Opis:
Neural networks’ synchronization by mutual learning discovered and described by Kanter et al. [12] can be used to construct relatively secure cryptographic key exchange protocol in the open channel. This phenomenon based on simple mathematical operations, can be performed fast on a computer. The latter makes it competitive to the currently used cryptographic algorithms. An additional advantage is the easiness in system scaling by adjusting neutral network’s topology, what results in satisfactory level of security [24] despite different attack attempts [12, 15]. With the aid of previous experiments, it turns out that the above synchronization procedure is a stochastic process. Though the time needed to achieve compatible weights vectors in both partner networks depends on their topology, the histograms generated herein render similar distribution patterns. In this paper the simulations and the analysis of synchronizations’ time are performed to test whether these histograms comply with histograms of a particular well-known statistical distribution. As verified in this work, indeed they coincide with Poisson distribution. The corresponding parameters of the empirically established Poisson distribution are also estimated in this work. Evidently the calculation of such parameters permits to assess the probability of achieving both networks’ synchronization in a given time only upon resorting to the generated distribution tables. Thus, there is no necessity of redoing again time-consuming computer simulations.

Opis:
It is well-known that artificial neural networks have the ability to learn based on the provisions of new data. A special case of the so-called supervised learning is a mutual learning of two neural networks. This type of learning applied to a specific networks called Tree Parity Machines (abbreviated as TPM networks) leads to achieving consistent weight vectors in both of them. Such phenomenon is called a network synchronization and can be exploited while constructing cryptographic key exchange protocol. At the beginning of the learning process both networks have initialized weights values as random. The time needed to synchronize both networks depends on their initial weights values and the input vectors which are also randomly generated at each step of learning. In this paper the relationship between the distribution, from which the initial weights of the network are drawn, and their compatibility is discussed. In order to measure the initial compatibility of the weights, the modified Euclidean metric is invoked here. Such a tool permits to determine the compatibility of the network weights’ scaling in regard to the size of the network. The proper understanding of the latter permits in turn to compare TPM networks of various sizes. This paper contains the results of the simulation and their discussion in the context of the above mentioned issue.

Opis:
The problem considered in this article involves the construction of evaluation model, which could subsequently be used in the field of modeling and risk management. The research work is finalized by a construction of a new model on the basis of observations of the models used for risk management and knowledge of information theory, machine learning and artificial neural networks. The developed tools are trained online, using their ability for automatic deduction rules based on data, during model application for evaluation tasks. The model, consequently changes the data analysis stage, limits the scope of the necessary expertise in the area, where the assessment model can be used and, to some extent, the shape of the model becomes independent from the current range of available data. These features increase its ability to generalize and to cope with the data of previously undefined classes, as well as improve its resistance to gaps occurring in the data. Performance of the model presented in this paper is tested and verified on the basis of real-life data, which would resemble a potentially real practical application. Preliminary tests performed within the scope of this work indicate that the developed model can form a starting point for further research as some of the used mechanisms have a fairly high efficiency and flexibility.

Opis:
In this paper we consider the problem of modeling curves in R n via interpolation with out apriori specified interpolation knots. We discuss two approaches to estimate missing knots{ti}mi=0 for non-parametric data(i.e.collection of points {qi}mi=0, where qiRn). The first approach (uniforme valuation) is based on blind guess in which knots {ˆti}mi=0 are chosen uniformly. The second approach (cumulative chord parameterization), incorporates the geometry of the distribution of data points.More precisely the difference ˆti+1−ˆti is equal to the Euclidean distance between data points qi+1 and qi. The second method partially compensates for the loss of the information carried by the reduced data. We also present the application of the above schemes for fitting non-parametric data in computer graphics (light-source motion rendering),in computer vision (image segmentation)and in physics (high velocity particles trajectory modeling).Though experiments are conducted for points in R2 and R3 the entire method is equally applicable in Rn.

Opis:
The paper presents a probabilistic model of the wear process of machine elements under the conditions of high-speed friction using the thermo-kinetic theory of fracture. The definition of model parameters is based on the probabilistic-physical approach. The model is presented in a discrete form and adapted for using computer simulation methods that require spatio-temporal sampling of computational models. The analysis of calculation results shows that the dominant factor that affects the stress-strain state, and therefore the wear of the tribological system processes, is the rate of change of the friction coefficient from static to dynamic values. The rate of change in the friction coefficient was proposed as an effectiveness criterion of using methods for increasing the wear resistance of systems under the conditions of high-speed friction.

Opis:
Minirhizotron, a non-destructive technique is based on the application of transparent tubes, located in plant’s root zone. This method has been known since the beginning of 20th century and is used for plant root’s observations, especially in forest trees (Scots pine, Norway spruce, silver fir, birch), steppe grasses, vegetables and cereals. Minirhizotron technique is also applicable to pomological plants observations, mostly apples, but many others orchard species were observed with this method last years. The study of root growth dynamics in fruit plants using the non-destructive, minirhizotron method is conducted in the Pomological Orchard in Skierniewice. The objects of the observations are the roots of: apple trees cultivar. ‘Gold Milenium’, blackcurrant bushes cultivar ‘Tiben’ and sweet cherry cultivar ‘Vanda’. The observations were carried out monthly over a period of from March to November.
