Opis:
The paper compares numerically modeled crack propagation in a steel specimen with a real process of fiber separation. The objective of the study was to perform numerical analysis of crack propagation in order to determine the shape of a crack and the distribution of stresses in the entire model. A CAD model of the test specimen was prepared based on geometric parameters determined for a real model. The numerical analysis was performed using the computer simulation program Abaqus 6.14. The experiment of specimen bending was conducted using bench tools. Crack propagation was simulated by the numerical method xFEM which enabled visualization of fiber separation in the test specimen. The numerical results of crack propagation were compared with the experimental findings about cracking in a real specimen.

Opis:
Nowadays numerical methods are a powerful tool to simulate real processes. Polymer materials are increasingly used in engineering solutions. ABS is a common material used interchangeably with respect to traditional materials. Process for the production of components for rese-arch on 3D printers is becoming more widespread and accessible to ordi-nary users. Crack propagation process was carried out at the same time to compare results through experiments performed on the testing machine and numerical study. Cracking process was carried out by finite element method, implemented on the basis of simulations xFEM. This method allows to conduct research related to the separation of the material nodes, in places of highest stress levels that exceed the limits of plasticity and strength of the material. The analysis involved comparison of the shape of the resulting cracks through experimental and numerical way.

The paper describes the process of symmetric bending of an aluminium specimen using two independent environments for numerical analysis. A FEM analysis is performed on an aluminium channel section. A comparison is made between the bending process performed in the Abaqus environment and that run with the Deform-3D system. In both numerical analysis systems, the crucial point is to determine the state of reduced stresses for a designed computer model. The paper provides a visual comparison of the profiles subjected to bending; it also determines displacements and stresses in the tested structures. To perform a nonlinear static analysis, we define a material model, determine boundary conditions, interactions as well as generate a mesh. The results produced with the two numerical systems agree to a very high extent.

This paper reports the results of a numerical analysis of buckling in a carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP). The analysis involved determination of the first buckling mode and critical forces for the tested composite. The composite was tested for six different ply orientations. The analysis was performed on a closed section composite column. The objective of the analysis was to determine critical forces affecting the composite profiles with the applied ply orientations and, thus,to determine the laminate ply orientations which can carry the heaviest loads. The numerical modelling and all computations were performed using the Abaqus 6.14 software. In the analysis, we took account of boundary conditions and performed a discretization process in order to obtain correct results.

This paper deals with the punctureability of a steel plate by a projectile at different angles of attack. The effect of the projectile angle on the force required to penetrate a plate made of A36 steel is presented using Finite Element Method calculation software. Using Abaqus software, a dynamic model of a projectile striking a plate was modelled and the force required to penetrate a 5 mm thick steel plate was presented. The intro-duction gives an overview of the genesis of the topic and a brief historical background. The chapter on numerical analysis presents the numerical model used and how the simulation was modelled. In the conclusions, a summary of the results was formulated and conclusions were drawn regarding the observations and insights of the analysis. The force required to penetrate the plate was observed to increase with increasing projectile angle of attack and it was found that, as the angle of the plate increased, the force required to penetrate increased.

Opis:
The paper presents results of numerical FEM analyses of the process of broaching the groove using the Explicit module of the ABAQUS program. The impact of the blade geometry was presented and of the selected technological parameters of processing when cutting the aluminium EN-AW 6061-T6 alloy on the load of the broach blade during its operation. This article shows influence of value of rake and clearance angle onto deformations of the tool’s cutting edge in the transverse direction. An interaction between broach blade shape and reduced stress in the area of cutting edge was presented. The optimum geometry of the cutting tool was proposed.

The paper presents a brief description of the Abaqus Simulia plane stress quadrilateral elements (CPS4R, CPS4I, CPS4, CPS8R, CPS8). Comparison of the results quality obtained using each of them was done. There was considered two dimensional big displacements compression test for a highly orthotropic material. Simulations were performed for the compression in two perpendicular directions.
