    Opis:
    The study focused on tree rings of European beech in the stands in the Iława Forest District. The aim of the study was to analyse the effect of climatic conditions on the formation of the annual ring width at the limits of beech natural distribution in an area where the Atlantic and Continental climate meet and overlap. The mean tree−ring width was relatively wide and equalled 2,89 mm. The obtained time series covered the years between 1900 and 2002. On the basis of the response function analysis and indicator years it was demonstrated that there was a considerable impact of spring/summer precipitation on annual growth ring formation.

    Opis:
    Dendrochronological analysis and measurements of selected features of the cones allowed to describe the influence of the over−regional factors and the origin of trees on the increment pattern of Norway spruce growing in north−western Poland outside its natural range. Trees from study sites in the Świerczyna Forest District that is located farther southwards than the others characterise different course of tree growth. One of these sites stands out from the analysed group in terms of biometric features of the cones. The origin of the trees seems to decide on the spatial distribution of the increment pattern in a little way.

    Opis:
    The research objective was to investigate the course of tree−ring width series of silver fir (Abies alba Mill.) growing outside its natural range. Sample material was collected in Wichrowo Forest District in the Olsztyńskie Lakeland region. Dendroclimatological analysis was performed for the period 1952−2000 on the basis of residual chronology and meteorological data from Olsztyn station. It turned out that the thermal conditions at the end of winter influence the tree ring widths the most.

    Opis:
    Western hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla Sarg.) is an exotic species rarely encountered in Poland. The study site was located in the territory of the Dobrzany Forest District, in the oldest stands of this species in Poland. The research material comprised 20 wood samples from 10 trees aged 78 years. The chronology was built covering the period between 1942 and 2009. Indicator years were determined and dendroclimatological analysis was performed. Thermal conditions in January and February and the amount of precipitation in July and February influenced the tree−rings width. Missing rings were detected in 30% of wood samples in 1982.

    Opis:
    The study aimed at dendrochronological and dendroclimatological analysis of radial increments of two Scots pine specimens of atypical stems (fig. 1). Investigated trees grow in the Borne Sulinowo Forest District (tab.). Although the individuals differ with age, the anomaly occurs almost in the same time (fig. 2). Tree−ring widths of analysed pines show greater similarity before the anomaly onset. Atypical stem construction results in variable growth pattern within individual tree. Samples from ‘ridges' are more similar to the master chronology. Climate conditions (temperature in April and June) significantly influence tree ring formation within ‘rows' of tree at site #2 (fig. 3−4). Frost damages originating from extremely low temperature in winter 1956 may be the cause of the observed stem anomaly.
