    In this paper four algorithms of methods of approximate solution of the two-point boundary value problem for the equation - u” + g(x)u = f(x) are given and compared. The finite difference, collocation, finite element and collocation-Galerkin methods are considered. Numerical results are presented. For sufficiently regular functions u,f and g the finite difference method is the most effective.

    The author treats the problem of approximation of the eigenvalues of the nonselfadjoint problem Lu=λu, u(0)=0, u∈L2(0,∞), where L=−d2/dt2+p(x), domL={u∈L2(0,∞):du/dt continuous, d2u/dt2∈L2(0,∞), u(0)=0}. The same question for a selfadjoint problem was answered in the author's recent paper.

    Classical solutions of mixed problems for first order partial functional differential systems in two independent variables are approximated in the paper with solutions of a difference problem of the Euler type. The mesh for the approximate solutions is obtained by a numerical solving of equations of bicharacteristics. The convergence of explicit difference schemes is proved by means of consistency and stability arguments. It is assumed that given functions satisfy nonlinear estimates of the Perron type. Differential systems with deviated variables and differential integral systems can be obtained from a general model by specializing given operators.

    Assume the eigenvalues and the weights are given for a difference boundary value problem and that the form of the boundary conditions at the endpoints is known. In particular, it is known whether the endpoints are fixed (i.e. Dirichlet or non-Dirichlet boundary conditions) or whether the endpoints are free to move (i.e. boundary conditions with affine dependence on the eigenparameter). This work illustrates how the potential as well as the exact boundary conditions can be uniquely reconstructed. The procedure is inductive on the number of unit intervals. This paper follows along the lines of S. Currie and A. Love, Inverse problems for difference equations with quadratic eigenparameter dependent boundary conditions, \emph{Quaestiones Mathematicae}, 40 (2017), no. 7, 861−877. Since the inverse problem considered in this paper contains more unknowns than the inverse problem considered in the above reference, an additional spectrum is required more often than was the case in the unique reconstruction of the potential alone.

    In the paper, the H^(-1)Galerkin-collocation method with quadratures (instead of integrals) for two point boundary value problems is considered. Approximate solution is a piecewise polynomial of degree r. It is proved that the method is stable and the error in L2-norm is of order O(h^(r+1)) if the used quadrature is exact for polynomial of degree not greater than r+1.

    Approximate methods for solving two-point boundary value problems are considered. The aim of the paper is to explain superconvergence effect in the methods using finite element spaces. The existence of a class of the methods with the superconvergence property is demonstrated. Detailed proofs of superconvergence are presented for the case of the Galerkin method (due to Douglas and Dupont results) and for some example of external method.

    The paper deals with initial boundary value problems for nonlinear first order partial differential functional equations. A theorem on the uniqueness of generalized solutions is proved.     This paper is concerned with transforming the exterior problem Δu=f on Ωc, (∂u/∂n)|Γ=g, where ΩR2 is a bounded region and Ω^(c)=int(R2\Ω), into a problem represented by two equations. The first one is posed on a bounded domain and the second one is posed on the outer part of the boundary of the domain. This new problem is suitable for a numerical method based on coupling the finite and boundary element methods.

    We investigate the behaviour of weak solutions to the nonlocal Robin problem for linear elliptic divergence second order equations in a neighbourhood of the boundary corner point. We find the exponent of the solution decreasing rate under the assumption that the leading coefficients of the equations do not satisfy the Dini-continuity condition.

    The paper deal with classical solutions of initial boundary value problems for infinite systems of nonlinear differential functional equations. Two types of difference schemes are constructed. First we show that solutions of our differential problem can be approximated by solutions of infinite difference functional schemes. In the second part of the paper we proof that solutions of finite difference systems approximate the solutions of aur differential problem. We give a complete convergence analysis for both types of difference methods. We adopt nonlinear estimates of the Perron type for given functions with respect to the functional variable. The proof of the stability is based on the comparison technique. Numerical examples are presented.

    The paper deals with initial boundary value problems of the Dirichlet type for system of quasilinear functional differential equations.We investigate weighted difference methods for these problems.A complete convergence analysis of the considered difference methods is given. Nonlinear estimates of the Perron type with respect to functional variables for given functions are assumed. The proof of the stability of difference problems is based on a comparison technique. The results obtained here can be applied to differential integral problems and differential equations with deviated variables.Numerical examples are presented.

    In this paper, we discuss traveling wave solutions for equations that model nonlinear media with diffusion. Such solutions can also describe, for example, the propagation of heteroclinic fronts or impulses (medium excitations). We present several examples of processes in which the notion of a traveling wave captures the essence of the analytical phenomena, including plasma sustained by a laser beam, phase transitions in van der Waals fluids, skin morphogenesis, and the DNA-RNA transcription process.
