Computational approaches for spatial modeling of dynamics of the intercellular distribution of molecules can parse, simplify, classify and organize the spatiotemporal richness of any biochemical pathway and demonstrate its impact on the cells function by simply coupling it with the downstream effecters. One such online system biology modeling package is Virtual cell that provides a unique open source software and it’s used for making mathematical models to simulate the cytoplasmic control of molecule that interact to produce certain cellular behavior. In our present study, a spatial model for time dependent acetylcholine induced relaxation of vascular endothelial cells lining the lumen of blood vessel that regulate the contractility of the arteries was generated. The time-dependent action of neurotransmitter acetylcholine for total time period for 1 second was studied on the endothelial cell at an interval of every 0.05 seconds. Such time simulated spatial models may be useful for testing and developing new hypotheses, interpretation of results and understand the dynamic behavior of cells.

Ambient temperature and relative humidity are two crucial climatic factors that heavily influence poultry production and management. Knowledge of the period during which the environmental conditions remains detrimental is crucial for successful and economic poultry production and resource management. The objective of the study is to identify and comparatively assess the most crucial months/periods during which the climatic condition hinder normal performance of dual purpose Vanaraja poultry in topographically and agro-climatically distinct locations. The average monthly temperatures and humidity of each location were compared with established critical limits of ambient temperature and relative humidity that influence poultry for the location. Results reveal that there are wide inter-location variations in sensitive period during the year and affect the performance of the introduced poultry with varied intensity. Also the cultural & management practices should be location-specific with incorporation of need-based seasonal modification leading to optimum resource use. With critical periods in mind farmers can adopt/frame appropriate and well-timed management practices to alleviate impact of adverse environmental conditions.

The Renin-Angiotensin System (RAS) is an important regulator of the blood pressure(BP). The level of the vasoactive peptide Angiotensin-II, is mainly determined by the RAS enzyme, angiotensin converting enzyme-1 (ACE-1). Polymorphisms in ACE gene is reported to be associated with hypertension in various populations worldwide. We investigated the association of ACE I/D polymorphisms with hypertension among the tribal populations of South India. Samples were collected from hypertensive patients (n = 33) and healthy controls (n = 37). Genotyping was performed using Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with allele specific primers. The DD genotype is significantly observed among the cases (OR = 1.0) . Specifically, the DD genotype is more evident among the females (OR = 0 .705) than males (OR = 1.22) and is analysed to be associated with hypertension among the tribal populations of South India.

Opis:
Floating tablets has been accepted as a process to achieve controlled drug delivery by prolonging the residence time of the dosage form at the site of absorption, thereby improving and enhancing the bioavailability of drug. The objective of present study outlines the development and characterization the floating drug delivery system of Ofloxacin to enhance its bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy, using different grades of polymer along with effervescent agent sodium bicarbonate and citric acid. Ofloxacin is a synthetic chemotherapeutic second-generation antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone class. Different tablet formulations were formulated by wet granulation technique and were evaluated for physical parameters like Tablet Thickness, Hardness, % Friability, Weight variation, Content uniformity, In vitro buoyancy, Swelling index, In vitro dissolution study and drug release mechanisms. As the concentration of the polymer in the formulations increased the release of drug decreased. Hence it was considered as suitable candidate for formulation as floating drug delivery system. Different kinetic models were applied to drug release data in order to evaluate release mechanisms and kinetics. The optimized formula F4 showed better sustained drug release with good floating properties and fitted best to be Korsmeyer-Peppas model with R2 value of 0.9575. As the n value for the Korsmeyer- Peppas model was found be more than 0.5 it follows Non-Fickian diffusion mechanism. FTIR result showed that there is no drug excipients interaction.

Decreasing water level and shortage of water is being a major problem worldwide. For agriculture purpose this problem gives rise to the use of alternative sources of water. Most of these water sources are affected by the discharge waste of effluent from various types of industries like mining, textiles, chemical etc. Due to reason this effluent may contains many organic toxic substances that could have hazardous impact on human health. In addition, technological development has contributed to increase other industrial dumping that contaminates surface waters. The irregular disposal of industrial effluent has created pollution problems since this effluent is disseminated in the environment or is accumulated in sediments, aquatic organisms, and water. In this paper a solution for this global issue has been addressed and strategies have been suggested for this problem.

Opis:
In this mini-review we were interested in describing the main genetic, biological and mechanistic aspects of the aggressive behaviour in human patients and animal models. It seems that violent behaviour and impulsive traits present a multifactorial substrate, which is determined by genetic and non-genetic factors. Thus, aggressivity is regulated by brain regions such as the amygdala, which controls neural circuits for triggering defensive, aggressive or avoidant behaviour. Moreover, other brain structures such as the anterior cingulate cortex and prefrontal cortex regions could modulate circuits involved in aggression. Regarding the genetic aspects, we could mention the mutations in the monoamine oxidase or the polymorphisms of the genes involved in the metabolism of serotonin, such as tryptophan hydroxylase. Also, besides the low levels of serotonin metabolites, which seem to be associated with impulsive and aggressive traits, there are good evidences that deficiencies in glutamate transmission, as well as testosterone, vasopressin, hypochloesterolemia or oxytocin modifications could be related to the aggressive behaviour. Regarding oxytocin we present here in the last chapter the controversial results from the current literature regarding the various effects exhibited by oxytocin administration on the aggressive behavior, considering the increased interest in understanding the role of oxytocin on the main neuropsychiatric disorders.

Opis:
The extraordinary knowledge of indigenous people about their immediate environment and natural resource base can be a great asset for conservation of biodiversity. The current study aims to investigate an indigenous method of grazing management through temporary confinement of Mithun (Bos frontalis) of whole village community in a well selected area in the forest during the cropping and growing season. The whole system is called Lura and practiced by Galo tribes of Eastern Himalayan region of India. Every year Lura management committee is formed that selects a new site based on number of Mithuns, forage availability, time period and several other key criteria without affecting flora-fauna diversity and rare medicinal plants. The practice checks continuous, free, random and selective grazing by Mithuns. It prevent continuous disturbance of soil surface due to treading, during growing and rainy seasons that avoid soil erosion and compaction, and facilitate seedling germination and the invasion by plants. Change of site, provide resting period to the forages in the previous Lura site especially during growth stage that allow them to renew and regenerate appreciably within 1-2 months. It also saves resources and time for construction of fencing in each Jhum and other agricultural site of each farmer. The confinement offers easy monitoring, protection and regular health assessment of the livestock. Thus, it is a multifaceted indigenous practice that ensures grazing management, biodiversity conservation, protection of standing agricultural crops and animal health management

Current study was undertaken to highlight the effect of pruning on improving vigor of old orchards and increasing performance in terms of fruit yield and quality under water and nutrient stressed condition of mid hills of Eastern Himalaya. Guava was taken for the case study and all the physical and chemical properties of the fruits and other attributes of plant were evaluated using standard methods under three pruning intensities (light, moderate and severe) and no pruning. The emergence of bud was earliest in severe pruning, number of buds per shoot was highest with light pruning and cumulative lengths of new shoots were found to be highest in severe pruning. Fruit yield, size and weight were found to increase with pruning intensities and lowest in case of no pruning. Regarding chemical properties, total soluble solids and total sugar found to increase with enhanced pruning severity and least in case of no pruning. Acidity was found to be highest with no pruning and decrease with increase in pruning intensities. Overall pruning found to have rejuvenating impact on aged trees due to better light interception leading to better photosynthetic rate, better nutrient and water supply with reduced canopy and better quality yields.
