- Opis:
- Detoxification of xenobiotics in plants can be divided into three phases. In phase I, xenobiotics are chemically transformed into more hydrophilic compounds, cytochrome P450 monooxygenase system playing a pivotal role in these chemical modifications. In phase II, the xenobiotics or their derivatives are deactivated by covalent linkage to glutathione, glucose or malonate. These phase II reactions arecatalysed by glutathione-, glucosyl- and malonyl- transferases. The resulting xenobiotic coniugates are exported from the cytosol to the vacuole by a ATP-dependent tonoplast transporters. Recently, AtMRP genes were cloned from Arabidopsis thaliana, which encode proteins belonging to the subclass of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters.
