Opis:: In the article a tool for calculating the braking distance of rail vehicles developed as part of R&D project conducted at the Institute of Rail Vehicles in Poznan (Poland) was presented. The tool used high-level programming language – Python for determining the braking distance of railway vehicles in accordance with the algorithm presented in the EN 14531 standard. The developed tool takes into account the theoretical curve of pressure build-up in the brake cylinder and the variability of the friction coefficient with time during the braking process. The paper presents the results of calculating the braking distance of the electric multiple unit.

Opis:: The article presents the relay valve of braking systems of rail vehicles and its functions. Because of their function in braking systems the relay valves should be characterized by high reliability and correct carrying out the tasks in the braking system of rail vehicles. The stand tests of relay valves have shown that the properties of the applied grease have a big influence on the correctness of the relay valves' functioning. The paper presents the test stand and the results of tests of lubricants used in the relay valves. The idea of carried out tests of the values of lubricants parameters in different temperatures is discussed. The analysis of the test results of the lubricant parameters and the tests of the relay valves on the test stand showed that the correctness of the relay valves operation depends on the properties of the used lubricant. On the basis of the carried out tests, a grease was selected, which especially in low temperatures, meets the criteria of the correct and reliable operation of relay valves in rail vehicles.
W artykule przedstawiono przekładnik ciśnienia układów hamulcowych pojazdów szynowych oraz jego funkcje. Przekładniki ciśnienia z racji spełnianych funkcji w układach hamulcowych powinny charakteryzować się dużą niezawodnością oraz poprawnym wypełnianiem zadań w układzie hamulcowym pojazdów szynowych. Badania stanowiskowe przekładników ciśnienia wykazały, że duży wpływ na poprawność funkcjonowania przekładników mają właściwości zastosowanego smaru. Przedstawiono również stanowisko do badań oraz wyniki badań środków smarnych stosowanych w przekładnikach ciśnienia. Omówiono ideę przeprowadzonych badań wartości parametrów środków smarnych w różnych temperaturach. Analiza wyników badań parametrów środków smarnych oraz badań przekładników na stanowisku badawczym wykazała, że poprawność działania przekładników ciśnienia zależy od właściwości zastosowanego środka smarnego. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań wybrano smar, który szczególnie w niskich temperaturach, spełnia kryteria poprawnego i niezawodnego działania przekładników ciśnienia w pojazdach szynowych.

Opis:: The article presents the current legislation in the field of braking system testing in the tram vehicles type approval process. The currently used construction solutions of brake systems in tram vehicles are shown and discussed. The necessary test range and inspection of the braking system during the type approval tests, depending on the date of manufacture of the tram and its destination, are also outlined. This article provides justification for extending the scope of braking systems testing during the type approval process which is currently not required by any applicable law.
Artykuł przedstawia obecnie obowiązujące przepisy prawne w aspekcie badań układów hamulcowych w procesie homologacji typu tramwajów. Przedstawia stosowane obecnie rozwiązania konstrukcyjne układów hamulcowych w pojazdach tramwajowych. Wymienia konieczny zakres prób i sprawdzeń układu hamulcowego, podczas badań homologacyjnych, w zależności od daty produkcji tramwaju oraz jego przeznaczenia. Artykuł przedstawia uzasadnienie rozszerzenia zakresu badań układów hamulcowych w procesie homologacji, które obecnie nie są wymagane obowiązującymi przepisami prawnymi.
