    Opis:
    The importance of forested areas to provide food, medicine and shelter and to maintaining a healthy environment cannot be overemphasized. Hence, handy information on the universities that offers forestry education is necessary. The study used a geographic information system to spatially distribute Universities in Nigeria that offer Forestry Education. The list of all the universities registered as awarding Forestry Degrees in Nigeria were obtained online from the National University Commission (NUC) register and Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) brochures. The corresponding coordinates of the universities were obtained using hand-held Global Positioning Systems and from satellite imagery. Quantum Geographic Information System was used to develop the universities spatial distribution. Only 31 out of the 34 universities identified as awarding forestry degrees were on the NUC list. Moreover, 61.8% of all of these universities were owned by the Federal Government, 32.4% by State Governments and only 5.9% were privately owned. Out of the universities recognized by NUC, the South-West geopolitical zone had the highest number (8), followed by South-South (7), North-West (5), North-Central (4), North-East (4) and South-East (3) with least. Non-uniformity was observed in Educational bodies offering studies in forestry, hence the government should invest more in forest research and education.

    This research determined the physico-chemical parameters of hand dug wells in Eruwa, South-western Nigeria in relation to the pollution, potability of groundwater by comparing the chemical and physical quality with World Health Organization and Nigeria Standard for Drinking Water Quality permissible limits. Twenty hand dug well were analyzed for their physico-chemical parameter. The physico-chemical investigation includes turbidity, temperature, pH, colour, electrical conductivity, calcium, fluoride, phosphate, nitrate, and iron. Averagely results show that the analyses are within the permissible limit of World Health Organization (WHO) and Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS). From the analysisof results, observation and comparison with the available standard, it was revealed that four out the twenty hand dug wells in the research area met the WHO standard and while five met the NIS standard.

    In many parts of the world, especially in arid and semi-arid, one of the solutions to deal with the major flood season comes, is the dam, as well as water storage dams to store flood also reduced the flood peak flow and damages resulting from it. It must be built in places that best performance in terms of the volume of the reservoir and reduce their discharge. In this paper, using a combination of linear and GIS environment, the proportion of land for the construction of small earth dams in the watershed Kal Ajy in the East province with an area of 170.90 km, based on five criteria (slope of the stream bed, the distance from the village, away from sources of credit, apart from agricultural lands, areas with severe erosion) to assess and map the proportion of the land in the study area was prepared. This map priority areas for the construction of small dams and earthen offers. The results indicate that 27 percent of the region is important for small earth dams are suitable.

GIS has an ability to gather, store, examine and manage spatial data and allow users to manage data in maps. IoT and GIS are coupled together to provide a better understanding of geographical data and patterns. This tie-up helps in mapping IoT in an interactive way. This article describes the overview of the integration of GIS enabled IOT applications.

    The article aims to show the possible use of geographic information system (GIS) and GIS software, namely various types of GIS analyses, in the uniformed public services. Such software enables the collection of spatial data that can then be associated with tabular information, the form in which data is stored by uniformed services. Using the collected data, public officials may perform different GIS analyses and visualize statistical data in the form of clear thematic maps. This allows, for example, to visualize and locate the number of road accidents or crimes. Thanks to such solutions, uniformed services could gather a consistent amount of information and therefore improve the quality of their work and insure more effective security, all for the benefit of society. The geographical information system should find a wider application within Polish public services.

    Evaluating the accessibility of NPC birth and death registration centers in Ikorodu LGA of Lagos state was conceived to manage the citing of birth and death registration centers. Digital database that is consistent and devoid of redundancy that enables data sharing at the end. National Population Commission will be a note among the geo-spatial data information infrastructures in the National geospatial frame. Therefore, the design of a geo-demographic digital database has seriously become more useful and eminent for National Population Commission to establish a programmatic database that will allow for easy update and retrieval. This structure is expected to provide for the implementation of a proper GIS in the National Population Commission nationwide.

    The aim of the present research was to estimate erosion and sediment and to formulate a map of the basin's erosion intensity using the satellite data, GIS technique and to compare the hydrometric stations' statistics. Using the Land sat satellite images among the results obtained from these data through (TM, ETM+), coverage index (NDVI) as well as a combination of bands 2, 3 and 4 for determining the type of land use and for assessing the soil texture in terms of regional aerial images tone and in accordance with the physiographic of the basin through sampling the soil texture , the map of the basin's texture was obtained. Assessing the surface and river erosion was also conducted using the aerial images and field visits. Given the data obtained and the model being applied, the special sediment rate in the basin was 5/19 tons per hectare, while the overall sediment rate obtained for the entire basin was estimated 5496533 tons in a year. Meantime, the observed and estimated value in the hydrometric station of Nesare Olya for as much as 553230 tons in a year shows a less than 1 % difference in the entire estimation of the sediments accumulated in the back of the dam while its sediment load rate estimation as much as 5/16 tons per hectare shows a 0/03 difference rate for the station.

    Census Enumeration Information System of part of Ikeja GRA residential layout, Ikeja Local Government area of Lagos State was conceived to manage census data in a digital database that is consistent and devoid of redundancy that enables data sharing and at the end, National Population Commission will be a node among the geospatial data information infrastructure in the national geo-spatial framework. Therefore, the design of a geodemographic digital database has become more useful and imminent for National Population Commission to establish a pragmatic database that will allow easy update and retrieval. Population data of the Five enumeration areas in the study area making up a Supervisory area were from the National Population Commission (NPC), Abuja; while the geometric data were digitized from 1.0m Ikonos image of the study area from the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF), Abuja and attribute data were from oral interview. Adekunle Fajuyi had a population density of 1426/ Km² as the most densely populated in the study area while the least was Oduduwa that had 422/ Km². The reason is attributed to more houses falling in residential category in Adekunle Fajuyi area while Oduduwa area have more buildings with residential purposes. The network analysis compared the results from taking the best route and alternative route from the assemblage point to a point in EA 0010. The difference between taking the best route and the alternative route is 7.4m. This is an indication that the best route is shorter than the alternative which will in turn saves time and cost of running the operations of the Enumerators. The maps of the best and alternative routes were produced. This structure if properly put in place is expected to provide for the implementation of a proper GIS in the National Population Commission nationwide.
