    The article addresses the problem of population aging and the related problem of using and maintenance of technical means by the older persons. Such persons, as participants of the exploitation process, experience various problems. Therefore, the challenge is to adapt technical means to the needs of older people. The response of engineers to this challenge may be the technology assessment, which assumes the adoption of various achievements in the field of philosophy, sociology, psychology or other social sciences as tools for their work. The proposal for such a solution is presented in the article and it is an indicator that allows you to draw conclusions about the real needs of older people. The effect of calculations with its use is the Wi characterization in the function of the human age. This characteristic complements the characteristics obtained on the basis of empirical data about the behavior of a technical mean. The article also presents the possibilities of using the discussed indicator. These include: improving the quality of life of users of technical means at various ages through rational management of company resources, improving the quality of life of users through user-centered design, exclusion from exploitation by the elderly technical means/their components based on social technology assessment, analysis and optimization of needs people of different ages, modeling the movement of older people, elimination of social exclusion of older people, improving the quality of life of people of all ages through appropriate knowledge management.

    Wśród istotnych problemów współczesności należy wyróżnić starzenie się społeczeństw. Przekroczenie przez człowieka wieku 50 lat może się wiązać z pogorszeniem jego stanu zdrowia i z tym związanym radzeniem sobie w życiu. Dlatego też ważne jest wychodzenie naprzeciw potrzebom osób starszych, których zaspokojenie warunkuje jakość ich życia. Potrzeby te istnieją między innymi w środowisku transportowym. W artykule podjęto temat problemów osób starszych, występujących w ich funkcjonowaniu w takim środowisku oraz wybrane możliwości ich rozwiązywania, jakie stwarza społeczna ocena technologii w projektowaniu, konstruowaniu oraz eksploatacji środków technicznych, ukierunkowana na poprawę jakości ich życia. Zagadnienia z obszaru TA zilustrowano wybranymi przykładami technicznych rozwiązań gerontechnologii wykorzystywanych w omawianym obszarze.
    Among the important problems of the present day is the aging of societies. Being over 50 years old may be associated with a worsening of his or her health and dealing with it in life. It is therefore important to meet the needs of the elderly, whose satisfaction determines the quality of their lives. Among other things, these needs exist in the transport environment. The article concern the problems of the elderly persons, occurring in their functioning in the transport environment and the possibility of solving them, which a social technology assessment creates in the design, constructing and operation and maintenance of technical means aimed at improving their quality of life. Issues in the area of TA illustrated by selected examples of technical solutions of gerontechnology applied in this area.

    Opis:
    The article shall discuss the possibility of exploitation policy assessment of companies managing complex technical systems. The analysis of the opportunities and needs of quantitative assessment of exploitation policy showed, that such assessment may be conducted on the basis of multidimensional set of values resulting from the synthesis of the key features associated with the performing maintenance works. Based on the results of previous studies, it was built taxonomic model for assessing exploitation policy, supplemented by an identification procedure of reference (positioning) taxonomic variants. The developed way of assessing exploitation policy will be subject of verification in terms of functioning of selected technical network systems.
    Artykuł podejmuje dyskusję nad możliwością oceny polityki eksploatacyjnej przedsiębiorstw zarządzających złożonymi systemami technicznymi. Analiza możliwości i potrzeb ilościowej oceny polityki eksploatacyjnej wykazała, że ocena taka może być prowadzona w oparciu o wielowymiarowy zbiór wartości wynikający z syntezy kluczowych cech związanych z realizacją prac obsługowo-naprawczych. W oparciu o wyniki dotychczasowych badań, zbudowano taksonomiczny model oceny polityki eksploatacyjnej, uzupełniony procedurą identyfikacji wzorcowych (pozycjonujących) wariantów taksonomicznych. Opracowany sposób oceny polityki eksploatacyjnej będzie przedmiotem weryfikacji w warunkach funkcjonowania wybranych sieciowych systemów technicznych.
