Opis:
In this paper, nonlinear dynamical behavior of a rectangular plate traveled by a moving mass as well as an equivalent concentrated force with non-constant velocity is studied. The nonlinear governing coupled partial differential equations (PDEs) of motion are derived by energy method using Hamilton’s principle based on the large deflection theory in conjuncture with the von-Karman strain-displacement relations. Then Galerkin’s method is used to transform the equations of motion into a set of three coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) which then is solved in a semi-analytical way to get the dynamical response of the plate. Also, by using the Finite Element Method (FEM) with ANSYS software, the obtained results in nonlinear form are verified by FEM results. Then, a parametric study is conducted by changing the size of moving mass/force and the velocity of the traveling mass/force with a constant acceleration/deceleration, and the outcome nonlinear results are compared to the results from linear solution.

Opis:
In this paper, four coarse-graining (CG) models are proposed to accelerate molecular dynamics simulations of FCC metals. To this aim, at first, a proper map between beads of the CG models and atoms of the all-atom (AA) system is assigned, afterwards mass of the beads and the parameters of the CG models are determined in a manner that the CG models and the original all-atom model have the same physical properties. To evaluate and compare precision of these four CG models, different static and dynamic simulations are conducted. The results show that these CG models are at least 4 times faster than the AA model, while their errors are less than 1 percent.

Opis:
This paper presents analytical methods for determination of the curve for a high-cycle fatigue. It has been found based on qualitative and quantitative verification that the error introduced by these methods can be as large as 3-fold length of the experimental life. In addition, the wrong result can lay on either the safe or the unsafe side with equal probability. Therefore, an analytical-and-experimental (hybrid) method has been proposed. Verification of computed characteristics vs. experimental data demonstrated that the “proprietary” proposal reduced the error. In addition, an approximate error depending on the number of experiments has been determined based on the computations.
