which should be or are taken by the Church Ministry towards the old age people.

    The main task of religious and social work among immigrants is to preach the Word of God and it is to this end that all other forms of activity should be directed. The author attempts to analyze how and by what methods the Polish Catholic Mission in Sweden has been accomplishing this task for 60 years. Drawing on previous experience and listening to the current needs of the faithful, Polish pastoral care in Sweden continues to explore and use new opportunities. In addition to the traditional, proven forms recommended by the Catholic Church to proclaim the word of God, such as homilies and sermons, the catechesis of adults, children and adolescents, the Polish pastoral care in Sweden also uses modern forms of communicating the message of salvation such as the Catholic press on the Internet, audio books, e-books and encouraging the faithful to listen to catechesis in MP3 format.

    The aim of the article is to indicate new possibilities of health protection from the perspective of pastoral theology. The Church’s teaching on the protection of human life and health is very rich. It should also be pointed out that the Church supports all social initiatives to reform health care, especially is humanisation and personalisation, which can lead to better care for the sick, but also create new opportunities in the field of health prevention, in promoting healthy lifestyles and in supporting the pursuit of daily life hygiene. Thanks to the humanisation and personalisation of health care, it will be more effective to deformalize it, so that money, profit or savings do not obscure the most important goal: to provide comprehensive care for the sick person. The good of an ill person is body health and mental balance, but the greatest gift is always to be close to God, according to the principle that people are closest to God when they give health to other people.
    Celem artykułu jest wskazanie nowych możliwości ochrony zdrowia z perspektywy teologii pastoralnej. Nauczanie Kościoła na temat ochrony życia i zdrowia człowieka jest bardzo bogate. Kościół popiera wszelkie inicjatywy społeczne służące reformie ochrony zdrowia, zwłaszcza jej humanizację i personalizację, co może przełożyć się na lepszą opiekę nad ludźmi chorymi, ale też stworzy nowe możliwości w dziedzinie profilaktyki zdrowotnej, w propagowaniu zdrowego stylu życia i wspieraniu działań na rzecz przestrzegania zasad higieny życia na co dzień. Dzięki humanizacji i personalizacji służby zdrowia bardziej skuteczne będą działania na rzecz jej odkomercjalizowania, aby pieniądz, zysk lub oszczędności nie przesłaniały najważniejszego celu: otoczenia kompleksową opieką osoby chorej. Dobrem osoby chorej jest zdrowie ciała i równowaga psychiczna, ale największym darem jest być zawsze blisko Boga, według zasady, że ludzie są najbliżej Boga, gdy dają zdrowie innym ludziom.

    W artykule zaprezentowane są aktualne problemy Kościoła związane z komunikacją medialną. Kościół wypełnia swoją misję w świecie realnym. Znakiem czasów współczesnych jest powstanie świata wirtualnego. Teologia pastoralna poszukuje odpowiedzi na pytanie: w jaki sposób Kościół może wypełniać swoja misję pastoralną w świecie wirtualnym? Współpraca Kościoła z mediami powinna być oparta na prawdzie. Główne zadanie Kościoła w świecie wirtualnym to budowanie wspólnoty kościelnej. Natomiast chrześcijanie powinni wykorzystywać swoją wiarę do odnowy życia codziennego.
    The article presents the Church’s current problems associated with social communication media. The Church fulfils its mission in the real world. A sign of the modern times is the emergence of the virtual world. Pastoral theology is looking for answers to the question how the Church can fulfil its mission of pastoral ministry in the virtual world. The Church’s cooperation with the media should be based on the truth. The main task of the Church in the virtual world consists in building the ecclesial community. In turn, Christians should use their faith to revitalize their daily life.

    Dla bł. Pawła VI temat formacji kapłańskiej był od zawsze ważny, dlatego, stojąc na czele Kościoła, zarówno mediolańskiego, jak i powszechnego, każdego roku w okresie Wielkiego Postu kierował do kapłanów ojcowskie słowo. W jego nauczaniu wyróżnić można takie tematy, jak: tożsamość kapłańska, uświęcenie, służba i jedność. Tożsamość wynika z żywej relacji kapłana-powołanego z Chrystusem-powołującym i realizuje się w konkretnych realiach świata, który stawia chrześcijan, a zwłaszcza kapłanów, wobec niełatwych wyborów i zadań. Uświęcenie polega na głoszeniu Słowa Bożego oraz sprawowaniu sakramentów, w których działa sam Bóg. Jednak pierwszym adresatem tych świętych czynności musi być sam kapłan. Służba kapłana wobec człowieka, Kościoła i świata, musi być pokorna i wypływać z miłości na wzór Chrystusa w Wieczerniku, powinna ona być realizowana w duchu Ewangelii i ukierunkowana na poszukiwanie większej chwały Bożej, nigdy własnej. Niezbędną pomocą w czynieniu postępów w sferze tożsamości, uświęcania i służby jest jedność. Jedność kapłańska, mająca swe źródło w Ostatniej Wieczerzy i w modlitwie Chrystusa, gwarantuje wierność wybranej drodze życia, skuteczność posługi duszpasterskiej oraz stabilność rozwoju Kościoła.
    Priestly formation was always an important issue for Paul VI, therefore, being the head of both Milan and Universal Church, he annually addressed his paternal words to the priests during the Lenten time. His teaching revolves around such topics as: priestly identity, sanctification, service and unity. Priestly identity stems from a living relationship between a priest, the appointed one, and Christ who appoints him and it is pursued in the concrete world’s realities which impose on Christians, especially priests, difficult choices and tasks. Sanctification consists in proclamation of God’s Word and celebration of sacraments, in which God himself acts. However, the first recipient of the sacred rites must be the priest himself. What is more, the priest’s service to man, the Church and the world, must be humble and have its source in love, in imitation of Christ in Cenacle, it should, moreover, be realized in the spirit of the Gospel and be directed at seeking the greater glory of God, never that of one’s own. Priestly unity provides essential assistance in improving the sphere of identity, sanctification and service. Deriving from the Last Supper and from Christ’s prayer, it guarantees fidelity to the chosen way of life, efficacy of pastoral ministry and stable development of the Church.

    Artykuł ukazuje relacje pomiędzy wybitnymi postaciami Kościoła katolickiego w Polsce – prymasem Stefanem kard. Wyszyńskim i kard. Bolesławem Kominkiem. Podstawą ich współpracy była troska o dobro Kościoła i narodu. Obydwaj darzyli się szacunkiem i zaufaniem, a początki ich znajomości sięgają 1930 r. Nawet wówczas, kiedy komuniści uwięzili Prymasa, listownie wymieniali poglądy i nawzajem się wspierali. Ich formalna współpraca po 1956 r. przyczyniła się m.in. do unormowania relacji polsko-niemieckich oraz kanonicznej stabilizacji administracji kościelnej na Ziemiach Zachodnich i Północnych w 1972 r.
    The paper traces the history of mutual relationships between two eminent figures of the Catholic Church in Poland - the Primate card. Stefan Wyszyński and card. Bolesław Kominek, whose long-standing cooperation was built on concern for the welfare of the Church and nation. The acquaintance, dating back to 1930, was marked by great mutual esteem and confidence. Even at the time when the communists arrested the Primate, the cardinals continued to support each other and share their views in correspondence. Their formal cooperation after 1956 contributed, among others, to the normalizing of Polish – German relations and canonic stabilization of the church administration on the Recovered Territories in 1972.

Ponowne odczytanie praktyki liturgicznej, którą ukazuje Liber Sacerdotalis Castellaniego stanowi ciekawy i przydatny wkład w zrozumienie, jak przebiegała celebracja sakramentu pokuty w czasach bezpośrednio poprzedzających Sobór Trydencki, oraz pozwala zweryfikować treść i formę celebracji, która pojawiła się następnie w rytuałach posoborowych. Artykuł ukazuje kontekst sakramentu pokuty w świetle Mszału, wydanego po raz pierwszy w 1474, oraz na tle wielkich rytuałów, charakterystycznych dla całego wieku XVI.     A study concerning the history of the sacrament of penance and its pastoral practice is always an interesting issue. This kind of knowledge can be useful to understand the very sacrament and, especially, the way of its celebration in the ecclesial community along the centuries both from the point of view of the pastors and the faithful. The rereading of the liturgical practice presented in Castellani’s Liber Sacerdotalis, constitutes an interesting and useful contribution to better understanding of how the celebration of penance was performed in the days immediately preceding the Council of Trent. It also helps to verify the content and form of the celebration which appeared in the rituals after the Council. The article shows the context of the penance in the light of Missale (first edition in 1474) and at the background of the great rituals typical of the entire sixteenth century. Access to the original text allows us to grasp numerous details that appear in the 26 chapters of the whole work. Browsing the pages of Sacerdotale is like immersing in the ecclesiastical practice that is permeated by the canonical care for the integrity of confession.
