A deep hybrid electric vehicle (DHEV) equipped with a Ravigneaux compound planetary gear train (PGT) encounters severe gear whine noises during acceleration in the EV drive mode. For the analysis of vibro-acoustic sources, a 5DOF lumped-parameter vibration model for the PGT dynamic system is established as well as sound pressures radiated from the transmission on a test bench are measured for data processing and recognition. By comparison between numerical and experimental analyses, natural vibration modes of the PGT are examined and high frequency modal resonances in association with the planetary gears are observed only to cause narrow band whine noises. Furthermore, a 2DOF reduced dynamic model for the planetary gears with consideration of nonlinearities such as time-varying mesh stiffness and backlash is proposed, and numerical solutions to bifurcations and dynamic instabilities of the two sets of planetary gears are obtained. It is found that nonlinear vibration behaviour of the long and short planets are major causes of shock and vibration of the hybrid transmission. Severe vibro-acoustic noises excited dominantly by the planetary gears are alleviated after implementing micro-geometry modifications to the PGT.

Opis:
Soil parameters along the heading direction are subjected to spatial variability during shield construction, so grouting pressure requires constant adjustment to ensure ground stress sta- bility. This causes grouting pressure to fluctuate around the design pressure/curve. There- fore, the influence of the grouting pressure volatility on the adjacent loaded-pile foundation should be considered in shield tunneling. In this study, a refined numerical simulation of the shield construction process is conducted using the Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua in Three Dimensions (FLAC3D) software. A total of 300 groups of grouting pressure pa- rameters with a skewed normal distribution are input into the numerical model. Then, the influence of the construction parameter uncertainty on the adjacent loaded-pile foundation is analyzed. Finally, the back analysis method is conducted based on the monitored data to evaluate how the construction process affects the pile foundation. The calculation results are compared with those of the traditional finite element method. The results indicate that in the tunneling process, the grouting pressure fluctuation greatly affects the additional bend- ing moment of the adjacent pile foundation. Under the influence of the grouting pressure, the additional axial force and additional bending moment of the pile foundation also follow the skewed normal distribution. The back analysis results of the pile foundation are greater than those of the typical numerical method by about 60% 100%, that is using the back analysis calculation results to evaluate the pile foundation additional response can reduce the risk.

The Hamiltonian principle is applied to the nonlinear vibration equation of an axially moving conductive beam in the magnetic field with consideration of the axial velocity, axial tension, electromagnetic coupling effect and complex boundary conditions. Nonlinear vibration characteristics of the free vibrating beam under 1:3 internal resonances are studied based on our approach. For beams with one end fixed and the other simply supported, the nonlinear vibration equation is dispersed by the Galerkin method, and the vibration equations are solved by the multiple-scales method. As a result, the coupled relations between the first-order and second-order vibration modes are obtained in the internal resonance system. Firstly, the influence of initial conditions, axial velocity and the external magnetic field strength on the vibration modes is analysed in detail. Secondly, direct numerical calculation on the vibration equations is carried out in order to evaluate the accuracy of the perturbation approach. It is found that through numerical calculations, in the undamped system, the vibration modes are more sensitive to the initial value of vibration amplitude. The amplitude changes of the first-order and second-order modes resulting from the increase of the initial amplitude value of the vibration modes respectively are very special, and present a “reversal behaviour”. Lastly, in the damped system, the vibration modes exhibit a trend of coupling attenuation with time. Its decay rate increases when the applied magnetic field strength becomes stronger.

Stochastic uncertainty theory is used to develop a new Bingham model of magnetorheological dampers superior to the existing model. Some input variables are defined as stochastic variables by the stochastic factor method, and the stochastic Bingham model is developed by the algebraic synthesis method. Curves of the damping force obtained by the stochastic Bingham model and the Bingham model in the literature are compared with experimental results, revealing that the curves obtained by the stochastic Bingham model are much closer to the experimental curves. Therefore, we confirm that the stochastic Bingham model is superior to the model from the literature.

The wind tunnel with variable Mach numbers controlled by a single jack is highly desired in the aerospace, automobile and building industry due to its superior controllability and working range. Decreasing the temperature of a test gas is an efficient and economical approach to achieving higher Reynolds numbers that accommodate all working statuses of test subjects, which however, brings new challenges to the wind tunnel design nowadays. This paper proposes a new design concept of a single-jack variable Mach number nozzle based on its particular cryogenic characteristics, as the nozzle is the core structure to achieve variable Mach numbers. The contours of the nozzle under different Reynolds numbers and Mach numbers are modeled and solved by an incomplete elliptic integral, followed by modification with cryogenic characteristics. A 0.3-m cryogenic wind tunnel is utilized as a validation platform for the nozzle design, resulting in designed contours being in line with the measured contours. Moreover, the root means square (RMS) deviations of Mach number 1.3 at the core position are controlled within 0.011 in low and high temperatures, which surpasses the other existing wind tunnels.
