Opis:
The physico-chemical characterization of Prunus amygdalus, Dacryodes edulis and Chrysophillum albidium seed oils were investigated, together with their methyl esters. The vegetable oils were extracted by applying the solvent extraction method, using n-hexane. Prunus amygdalus had the highest oil yield (60.1%), followed by Dyacrodes edulis (55.76 %) and least from Chrysophillum albidium (13.67%). The oils and their biodiesel were then analyzed for acid value, free fatty acid, specific gravity, ash content, iodine value, peroxide value, saponification value, kinematic viscosity, flash point, smoke point, titre value, cloud point, moisture content and refractive index. Accordingly, Dyacrodes edulis seed oil had the highest acid value of 6.57 and required two-step transesterifictaion. The produced biodiesels were discussed in the light of ASTM D 9751, ASTMD 6751 and DIN 14214. These showed yields of 94.36%, 93.03% and 86.49%, cetane numbers of 70.40, 55.20 and 64.57 and calorific values of 31,178.39 KJ/kg, 34,421.50 KJ/kg and 32,838.38 KJ/kg for Prunus amygdalus, Dacryodes edulis and Chrysophyllum albidium, respectively. Other fuel-related properties showed highly improved qualities upon transesterification and compared well with ASTM and EU standards. The overall results showed that the seed oils are viable for biodiesel production.

Opis:
An analysis of the physico-chemical parameters of ground and surface water of Musiri Taluk (Tamil Nadu, India) were carried out to study the quality of water and suitability for domestic purpose. Cauvery water, well water and bore wells are the water resources of the study area. The parameters included pH, EC, TDS, Turbidity, Total hardness and content of Fluoride, Sulphate and Chloride were also assessed and compared with the standard values prescribed by BIS. The present investigation revealed that the quality of water of Cauvery water is suitable for drinking purposes, but the well water and bore well water samples are unfit for drinking and utility purpose.

Opis:
The groundwater physico-chemical parameters of Parts of Akwa Ibom state and their spatial distribution have been examined in this study. The physico-chemical parameters analysed are Ph, total dissolved solids, electrical conductivity and water hardness. The average pH, electrical conductivity, water hardness and total dissolved solids obtained are 6.4, 163.4242 μS/cm, 83.81 mg/l and 90.5 mg/l respectively. The computed values are within the permissible limit set by World Health Organisation (WHO). Semi-variogram and ordinary kriging were used for the spatial distribution analysis. The semi variogram of the pH, total dissolved solids, electrical conductivity and water hardness were model with Gaussian, spherical, linear functions respectively. The pH map is dominated with values ranging from 6.2 to 6.6 while the total dissolved solids map is associated mainly with values ranging from 90 to 95 mg/l. The water hardness and electrical conductivity values increases from central part toward the west and eastern regions. The geostatical modelling has been used to estimate the values of the parameters at unsampled points.

Opis:
In the present study, the four estuaries were selected from the South Gujarat region to appraise the impact of industrial pollution in the estuarine water samples. The study focused on the tidal variation of nutrients, which disclosed that concentrations of NO2–N, NO3–N, NH4–N, TN, and reactive silicates were higher in low-tide whereas pH, salinity, and dissolved oxygen were higher in high-tide water samples. The results of high BOD and low DO expose the anthropogenic inputs in these estuaries during the low-tide. The results of physico-chemical and nutrients parameters of water showed that the pollution level is strongly influenced by tidal and seasonal changes. Pearson’s correlation matrix and principal component analysis (PCA) are applied to a hydrological and hydrographical dataset for finding the spatial-temporal variation during the tidal difference. This study suggested that there is an impact of industrial pollution and anthropogenic inputs on the estuarine water of the study area.

Opis:
Soil parameter balances the ecological symmetry in a lake-ecosystem. It determines the portability of water through its inter-relationship among phytoplanktons and zooplanktons. The purpose of the study is to identify the status of soil parameters in different seasons across the surrounding area of Nakki Lake, Mount Abu (2017-19). The soil parameters were analyzed and based on the results of the physico-chemical parameters of the soil; it confirms that the soil in the surrounding area of Nakki Lake in winter season can be classified as moderately alkaline soil. The soil analysis shows a linear positive correlation found with undeviating pattern (r = 1.000) of Clay with Bulk density and nitrogen; chloride with sulphur. Permeability is showing strong negative correlation with most of the soil parameters and shows linear trend in negative correlation (r = -1.000) with potassium.
