Opis:
The authors’ tests results on the impact of the guiding system (the guides) contamination in the friction lift on the delay of progressive gears braking process are presented in this article. The tests were conducted using a free fall method and a test bench built for that purpose. In order to render all working conditions the guiding system of tested gears was lubricated with the most commonly used lubricating agents. Solid grease (SM), mineral oil (OL), the mixture of solid grease and quartz sand (S50) as well as the mixture of mineral oil and quartz sand (O50) were used.

Opis:
The gear which is the central safety element of the friction drive lift during braking is exposed to overloading connected with changeable weight which loads the lift braking system. In the article the results of numerical analysis for braking process of CHP 2000 type progressive gear distinguished by an innovative design have been presented. The numerical analysis was conducted with the use of a simulation of the gear roller displacement depending on changeable loading with the support of Abaqus/CAE software. Displacement of the gear roller from the neutral position in which the gear starts loosing energy of speeding up weight to zero was simulated. The results obtained from computer simulations were verified on the basis of a physical experiment at the bench station created to verify braking parameters of the gears with the use of free fall method.

Opis:
Due to self-acting variability of operating conditions during the work of lifting devices, it is fundamental for the gears to stop the cabin at any clearance height. The operating conditions are changed by dust contamination influencing a proper braking process of the gear. This article presents the independent tests results. The impact of progressive gear geometry on the braking distance both in variable operating conditions and variable loading is analyzed. The tests were conducted for the gear applied in short distance transportation devices. Changing operating conditions were obtained by using various lubricating agents. The following five types of the gears were used for the tests: ASG100, PP16, PR2000, KB160. CHP 2000 gear was tested as a new solution. The tests were conducted using a free fall method. The test results obtained from an experiment were approximated by using Savitzky-Golay method.

Opis:
The paper presents an analysis and assessment of recorded accelerations acting on Hybrid III dummy during emergency braking of a passenger lift. The dummy was equipped with a system of three-axis accelerometers. The type of progressive safety gear that has the shortest time of reaction and the shortest effective braking distance in its group, was chosen for tests. The tests were carried out on an emplacement, which simulated the movement of passenger lift. Tests of emergency braking were performed at variable load of a cabin corresponding to the mass of different passengers number. The cabin was dispelled by the gravity force using its free-fall. During the braking, the values of accelerations effected on individual parts of dummy, were measured. Based on them and using HIC and Nij indexes, the impact of temporary accelerations on passenger’s health was determined.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of the compression tests for carbon-epoxy composites in order to assess the amount of energy absorbed depending on the process velocity and content of axial fibres. Two types of prepreg (UD 200 g/m2 and woven 160 g/m2) were used to prepare the specimens with a diameter of 20 mm and a height of 34 mm. The specimens were subjected to compression under various speed conditions (static, dynamic and SHPB tests). The calculated specific energy absorption values showed a 50–60% decrease with increasing process velocity and depending on the type of specimens architecture. The highest energy values were absorbed by the specimens with the highest share of axial fibres in the sample.

Opis:
The paper describes a numerical and experimental study investigating the load carrying capacity of thin-walled composite structure subjected to axial compression. Composite profile was made of carbon-epoxy laminate with symmetrical arrangement of the layers [90/-45/45/0]s. The experiment was performed on a universal testing machine (Zwick Z100) until total failure of the column. In case of experimental study, post-critical equilibrium paths in full range of loads of the structure were determined. The numerical analysis was performed by the finite element method using the Abaqus® software. Numerical analysis involved solving a nonlinear stability problem. The geometrically non-linear problem was solved by the Newton-Raphson method. The load carrying capacity of the composite structure was determined by the progressive failure analysis, which firstly estimates damage initiation load (Hashin criterion) and secondly estimates failure load (energy criterion). The numerical and experimental results show high agreement, which confirms the adequacy of the prepared numerical model of composite profile.

Opis:
Understanding the performance of steel frames under fire loading is crucial, as numerous recent instances have revealed vulnerability of steel frames to such hazard. The present study is carried out to evaluate the vulnerability of regular and irregular steel structures in plan to fire event. Irregular buildings are encountered in practice due to various reasons. In this regard, three dimensional four storey steel moment resisting frame structures with rectangular, C-shape, H-shape and L-shape are considered for the analysis. All moment resisting frames are subjected to five different fire cases in each floor and the most critical member is identified. The effect on stress resultants of the surrounding structural elements is investigated at critical temperatures applied to the critical member. Linear static analysis is performed and the results in terms of DCR, axial forces, bending moments and shear forces are obtained and variation in internal forces are calculated. Significant variations in the internal forces indicate that the affected column distributes force on the neighbouring members that are greater than the forces initially carried by them, potentially resulting in member failure and gradual collapse. It is observed that irregularity considerably affects the performance of the structure. The critical components of irregular structures fail at a much lower temperature when compared to regular structures. Among the various structures analysed, maximum difference in axial force, bending moment and shear forces before and after fire exposure are observed in H-shape structure.
