Opis:
We carried out a detailed study of the kinetics of oxidation of N'-ferrocenylmethyl-N'-phenylbenzohydrazide (FcX) to ferrocenium ion (FcX+) in aqueous and organic mediums. This study using cyclic (CV) and rotating disk electrode (RDE) voltammetry showed that the FcX/FcX+ redox couple is reversible. The N'-ferrocenylmethyl-N'-phenylbenzohydrazide and ferrocenium ion diffusion coefficients (D) were calculated from these results. In addition, the electron transfer rate constant and the exchange current density for the oxidation of ferrocene were determined. A comparison of the kinetic data obtained from the two electrochemical techniques appears to show that the data from the RDE experiments are more reliable because they are collected under strict mass transport control. Have studied lake close to neutral pH - 7.67 to 7.73. All lakes in accordance with the classification of the European Union Water Framework Directive have been included in the first class. The concentration in the surface layer of Ptot. Lake is little differentiated, is at level II quality class according to the classification of the European Union Water Framework Directive. Tested water lakes were changing the concentration of the PO43-diss - these concentrations correspond to water quality from III. The increase of the concentrations of phosphorus in the Lake may indicate a decrease in the amount of oxygen in the waters of the shallow and changes their status to release phosphorus compounds accumulated redox in sediment bottom. In the case of nitrogen-compounds nitrates and nitrites values for these indicators were at level I and II class in all the surveyed lakes in accordance with the classification of the European Union Water Framework Directive. Indicator, which indicates the high productivity of Lake is the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5). The level of this indicator values on the studied Lake was on level III class. In the remaining Lake oxygen concentration was similar (continued in I class). Fauna of the Resko Lake bottom during summer stagnation was poor in terms of quality, which proves its considerable biological degradation. In terms of the concentration in the test macrozoobenthos Lake dominated, and Oligochaeta, Diptera larvae.

A field experiment was carried out with two varieties of rice (BR 11 and BRRI dhan 31) during Transplanted Aman season of 2018 in K. bearing deep grey terrace soil of Madhupur tract (AEZ 28) under Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), Joydebpur. Gazipur. The objective of the study was to know the effect of NPKSZn on the growth and yield of BR 11 and BRRI dhan 31. There were ten treatment combinations with three replications. The treatments were complete (+NPKSZn), reverse complete (-NPKSZn), +N (+PKSZn), -N (+PKSZn), +P (+NKSZn), -P (+NKSZn), +K (+NPSZn) and -K (+NPSZn). The parameters under study were dry matter production, contents and uptake of N, P, K, S and Zn at active and maximum tillering stages, panicle number m’ and grain yield in both the varieties. All the parameters were positively influenced by the treatments under study. Growth and yield of both the varieties were largely affected by the missing nutrient treatment. The highest performance was found with the complete and reverse control treatments whereas the lowest was found with missing element treatments and of course, with control. BR 11 was found to be a better variety than BRRI dhan 31 in respect of yield and yield contributing characters under the treatments. It was also observed that recently fertilized reverse control plot behaved statistically the same as the long term fertilized complete treatment plot. Yield of rice was positively related to K uptake in both the varieties.

The paper presents a study regarding the kinetic of chemical bath deposition (CBD) PbS nano films. Nano films were deposited from chemical bath containing thiourea, lead nitrite, and ammonia. The deposition kinematics and optical investigations have been performed to compare the properties of the films grown with different precursor solutions. We are able to determine the growth rate as a function of the synthesis conditions and it was found that the growth rate of deposited nano layer affected significantly by synthesis conditions. The main characteristic of nano films is the band gap. This parameter determined from spectroscopy Measurements of transmission, in the energy range of 240-840 nm is influenced by many factors such as deposition time, bath temperature, pH value of the path and molar concentration of the reactants.

Opis:
The proven bentonite reserve in Nigeria has been modestly estimated at more than 700 million tonnes, however her bentonite does not meet the API regulation standard. Hence this work was done with the aim of characterizing and beneficiating Nigeria bentonite clay to meet the required standard. Bentonite clay was gotten from Ewekoro in Ogun state of Nigeria, it was characterized using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) to identify the structural layers which indicates the arrangement of the atoms in clay samples and X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrophotometer (XRF) which was used in the quantitative analysis of the elements in the sample. The XRD confirmed the presence of montmorillonite meaning the sample contained bentonite, while the XRF confirmed that the sample is Ca-based rather than the standard Na-based, hence the need for beneficiation. Beneficiation of the bentonite was done by ion exchange with Na2CO3 followed by addition with different compositions of viscosifiers namely: carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), drispac and guar gum. The rheological properties together with the swelling ratio and filter loss of the clay were determined. Although some of the bentonite compositions met the required standard, but the bentonite formulation with the combination of 20.125 g bentonite + 2.875 g guar gum + 0.6 g drispac gave the best result.

The phytoplankton abundance and physico-chemical parameters of Ifewara Reservoir, Southwestern Nigeria was studied for four months (February to December, 2015). Four sampling stations (designated Stations 1-4) were established along the horizontal axis of the reservoir - from inflow region to the dam site end. At each station, net plankton samples were collected by sieving 30 litres of water through a plankton net of 50 µm mesh size into 30 ml concentrate volume. These were then preserved in 5% formalin solution and later treated with Lugol’s solution and reduced to 3 ml for microscope observation. The results of the physico-chemical parameters showed that some were above recommended limits of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agencies (NESREA) for drinking water and aquatic life. Sixty-nine (69) species of phytoplankton were recorded from the four investigated sampling stations. The abundance of phytoplankton was in the following order; Bacillariophyceae (90.84%) > Chlorophyceae (44.67%) > Cyanophyceae (10.69%) > Charophyceae (0.31%) > Euglenophyceae (0.12%) > Dinophyceae (0.06%) > Chrysophyceae (0.03%). The most abundant phytoplankton species was Fragilaria aceania, accounting for 74.28% of the total, followed by Cosmarium quadrum (13.04%), Rhizoclonium hieroglyphicum (11.97%) and Oscillatoria tenuis (8.03%). With regard to the horizontal pattern of variation along the reservoir, the highest phytoplankton abundance was recorded at the inflow basin and the lowest abundance at the dam site. Almost all the phytoplankton groups also had their highest mean abundance during the rainy season rather then during the dry season.

A study was conducted to investigate the effect of growing location in the physico-chemical properties of gum arabic obtained from Acacia senegal. Authentic representative gum exudates samples were collected from Abederafi, Yabello, Awash and Filtu areas of Ethiopia. The experiment was conducted to determine Moisture content (MC), Ash content (Ash), pH, Relative Viscosity (RV), Nitrogen (N), Crude Protein (CP) and Mineral contents. Laboratory analyses were employed to determine the physico-chemical characteristics. The results were analyzed by using SAS Statistical Software. The analysis indicated that very high significant differences (p < 0.001) were seen on Ash, pH, RV, iron, calcium, and sodium contents of the gum arabic samples between the study sites. Furthermore, significant differences (p < 0.05) were indicated for N, CP, Cu, K contents. The results also showed MC, Mn and Mg contents have no significant difference among growing locations. According to our results, the percentage moisture content of the gum arabic samples were between 12.64 % and 13.41 %, while Ash percentage were between 0.32 % and 16.98 %. The mean pH values of the gum samples, obtained by employing different concentration of aqueous solutions also ranged between 4.4 and 4.97. In addition, the relative viscosity of the gum samples studied fall between 0.9 to 4.2 centipose, while Nitrogen and crude protein contents of the gum arabic samples from the study areas were from 0.313 % to 0.513 % and 1.943 % to 3.21 %, respectively. The major mineral element compositions of the gum arabic samples in descending order were Mg, Ca, Na, Cu, Fe, Mn and K. As compared to international standards and prior studies on gum arabic, the gum-arabic samples from the study sites have comparable physico-chemical characteristics.
