Opis:
The paper reports on wastewater management in food processing enterprises, using the Ciechanów Dairy Cooperative as an example. The efficiency of preliminary treatment of wastewater entering the municipal sewerage system was evaluated using basic pollution indices for wastewater pre-treated in the process of chemical neutralisation as well as results of physical and chemical analyses of raw wastewater from fromage fraise and cottage cheese production lines. The number of exceedances of permissible values of pollution indices in pre-treated wastewater was determined based on values set in the water legal permits issued by the relevant authority. Pretreated wastewater entering the municipal sewerage system met the standards for permissible wastewater pollution indicators excluding BOD5 (biochemical oxygen demand) and COD (chemical oxygen demand). Physical and chemical analysis was performed of total raw wastewater and wastewater discharged from fromage fraise and cottage cheese production lines. Pollution indicators (COD, total nitrogen, orthophosphates, total suspensions, fats, pH) had high values but they remained within the ranges typical for dairy food processing.

Opis:
Water treatment annually produces a huge amount of Drinking Water Treatment Sludge (DWTS) wastes. The latter causes environmental problems in Morocco in terms of energy and pollution. Therefore, cost-effective and eco-friendly solutions for managing them should be proposed in order to reduce the frequency of storage along with transportation costs. In this paper, a thermodynamic analysis of DWTS wastes was conducted based on the isosteric heat and compensation theory. Different results concerning the mineralogical identification of sludges were established. Findings revealed that the by-product of water purification was mainly composed of aluminum, silica and iron hydroxides, with pH varying between 6.23 and 6.85. The suspended matter was between 18.3 and 19.6 m/l. The volatile matter of the three sludge samples was between 18 and 21%. The measured dry matter content was between 13.41 and 15.23%. The experimental tests were performed under temperatures from 45 and 60 °C, the experimental data of the sorption curves were fitted by using several models of correlation. Furthermore, the analysis showed that the Peleg’s model perfectly described the isotherm curves in the activities ranging from 0 to 90%. The net isosteric heats of sorption of the three hydroxide sludge from the Moroccan treatment station: $S_k$, $S_m$ and $S_s$, were determined for desorption and adsorption. Moreover, it was revealed that the equilibrium water content rising lead contributed to the reduction of the net isosteric heat and the entropy of sorption. Finally, the enthalpy-entropy compensation showed that the sorption mechanism involved was enthalpy driven.

Opis:
The aim of the paper is to present the conducted analyses of pre-feasibility study of different approaches for wastewater management in a settlement of 180 persons. In the assessment both technical and economic aspects were analyzed. The costs were calculated for three different and, at the same time, most popular as well as possible technical solutions like: (i) construction of local wastewater treatment plant with gravitational and pressurized networks, (ii) construction of single family wastewater treatment plants, (iii) construction of sealed septic tanks. Carried out analyses of investment and maintenance costs revealed that at the stage of construction the most expensive is local sewer network with treatment plant, while the construction of a single family treatment plant has similar cost regardless of the technology used. When the long term operation and investment cost are accounted the most economical reasonable solution is the application of wetland treatment for household wastewater treatment.

The article presents the development and condition of the sewage system in the cities and municipalities of Wielkopolska Voivodeship in the years 1999–2015. The data from Statistical Yearbook from Central Statistical Office – Environment Protection and Local Data Bank, and from National Programme for Municipal Waste Water Treatment implementation reports constituted the basis for the analysis. Over the last 16 years, the system of sewage management in municipalities has steadily improved. The study showed a heterogeneous state of development of the sewage network and wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), different growth of network, as well as variability in the share of the population using the sewage network. In last years the number of people who use the WWTP and sewage network has clearly increased. Moreover, the tendency for increasing amount of sewage treated in high performance technologies is observed. Unfortunately, this does not translate into significant improvements in the water quality in the region. Despite the clear improvement of the state of the sewage economy, it was not possible to fully achieve the assumptions arising from the National Programme for Municipal Waste Water Treatment, both in the voivodship and in the country.

Opis:
The Cisadane River, Tangerang City, is one of the most important rivers in Indonesia. This river provides raw water for Municipal Waterworks (PDAM) of the Tangerang City and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, but the water quality tends to deteriorate due to pollution. The government has made various efforts to manage the river water quality, but no significant resolution was issued yet. The problem is becoming more complicated due to land-use changes that affect the pollutant load. Therefore, more precise, integrated, and comprehensive management is needed. This study used an approach with various methodologies according to the stages of the research, including; qualitative and quantitative analysis, GIS, statistics, risk management, and System Dynamic. The outcome of this research was the development of the policies in river water quality management, specifically land use manage-ment, separation of drainage channels from domestic sewage channels, enhancement of Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) services coverage, as well as reinforcement of institutional and regulatory aspects, especially in funding commitments.
