    Opis:
    A mathematical description of flood hydrograph is desirable in analyses and designs of many hydraulic structures because together with the maximum fl ow in time of tense flow it enables to determine more exactly, the volume of flood and it other parameters. The adequacy of the mathematical description is analyzed in the presented work considering equations in dimensionless equation given in the work of Baptista and Michel (1990), McEnroe (1992), Strupczewski (1964) as well as a typical hydrograph SCS. In the analysis the infl uence of a value of equation parameters on the possibility of “adaptation” of the description to the real hydrograph both in shape and the value of calculated values. The compatibility assessment of the calculated hydrograph with the real one was conducted applying three measures proposed in the work of Sarma at al. (1973). The analysis was conducted for 8 individual hydrographs from drainage areas of a different character.

    Opis:
    The paper presents the relationships between daily sums of global solar radiation and real sunshine duration and separately, mean for a day amount of total cloudiness (computed from three standard observation terms) within 11 May – 31 July period in Felin. This period is approximated to the insolation summer one and is characterised by a long day (at least 15.5) and slight differentiation in time. The relationships were obtained on the basis of mean decade data and a stretch of single days during fi ve seasons (but not successive). They were described with two types of equation regressions: linear and curvilinear (a 2-degree polynomial). Additionally, the same relationships were determined regarding the days without and with precipitation during the examind summer periods. The analysis performed in relation to effectiveness of each of these equations application to estimate daily sums of global solar radiation (the relative and standard errors) showed that better results are obtained from the equations concerning relations of the solar radiation with sunshine duration than cloudiness. It also reveated that to describe both types of the relationships, a polynomial is more effi cient than linear regression (particularly in the case of daily data examination). Moreover, it was stated that determination of these relationships for some specifi c days (eg. days without precipitation) is appropriate as it allws to estimate the daily sum of solar radiation with smaller errors.

    Opis:
    The essencial problem of this article is reduction of flood hydrograph by the system of ponds, located in urban catchment of Służew Creek: Berensewicz Ponds, Wyścigi Pond and Służewiecki Pond. The estimations of transformation of the flood hydrographs by reservoir was made with the use of the Puls method. Flood flow hydrograph, generated by rain events of probability of 10% and duration 2 hours in part of the catchment and then in the whole catchment, has been taken into account. The infl ow to the Berensewicz Pond has been calculated from measurement infl ow-outflow. The results of computation have shown that the reduction rates of flood hydrographs by the reservoires are insuffi cient for flood protection. Only Berensewicz Pond has significant importance on reduction of the flood flow hydrograph. To improve the efficiency of work system, it is sugessted to consider a designe of hydraulic structure with bottom outflet and overflow at Służewiecki Pond. Proposed solution would be useful, especialy for big flow hydrographs, what has been confirmed by results of computation.

    Opis:
    International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering have established European Technical Committee 10 (ETC 10) which main issue is an analysis and evaluation of implementation of Eurocode 7 rules into European countries engineering practice. During the works of ETC 10 a set of design examples was worked out, which was subsequently released in internet so as wider range of geotechnical engineers could solve them obeying the rules of Eurocode 7. The first set of these examples was published in 2005. Results and analysis of it were later shown during International Workshop in Dublin in 2005. In 2009 a second set of design examples was released. It consisted of six examples. Considered in article example 2.2 concerns a square pad footing with inclined load on boulder clay. This work shows proposition of solving this task and gives the results of it obtained with application of partial factors for all design approaches according to Eurocode 7 as well as results obtained using characteristic values of actions, soil parameters and soil resistance. Additionally calculations with use of polish standard PN- 81/B-03020 were made.
