Opis:
The article presents the problem of managing projects by administration departments at higher education institutions in Poland. Changes in the higher education sector raised the need to increase efficiency in administrative work. One solution may be to implement project management standards. The main objective of the study was to check whether administration departments at higher education institutions in Poland use project management in their work. The author’s questionnaire was used as a research tool to conduct the study. The questionnaire was addressed to the Chancellors. 13 universities from 10 cities in Poland participated in the study. Eight of the universities declared to have regulations on project management activities in organizational documentation, while ten out of thirteen universities have project offices.

Opis:
An analysis of literature shows that higher education institutions can actively influence the development of students' cultural intelligence (CQ) and thus express their social responsibility. The article's main aim is to diagnose the level of cultural intelligence among students of public economics universities in Poland and to determine the relationship between CQ and factors such as field of study, degree, and gender. This article was developed using research methods such as literature analysis, organizational documentation analysis, participant observation, and a Computer-Assisted Web Interview (CAWI) survey. The respondents were second-year full-time students, both bachelor and master’s degree, of two majors: Management and International Economic Relations (in Polish Międzynarodowe Stosunki Gospodarcze – MSG for short). The study shows that the cultural intelligence of students of public economics universities in Poland is relatively high. No influence of gender on CQ was determined. Contrary to assumptions, it was not observed that MSG studies influence students' CQ development. The correlation between the degree of reflection and the level of cultural intelligence differs depending on the field of study. At each of the three universities studied, no significant differences were found in the overall level of cultural intelligence between students of the two studied majors.

Opis:
Since early 1990s the system of financing higher education institutions in Poland is based on the algorithm which binds the value of subsidy also with the performance. It is basically depended on the number and the structure of the students and scientific staff, but within the past years new factors have been introduced: grants acquisition and internationalization. The goal of the article is to verify to what extent the value of the subsidy depended on the performance of the universities. The test produced the positive outcome for the universities of life sciences and universities of economics, which were outstanding for the statistically significant change of the index.

Opis:
Today, a person who thinks critically is able to conduct a dialogue, determine the nature of any problem and find alternative solutions, and distinguish fact from assumption. This person is not afraid to question established opinions and judgments. That is why such kind of people are considered to be competitive and in demand on the labor market. The article, based on modern scientific positions, reveals the meaning of “critical thinking”. The development of critical thinking is based on observation skills; on the ability to ask questions and find the necessary resources; on the ability to check beliefs, assumptions and opinions, contrary to the evidence; on the ability to distinguish and identify a problem; on the ability to assess the validity of statements and arguments; and on the ability to find and make smart decisions, and understand the logic and logical arguments. The authors of the article found that the process of solving pedagogical problems was the basic unit of critical thinking skills among future teachers. The availability of critical thinking skills among future teachers is determined by using a critical thinking test, developed by Lauren Starkey, an American author (Starkey, 2004). The analysis of the survey results shows that the majority of respondents have an average level of critical thinking skills. The average level of critical thinking skills indicates that an average future teacher’s forms of thinking are unevenly developed. That is why it is difficult for a future teacher to make important decisions. We propose to foster critical thinking skills by solving pedagogical problems, which involves the use of modern interactive forms, methods and techniques of teaching.
