Opis:
An evaluation of existing insulation and remediation technologies for solid mineral waste storages is carried out. Results of field observations at one of the largest tailings in Russia are given. A quality of atmospheric air, and surface and ground water are estimated in the impact areas of a magnetic separation waste storage at an iron ore deposit of the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly. An effective method of landfill’s surface insulation using polymeric materials is offered. The technological insulation process by means of a self-propelled screening machine is described. The suggested method will allow preserving an artificial deposit until the time of its rational mining, stopping water and wind erosion from its surface. Environmental conditions in its location area will be improved and pollution of atmosphere, soil, and natural water will be reduced.

Opis:
The paper provides an assessment of the potential technogenic impact of sulphide-containing wastes produced by ore extraction and processing at the Ozernoe deposit, which is currently at the initial stage of mining. The analysed averaged samples of ore and wastes of mining and processing were obtained in the course of semi-industrial experimental preproduction. The results of monitoring studies in the area of sulphide-containing dumps formed at an exploring mine in the 1960s were used for assessing a potential hazard of the wastes. The origin of acid mine drainage is described. Advantages and shortcomings of tests assessing acid mine drainage are considered. The used express-method of acid indication allows to reliably determine the risk of acid mine drainage by the values of acidic and neutralising potentials formed by rocks. An estimation of acid mine drainage formation and heavy metal migration is carried out at dumps of the exploring mine. The forecast of environmental impact is given for the future wastes of mining and processing at the Ozernoe deposit.

Opis:
The article presents the data based on the long-term observations of the Lomonosov mine tailing storage impact on the natural environment. The study of the chemical, mineral and phase composition of waste, sampled at the tailing site, was carried out. It was determined that the ore beneficiation waste in the Lomonosov deposit is generally represented by the minerals of the smectite group. According to the X-ray diffraction analysis data, the beneficiation wastes are a bi-mineral mixture of montmorillonite and talc with pyrophyllite impurities. The wastes of this composition are potentially magnesia raw materials used in the production of construction materials, such as cement, ceramic bricks, etc. Experimental studies have justified the use of the method of wastes recycling based on the roasting of the ore beneficiation tailings, with the number of process options, depending on the temperature regimes and the exposure time.

Opis:
This article explores modern methods of reclamation of lands disturbed processes of mining, based on monitoring disturbed lands using unmanned aircraft and dusty surfaces coated biologically active adhesive, biological foam. In the article new highly efficint methods of remote monitoring of environment components are considered on based of unmanned aircrafts. For monitoring, it is suggested to draw complexes based of small unmanned aircraft vehicle, equipped with special equipment (a digital camera, a thermal imaging camera, dust meter). Land reclamation on the biological stage is encouraged by using new bioadhesives, developed on the basis of polysaccharides and various microorganisms. This composition helps reduce the consumption of fertilizers, pesticides and other components, pioneer in growing crops on dusty surfaces in the disturbed lands. As a result of such an event, dust discharge from the surface technogenic structures is reduced up to 10 times.

Opis:
The article presents the results of field and laboratory studies on the state of surface waters in the impact zone of one of the largest mining enterprises of the Russian Federation, i.e. Kovdor Mining and Processing Combine. On the basis of the data from the monitoring studies, the patterns of migration and transformation of manganese in the system of wastes of enrichment – surface water – are revealed. In order to solve the existing environmental problem, an effective method of treating sewage from manganese using organic sorbent based on vermiculite is proposed. The results of laboratory tests of the sorbent are described depending on the method of its modification, as well as on the composition and properties of the purified water. The proposed method of sewage treatment will reduce the negative impact of the company on surface water, thereby improving the ecological situation in the study area and improving the quality of life of the local population.
